Putin asked for the outgoing government to remain at work until a new government was appointed.

Dmitry Medvedev
has stated:

Nothing extraordinary in government’s resignation, it should be taken calmly - former PM

"Under Article 112 of Russia’s Constitution, within seven days after their appointment a prime minister submits proposals to the president about composition of the federal executive bodies and nominates candidates for Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers. Mishustin said he would name his cabinet in the coming days."

After Medvedev and his Government's resignation, I noticed Sergey Lavrov took on a "Acting Foreign Minister" status. The last time that happened, Putin had been re-elected as Russian President and soon after, Lavrov was again re-appointed. My understanding, he has been in the capacity of serving as Foreign Minister since 2004, up to this date - and may hold "title" to the longest servicing Foreign Minister... Internationally?

Checking out other possible appointee's for the position - I haven't come across anyone with the background experience in Foreign Affairs or the accomplishments he has been accredited with over the years? There is no one who comes close - no comparison. One of his most admired traits among Foreign Leaders is his integrity and the respect "he brings to the negotiating table" which is highly honored by others, especially in finance and trade deals. (No wonder, Trump smiles when Lavrov visits the White House!)

I pray, for his sake, they inform him of his status soon, so he isn't kept in limbo. The job requirements are hard enough, let alone - added stress and uncertainty.

Lavrov will retain position in the new government.

No one can replace Lavrov. "He's indispensable!" :perfect:

Any word on Maria Zakharova? She's amazing! Direct and to the point and not afraid to call a spade - a spade. She use to put Obama in his place - like grease lightning! I like her style. She doesn't let Pompeo get away with anything, either!

Swiss uncovered suspected Davos spy plot by Russian 'plumbers': paper

Swiss officials foiled an apparent spying operation by Russians posing as plumbers in Davos, site of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting, a newspaper reported on Tuesday, but police did not confirm key details of the account.

The report in the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper said the two Russians were checked by Swiss police in August last year in the ski resort, which is hosting the WEF gathering of the global business and political elite this week. The pair presented diplomatic passports and left the country, the paper said.

Police in the eastern Swiss canton of Grisons said two men with Russian diplomatic passports had been the subjects of a routine identity check in Davos in August 2019, but no connection had been established between their visit and the WEF.

“It is true that we checked two Russian citizens in Davos and they identified themselves with diplomatic passports, but we could not ascertain any reason to detain them. They were allowed to go,” a cantonal police spokeswoman said, adding police had never identified the men as plumbers.

A spokesman for the Russian embassy in Bern dismissed the report, saying two Russian diplomats accredited outside Switzerland had been checked and allowed to go on their way.

“Diplomatic passports are given to high-ranking officials, not to manual laborers,” he said. “I think this was probably a dumb joke.”

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow, said she was not aware of the incident.

Investment fund manager Bill Browder, who has led a campaign to expose corruption and punish Russian officials whom he blames for the death of his lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, who died in a Moscow prison in 2009 after complaining of mistreatment, said the alleged incident showed the reach of the Russian state.

“The Russians are actively targeting all of their enemies in all different countries - they have huge resources and Davos is an important place, and this is the one place I can come and personally challenge Russian officials over the murder of Sergei Magnitsky,” Browder told Reuters Today in Davos on Tuesday.

Russian prosecutors have said they suspect Browder of ordering a string of murders, including of Magnitsky, in a twist the financier has dismissed as ludicrous.

Lavrov: Poland uses indecent methods
Warsaw is persuading Western countries to present the Polish point of view on Russia's approach to World War II during the World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Lavrov said during a press conference on Russian diplomacy in 2019 that attempts to slander Russia on the international stage "will be continued".

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that these will be actions discrediting the role of the Soviet Union in the victory over fascism, lying to the causes and results of World War II, and all this in order to weaken the position of modern Russia on the international arena.

- The international event, which will take place in Jerusalem next week with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will be devoted to the memory of Holocaust victims - said Lavrov. - We know for sure that our Polish colleagues - although President Andrzej Duda announced that he will not come to the ceremony - are trying to convince Western participants to present their Polish point of view on Russia's approach to World War II during their speeches - said the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lavrov believes that such methods are "completely indecent", especially taking into account the event, which will be devoted to the Forum.

The World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Andrzej Duda will not take part in it, because the organizers did not foresee the speech of the Polish president. Representatives of Russia, France, Great Britain, USA and Germany will take the floor.

