Russia’s FSB foils assassination attempt on RT editor-in-chief
Video
It was prepared by members of the neo-Nazi group "Paragraph-88" on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine
MOSCOW, July 15. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has foiled a plot by Ukrainian intelligence to murder Chief Editor of RT International News TV Channel Margarita Simonyan and journalist Ksenia Sobchak through the Neo-Nazi Paragraph-88 group, the FSB press office told TASS on Saturday.

"The Federal Security Service jointly with the Investigative Committee and the Interior Ministry of Russia has foiled the assassination of Editor-in-Chief of RT TV Channel and Russia Today international news agency Margarita Simonyan plotted by Ukrainian special services. According to available data, the murder of Ksenia Sobchak was also plotted," the press office said in a statement.

On July 14, the FSB detained members of the Neo-Nazi Paragraph-88 group in Moscow and the Ryazan Region who were keeping track of their targets at their places of work and residence, the press office said.

"During investigative measures, they confirmed their plotting of the assassination attempt on an assignment from the Ukrainian Security Service