Poland calls on Putin to tell truth at WWII event in Israel
Poland calls on Putin to tell truth at WWII event in Israel
Associated Press‎January‎ ‎21‎, ‎2020‎ - WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday to refrain from using World War II and Holocaust victims for current political goals and pointed to wartime documents in which the Polish government called on the Allies to save Jews.

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek made the appeal before a conference in Israel this week to mark 75 years since Soviet troops liberated the German Nazi death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Putin, who will be one of the key speakers, recently alleged that Poland bears some blame for the war and accused Poland's government of the time of anti-Semitism.
Polish President Andrzej Duda decided to boycott the conference, saying he wasn't offered a chance to speak.

In a recent interview with Israeli state TV, Duda said that Putin is "consciously disseminating lies about history. “This way he is trying to erase the responsibility of (Josef) Stalin's Russia for starting World War II jointly with Hitler's Germany,” Duda said in comments aired Monday.

Szynkowski vel Sek said Tuesday that if distortions and untrue allegations are repeated at the conference on Thursday in Jerusalem, Poland will point to historic documents and facts to counter them.

He named efforts by Poland's resistance and the government-in-exile in London to gather and share with world leaders the facts about the mass extermination of Jews by occupying Nazi Germany. One such document is Poland's report on the extermination of Jews that various government leaders received in 1942, when Auschwitz-Birkenau was operating.

He mentioned Jan Karski, who gave his first-hand account from the Warsaw Ghetto to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943, and Capt. Witold Pilecki, who volunteered to be taken by the Nazis to Auschwitz-Birkenau to later bear witness to its atrocities.

From 1940-45, around 1.1 million people, mostly Jews from across Europe, but also Poles, Roma and Russian prisoners of war, were killed at the camp.

On Monday, observances with the participation of foreign leaders and survivors will take place at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial to mark 75 years since it was liberated by Soviet troops.

World War II began in 1939 with Nazi Germany's military invasion of Poland, followed two weeks later by the Soviet invasion.

I may stand - to be corrected ... but it's my understanding that President Putin lost his Brother during this World War 11 period and the Family faced extreme hardship, along with other Russians during this time period. The photo of Putin kneeing at a 1942 Marker Stone "may be of personal significance to him" due to his Brother being buried there - in a mass grave? It may be the internal driving force that is behind Putin wanting "the Truth - in facts and Documents" in events that occurred during World War 11? It may also account for Putin's actions and reasoning during the last 20 years, as President and Prime Minister - to foment a way and means - to bring about World Peace - where a Nuclear Ban Treaty (FIRST) between Nuclear Countries is so very important? Making Foreign Policy and Diplomatic intervention at the negotiating table, to resolve issues between parties, as a top priority verses war on a battlefield, death, bloodshed and destruction.

The Independent January 21, 2020 - Vladimir Putin has been accused of rewriting history to turn killers who carried out bloody massacres into victims in an ongoing and bitter dispute which erupted after he claimed that Poland was complicit with Hitler’s Germany in the lead-up to the Second World War.

The Kremlin, claims Arkady Rzegocki, Poland’s ambassador to the UK, is seeking to deflect guilt and cover-up the legacy of the Nazi-Soviet pact – the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty – which sought to secretly carve-up countries in eastern Europe between the two totalitarian powers.

Writing in The Independent, Mr Rzegocki says: “President Vladimir Putin is harking back to the USSR’s false wartime narrative and unfairly turning perpetrators into victims.’’

“The denial of responsibility for the Nazi-Soviet pact being propagated by the Russian authorities must be continuously met with a firm response from the custodians of the truth. It must be opposed so that the 150,000 Poles who died at the hands of the Soviets did not die in vain.”

“All these were part of Russia’s continuous efforts to divert attention from its dark wartime past and reinforce Mr Putin’s narrative of a strong, faultless country which is a natural successor to war-winning USSR.’’

The Ambassador’s charge comes during an extraordinary confrontation in the lead-up to the International Holocaust Memorial Day and the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Mr Putin has lashed out on a number of occasions after the European Parliament passed a resolution last September urging Moscow to acknowledge the brutalities of its Stalinist past, maintaining that the country had escaped the scrutiny of Germany’s Nazi era.

But the Kremlin has accused the current Warsaw government of leading an anti-Russian campaign in the European Union, and retrospectively undermining the liberation of Poland from the Germans by Soviet forces.

President Putin and other Russian leaders have also charged Poland with working with the Nazis and virulent anti-semitism during the war.

In one speech, made to military officers in the Defence Ministry in Moscow, Mr Putin alleged that “essentially they colluded with Hitler. This is clear from documents, from archival documents...’’

Giving examples from the diaries of Józef Lipski, who served as Polish ambassador in Berlin from 1934 to 1939, Mr Putin pointed to promises made to put up a statue to Hitler in thanks for a German plan to deport Jews to Africa.

“A bastard, an anti-Semitic pig, you cannot put it any other way... it is people like that who today are tearing down monuments to the liberating warriors, the Red Army soldiers who freed Europe and the European people from the Nazis’’, he said.

The Polish government has protested strongly, reiterating that nearly six million Polish citizens, half of whom were Jewish, died in the Second World War.

But the allegation of white washing Holocaust history is one of which the Polish government has itself been accused, after making it an offence to use the term “Polish death camps” or discuss the Polish state’s involvement in Nazi war crimes – a move on which it was forced to backtrack after an international outcry.

Now the row has escalated, with other countries being drawn in.

More than a thousand Auschwitz survivors will travel to the site of the concentration camp in Poland on 27 January for the anniversary of its liberation. The event will be boycotted by Mr Putin.

This week, another commemoration will be held at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial site in Jerusalem. More than 45 heads of state and international public figures are due to attend. Prince Charles will represent the UK in what will be his first visit to Israel.

But Poland’s president, Andrzej Duda, has pulled out after learning that he would not be allowed to speak at the event while Mr Putin would be addressing those present, along with others including France’s Emmanuel Macron, and US Vice-President Mike Pence.

The issue has caused controversy among Israelis.

Daniel Blatman, a specialist in Holocaust studies at the University of Jerusalem and chief historian at a museum of the Warsaw ghetto in Poland, told The Guardian: “I can understand that a representative of Russia should speak at the anniversary, since it was the Red Army which liberated the camp. But why should the president of France speak, when the French government deported 30,000 Jews to Auschwitz, but not the president of Poland?”

Arkady Rzegocki The Independent January 21, 2020 - Arkady Rzegocki is Polish Ambassador to the UK

“The sum of evidence points to the responsibility for the crime resting on the then-leadership of the NKVD department. The Soviet side expresses deep regret over the tragedy, and assesses it as one of the worst Stalinist outrages.”

This statement was broadcast for the first time by the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union on 13 April 2010, on the 47th anniversary of the discovery of the Katyn mass graves. It took the Soviet Union 47 years to admit to the guilt of a series of mass executions of 22,000 Polish military officers and intelligentsia in the Russian forest in 1940. But with his recent comments about Poland’s complicity in the start of the Second World War, Russian president Vladimir Putin is harking back to the USSR’s false wartime narrative and unfairly turning perpetrators into victims.

In a series of statements made in December 2019, Putin accused Poland of collaboration with Hitler and of anti-Semitism.
He did so at some of the most important meetings held in Russia: the Commonwealth of Independent States summit, the annual board meeting of the Defence Ministry of Russia, the traditional end-of-year meeting with Russia’s key businesspeople, and a meeting with parliamentary leaders, which even resulted in State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin’s call for Poland to apologise for starting the war.

All these were part of Russia’s continuous efforts to divert attention from its dark wartime past and reinforce Putin’s narrative of a strong, faultless country which is a natural successor to war-winning USSR.

President Putin’s criticism of Poland was partly sparked by a recent European Parliament resolution, which blames both the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany for the outbreak of the Second World War. The resolution confirms that 80 years ago, on 23 August 1939, the Soviets and the Germans signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, and its secret protocol, dividing Europe and the territories of independent states between the two totalitarian regimes. It states that as a direct consequence of the pact, followed by the Nazi-Soviet Boundary and Friendship Treaty of 28 September 1939, Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany and two weeks later by the Soviet Union.

Later, the USSR ferociously attacked Finland and occupied and annexed parts of Romania as well as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. These are undeniable facts, the truth, and, unfortunately for Putin, they come from one of the world’s most important and reputable institutions.

The denial of responsibility for the Nazi-Soviet pact currently being propagated by the Russian authorities must be continuously met with a firm response from the custodians of the truth. It must be opposed so that the 150,000 Poles who died at the hands of the Soviets did not die in vain. I am therefore glad that Poland has strongly opposed Putin’s words, with prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasizing that without Stalin’s complicity in the partition of Poland, and without the natural resources that Stalin supplied to Hitler, the Nazi German crime machine would not have taken control of Europe. Thanks to Stalin, Hitler could conquer new countries and prepare Holocaust, one of the worst crimes in the history of humankind. His statement has gathered international support, including from German Ambassador to Poland Rolf Nikel, who said: “The USSR together with Germany participated in this brutal division of Poland.”

Russian statements contradict not only fundamental historical facts but they are above all dangerous, reducing the Soviet responsibility for destroying peace in Europe and shifting the blame for the outbreak of the Second World War onto France, United Kingdom and Poland. President Putin’s words sound especially threatening and damaging in the context of the upcoming International Holocaust Remembrance Day, marked on 27 January, the day of the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by the Red Army. It is a day when we should remember those who suffered and the people responsible for it, not bow to historical revisionism.

This Holocaust Memorial Day, then, is perhaps the best opportunity to highlight the tragic events of the past and the reasons for them. This way we honour the victims, condemn the perpetrators and lay ground for reconciliation based on truth and remembrance.

Remembering the victims of totalitarian regimes as well as recognizing and raising awareness of the shared European legacy of crimes committed by Soviet, Nazi and other regimes is of vital importance for the unity of Europe and for marking sure that a tragedy like the Second World War never happens again. For that, we must stand strong together and give no consent to turning perpetrators into victims.

Truth about WWII frequently hushed up deliberately abroad - Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin Mikhail Metzel/TASS

ST. PETERSBURG, January 19, 2020 - The truth about Second World War is sometimes hushed up deliberately at the state level and some corresponding websites are closed down, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday at a meeting with WWII veterans and public activists.

According to the president, when propaganda that distorts the truth about the war goes up to the level of state in foreign countries, nothing can be said against, since it would not be allowed.

"They close them up, that’s all. We have quoted several times that (information about the war - TASS) is posted on the Internet, and oops! The site is shut down from abroad. Then again oops and it is closed down. As soon as (the information) appears, they shut it down," Putin said adding that "the major media outlets do not cover impartial information" about those historic events.

The Russian president concluded that it was "purposeful work."

Putin again commented on last year’s resolution of the European Parliament, which blamed the Soviet Union for partial responsibility for unleashing World War Two.

"Those people seem to be either unable to read or write, or to be without eyes. And most likely it happens due to the current political situation to to achieve, excuse me for such a word, certain ferret-like political goals," the Russian president said pointing out that it could be prevented with the help of only the truth.

"We will set up an archive center to display the records, recordings and photos, which are archival documents in the literal sense of the word," said Putin, adding that Russia has enough records.

"We know validly and documentarily what was happening on the eve of World War II, not only day by day, but sometimes even hour by hour," the president said.

Without knowing the past, it is impossible to hope for good future, says Putin
https://tass.com/society/1111883

USMAN /Lipetsk Region/, January 22, 2020 - It is an illusion to believe that without knowing the past of the country, it is possible to expect a happy future, but it is necessary to get the youth to aspire for knowledge and that should start at school, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with members of the public in the southern Lipetsk Region on Wednesday.

At the meeting with Putin in the Lipetsk Region, some 370 kilometers (230 miles) south of Moscow, Andrei Artamonov, a high school student, said, "We do a project aimed at searching for little known information about Soviet heroes of Second World War. I have come across the problem that our generation knows little about the history of their families. Some believe it irrelevant to remember about their ancestors’ feats. I think that some research should be carried out and propose that there should be classes in regional studies or children should be advised to do research into the history of their family in History and Social Studies classes."

Putin pointed out that the issue raised by the school student is extremely important. "It should not be allowed that an impression could appear in the public minds, especially in the minds of young people, that they can count on the good future without knowing their past. It is an illusion. As long as we want to just live well and be confident in the future, we need to know everything about the past. Without knowing it, it is impossible to understand where to move on. People lose their self-identification," he said.

The president emphasized that Russia had always been famous for its inner strength. We have a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, but still united nation of Russia. It fills us with enormous inner strength, as it is an inner driving tool for our becoming and for our place in the world. It is an extremely important thing," Putin added. The head of state added that much in that work depends on teachers.

‘The truth and only the truth’: Putin defines strategy to fight WWII revisionism

USMAN /Lipetsk region/, January 22, 2020 - Resistance against attempts to rewrite the history of World War II must be based upon well-argued truth, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting in the Lipetsk Region.

Answering a question on how such attempts can be countered, the head of state replied: "With the truth. Only the truth must be presented, but it must be well-argued."

Putin reiterated that Russia intends to create a public information resource based on archived documents.
According to the head of state, this project must employ "good specialists, who can get things across to millions of people in an impressive, comprehensible manner." "As for archived materials, we probably have more of those than anyone else," President Putin concluded.

MOSCOW, January 21, 2020 - Russia is open for publication of WWII archive materials, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Tuesday during a session of the Russian International Affairs Council.

According to Lavrov, in one's approaches to the history of World War II it is necessary to rely on real historical facts and archive materials. "Russia is unprecedentedly open for their [the materials'] publication and for the general public becoming acquainted with these archive documents," he stated.

The Minister pointed out that some states had already reported negatively on the preparations for the 75th anniversary of victory in World War II. "I think that this issue will be of serious importance in the academic and practical work of the Russian International Affairs Council in the upcoming year," Lavrov stated. "We will employ the entire expert and analytical potential of the council to avoid politicization of this issue and to leave history to historians, to prevent attempts to rewrite the history of World War II and its outcomes, and to not allow attempts to cast a shadow on the heroes of the war, the liberators of Europe."

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the truth on the outcomes of the Second World War was documented during the Nuremberg trials and cannot be revised.

"The yoke is thrown off: the secret agreement between Putin and the West has expired»
24.01.2020-6: 00
Done! The transformation of reality has begun!

Expired twenty years of an alleged secret agreement between Putin and the West (deep power), according to which Russia after Yeltsin continued to remain in total obedience to "international institutions" (with the exception of the bargain, President of independence power and foreign ministries), and the West undertook not to make war in our territory and has not to incite separatism.

The calculation of the enemies was on the hardest Gorbachev-Yeltsin legacy, which itself was to lead Russia to the final decline and collapse. However, this did not happen.

On the contrary, the condition of the" patient " has stabilized, and by 2007 there was an improvement.

The hybrid aggression of the West against Georgia and Ukraine indicates attempts to create additional problems for Russia that are not stipulated by the Treaty (preferably involving it in a war), which at the same time give the "legal" right to sanctions, in order to slow down/stop the improvement, as well as to obtain new bargaining chips for prolonging the submission and training of the military component after its end. Doping scandals, Boeing, Skrypali, "interference" with someone's choices... in the same piggy Bank.

Subordination was carried out, in whole or in part, on the first five priorities of managing complex supersystems (methodological, historical-algorithmic, ideological, economic, and genetic).

That is, in fact, the power of the West was absolute, so it remained for a long time confident of the inevitability of the end of Russian history and was not too prepared to translate hybrid aggression into a military conflict.

And when I caught myself and started (with Georgia and Ukraine) to put together another "international coalition" for the next campaign to the East — it was too late, Russia strengthened its army (the sixth priority). And the old European part of the West lingered, showing the cowardly caution acquired by bitter experience.

All this allowed our President, though under severe external and internal pressure, sabotage, to achieve first a certain power stability, then some economic, legal, structural ... (the order of stability is approximate).

And now, 20 years later, in a Message to the Federal Assembly, President Vladimir Putin announced the interception of management on all five top priorities at once.

Raising the maternity capital, free hot meals in schools, support for families with children, attention to teachers... - all this applies to at least three priorities: genetic, economic and methodological (5, 4, 1).

Benefits and surcharges for these categories of citizens automatically pour large amounts of money into the economy (4), as well as state support for families, teachers, plus school meals are directly related to genetics (5) and culture (in a broad sense, everything above biological existence) (1). Information also belongs to the first priority, so we are waiting for quick solutions to issues of the media, cinema, etc.

What the President said about protecting historical truth, of course, belongs to the historical-algorithmic priority (matrix-algorithmic) (2). Political and judicial changes are an ideological priority (applied fact) (3).

Let's pay special attention to the support of children's art schools (1, 5). After all, we see how the liberal mafia, having seized, for example, the music market, for a long time replaced genuine original art, replacing it with a substitute for obsequious cheap imitation of the West and, thus, dug a creative demographic hole.

What the President said in the Message will be enough for a long time to understand, and in the future, for a major study.

And how much the President has not said yet, left between the lines! Breathtaking!

We must understand that the purpose of what was said on January 15 was not a banal resignation of the government, due to its insignificance, formality.

The goal, apparently, was to formalize the de jure victory already won de facto in the hybrid war.

Documentation will take some time, as evidenced by the overwhelming dynamics of a carefully considered progression action: the Message — the resignation of the government — the appointment of a new Prime Minister — the Commission to develop amendments — announcement of date of voting, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the Duma draft law on amendments…

And many events of the last two or five years prove that the victory was de facto won: Crimea, the victory in Syria, the reflection of sanctions aggression and attempts to network "color coups", an incredible number of visits to Russia by foreign politicians, the Royal reception in the Kingdom, the completion of major infrastructure projects, the official announcement of victory in the arms race in 2018, etc.

By the way, the Americans, even when they realized that they had lost the arms race, still could not believe it — they had to show the "Vanguards" directly, or maybe give them a feel.

The scale and speed of events that followed the Message in a heap suggest that we are supposed to remove certain restrictions or end the term of the secret agreement (agreement), timed to the date Of Vladimir Putin's inauguration, twenty years ago.

This means that our President had time to prepare for 100% and nothing can prevent the final interception of control, except for one thing-the world war.

But this was also taken care of (warned) by Putin in his Message, calling on the five nuclear powers to take measures "to eliminate the prerequisites for a global war…»

It doesn't matter who is in the new government or what other concessions are made to clans and corporations, because things will only get better now. Hurray!

MOSCOW, February 10, 2020 - Russia will spare no effort to build a multipolar world resting on the principles of cooperation rather than confrontation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.

"We will do our best to ensure that the multipolar architecture that is being forged is really fair, resting not on confrontation but on cooperation, that globalization is geared towards progress and its results are available to the entire humankind," he said. "This stance is shared by the majority of African and Latin American nations which reject colonial and neo-colonial approaches, such as the use of military force or blackmailing by illegitimate unilateral sanctions."

He noted that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples that was passed by the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of the former Soviet Union. "It would be right to recall today that our country played a major role in the process of decolonization and offered all-round support and assistance to the young states," Lavrov said. "It is remembered and appreciated. And the results of the first-ever Russia-Africa summit prove that.".

Facebook says it dismantles Russian intelligence operation targeting Ukraine (???)
Facebook <FB.O> on Wednesday said it had suspended a network of accounts used by Russian military intelligence to seed false narratives online targeting Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe.

Moscow Unveils Plans for ‘Europe’s Tallest’ Apartment Tower

The race to claim Europe’s tallest buildings is on, and it’s being fought on Russian soil.

Moscow City Hall has announced plans on Friday to build the tallest apartment tower in Europe a year after the city lost its claim to Europe’s tallest building to St. Petersburg

Officials say the 101-story “One Tower” will stand 405 meters tall, overshadowing all the other skyscrapers in the city’s financial district. Apartments in the glass-facade tower will be equipped with smart home technology and the general public will be offered a bird’s-eye view of Moscow from a 100th-floor observation deck.

“It’s a very complex and ambitious project,” said Marat Khusnullin, Moscow’s deputy mayor in charge of urban planning and construction.

Construction will be overseen by the City Hall-owned Mosinzhproekt company, which has been awarded several other key Moscow projects, including an unprecedented $17 billion metro construction contract.

“I’m sure it will be built on time,” Khusnullin said at the Moscow Urban Forum without naming the construction’s timeline or its cost.
Russian gas giant Gazprom’s 462-meter Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg overtook Moscow’s 370-meter Federation Tower as Europe’s tallest building when construction came to a close last October.

The development of Vostok Oil is to include 100,000 new jobs, 15 new industry towns, 800 km of pipeline and total investments of more than €144 billion. Two close companions with decades-long cooperation on Tuesday sat down for a talk in the Kremlin and it was the Arctic that was on top of their agenda. Igor Sechin has worked with Vladimir Putin since the 1990s and is considered among the most powerful and influential men in the country.

So, is that the reason behind the U.S. Treasury quickly "sanctioning Rosneft" but using Venezuela as an excuse?

The United States on Tuesday ramped up pressure on Venezuela by blacklisting a subsidiary of Russian state oil major Rosneft
that President Donald Trump's administration said provides a financial lifeline to President Nicolas Maduro's government.

The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Rosneft Trading SA, the Geneva-based trading unit of Rosneft, as Washington targeted Moscow over its backing of Maduro’s government. Rosneft said the U.S. Treasury Department has not presented any evidence of violations.

Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA said on Tuesday it rejected U.S. sanctions on Russian state oil company Rosneft over its continued trading of oil from the South American country.

Строго говоря, событие не в России, но о ее части. На мой взгляд стоит прочесть, хотя ничего нового, все это продолжается уже 6 лет. А лицемерие, которое все это окружает и поддерживает гораздо старше.

Strictly speaking, the event is not in Russia, but about its part. In my opinion, it is worth reading , although nothing new, all this has been going on for 6 years . And the hypocrisy that surrounds and supports all this is much older.

Russian representative's speech on Crimea shocked the UN (VIDEO)
07.03.2020-19: 45
Speech by first Deputy permanent representative Dmitry Polyansky at a meeting of UN security Council members on the "Arria formula" on human rights issues in Crimea.

"Gentlemen, the organizers!

In the explanatory note for today's event, you write that it should allow those present here to get first-hand information about the situation on the Peninsula.

We sat and listened intently. This is not the first time we have attended such events. So where are these "first hands"? When were these people last in Crimea? And if they were in the Russian Crimea, which is now in question? We tried to correct this flaw, which, of course, devalues the entire meeting today. A number of Crimeans, the Deputy Mufti of Crimea, the head of the Ukrainian community of the Peninsula, and the permanent representative of the Republic to the President of Russia were invited to participate via video link in writing. They were ready to speak today, but, unfortunately, they were denied participation under the ridiculous pretext that there are so many briefings. So you just don't want to hear information about the real situation in Crimea.

Instead of the people I mentioned who could really tell us what is really happening, people who do not represent any of the Crimeans reported today, and the last time they were in Crimea, when the Peninsula was subordinated to Kiev. How can they give an adequate assessment of life on this Russian territory? What is the "added value" of the tales we have heard today?

I said at a similar meeting last year that your "arriyas" on the subject of Crimea are more and more like a meeting of science fiction writers. Even with an emphasis on those who write horror novels. Today, this trend is even more evident.

We heard new stories. Naturally, people who hear them can't verify or refute them. And, unfortunately, they take it all at face value. This could be done right now by representatives of the Crimea, but you refused them the opportunity to Express their point of view.

However, there is one feature of today's meeting that I would like to draw attention to. And it is not in favor of the organizers. Mr. Chubarov, who is present here, publicly announced his intention to organize the so-called "March of dignity" on may 3 — did I remember correctly what it is called? In fact, this is an attempt to mass cross the Russian-Ukrainian border in Crimea. I think no one has any doubts about the possible consequences of such a provocation and how illegal this step is. I have not heard a single objection or critical comment on this issue today, from which I conclude that all the representatives of Western States who have spoken to me will in fact be complicit in this action, and perhaps even cover it up. And this is very remarkable, because these are already serious consequences of such a meeting.

We have repeatedly said that we should base our assessments on facts, not speculation. Today, many people again claimed that they had no opportunity to come to Crimea. I ask again: why? Who's stopping you? Crimea is an open Russian region, where everyone can come if they comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation. I would also like to say to the representative of OHCHR, who has already left us: we said from the very beginning that we would be happy to see representatives of OHCHR in Crimea. We confirmed this in writing.

Moreover, I honestly do not understand what problems they have with coming to Crimea. Are you suggesting that we need to buy tickets for you? It looks indecent — after all, adults. Everything is done very simply: plane-airport-Crimea. No problem.

A kind of leitmotif of today's meeting was the thesis about the occupation of Crimea. This is also remarkable. I would like to ask everyone to think about what is occupation? For example, the Ukrainian SSR was occupied by Nazi troops during the Second world war. There was a punitive Sonderkommando, who fought with the guerrillas. They, relying on local collaborators, who are now being elevated to the rank of national heroes in Kiev, quenched any discontent. The result of their activities is the death of a total of 8 to 10 million Ukrainians, Russians, Jews, poles, and all others who resisted the new government. These are not fantasies, but facts confirmed many times, including by the Nuremberg Tribunal.

Or, for example, some North-Eastern regions of Syria are still occupied by American troops, who, as President trump put it, "save oil there." We have not heard that entry to these regions is free, that they are visited by tourists. This is really called occupation.

And now, let's take the Crimea. Last year, it was visited by 7 million tourists from Russia, Ukraine and other countries. 7 million with a population of 2.5 million and more Ukrainians are coming, now about a million. Many of those who visit Crimea publish a huge number of entries in social networks, photos, and reviews. This year, rail, passenger and freight services were added to the regular road service on the Crimean bridge. We can expect that the flow of tourists will grow even more. I want to emphasize that there are no closed areas for tourists to visit on the Peninsula, there are no prohibitions on contacts with Crimeans.

Where are the punishers, I ask you? Where are the partisans resisting the occupation? Where are the occupiers in Crimea?

Apparently, for you, the occupiers are 2.5 million Crimeans who live on their land and are quite happy with their lives, speak Russian, Ukrainian, and Crimean Tatar, and have no problems in this regard. Once again, come and see for yourself. The doors are open to everyone. Who from those who sits in a hall, was in the Russian Crimea? This conversation is about nothing. Arrive.

This situation, when there is no annexation or occupation, but a thriving Russian region, whose residents have made their choice in favor of Russia and in strict accordance with the UN Charter, is like a "bone in the throat" for those whom you invited. And for those of you who cover the actions of Ukrainian nationalists and the undisguised Russophobia of the Maidan authorities. Hence, of course, this anger at their former compatriots and to protect them from the Maidan lawlessness of Russia. This anger and hatred runs like a red thread through all your performances.

I didn't want to react to what was said, but I would like to mention a few points. Mr. Chubarov, I would like to disappoint you. You said that there is only one Crimean Tatar TV channel, but this is not true. In total, about 50 Crimean Tatar media outlets, including television, are currently operating on the Peninsula. And this is immediately evident when you come to Crimea.

I will not comment, again, on data on education, harassment, etc.You could have compiled these data in the same way "on your knee" somewhere here in the hall. They have nothing to do with reality.

Several people mentioned the forced, paramilitary upbringing, if I remember correctly, of Crimean children. Mentioned the program "Uname". In General, a strange statement of the question — we are talking about, in fact, scouting classes. I don't think scouts are banned anywhere. But for comparison, I just wanted to share with you information that was once transmitted by CNN, Euronews, and the Washington Post about the children's nationalist camps "garta Volya" (in the Ternopil region) or "azovets" (near Kiev). Journalists who visited them saw that there are children who are only 8 years old, including girls. One of them was interviewed.

She said the following: "we need to target the separatists and the "Moscow occupiers", because they are not people." Mentors in these camps are Ukrainian nationalists. Euronews, for example, stated that students receive training not only on the ideals of the Ukrainian rebel army, but also on the principles of "white Europe", i.e. racism. This is called paramilitary education of young people. If someone is interested, you can dig further, but I'm not sure you're interested.

Returning to our presenters today, I would like to say that, frankly, I am very sorry for you, gentlemen, former Crimeans. Over the past 6 years, you have completely lost contact with Crimea and are saying hackneyed "cliches". And you can't help but understand that Crimeans don't believe you, because your words have nothing to do with reality. This is why you are forced to play the role of pseudo-human rights defenders that your Western patrons demand today, thereby setting the stage for new accusations against Russia and the Crimeans. This role is very unenviable, I really feel for you. And the Crimeans would give you their assessment if they were given the floor today, but we have not heard the Crimeans here today.

You, gentlemen, the speakers themselves abandoned their homeland — the Crimea, the success of which you do not want to miss. And don't blame anyone but yourself. Remember the hate-mongering Russophobic speeches from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada after the Maidan coup with threats to the Crimeans and the entire Russian-speaking population of Ukraine. Remember the so-called "friendship trains" with heavily armed nationalists that Kiev was going to send to pacify the Crimea. Remember the burned buses with Crimean activists returning from Kiev, where they tried to peacefully Express their point of view on what is happening.

Finally, remember the humiliation of the Berkut fighters who honestly performed their duty to protect the constitutional order and order and were subjected to persecution and humiliation for this.

And remember, finally, the "foam" of Bandera's executioners and Hitler's accomplices, which is still trying to wash away the memory of those who liberated Ukraine from fascism and brought it freedom and the right to life.
And thank for all this those irresponsible politicians who thoughtlessly lit a fire of civil hatred and Russophobia on the Maidan in 2014. Its flames scorched many Ukrainian regions and burned peaceful protesters in Odessa, for which no one has been punished so far. It also spread to the Donbass in the fire of a fratricidal civil war. And instead of putting out this flame, you are fanning it, including with such propaganda actions as today's. Playing along with the geopolitical interests of a number of external players, who are still betting on causing maximum damage to Russian-Ukrainian relations.

Crimeans will give their assessment of your actions.

Thank you for your attention."
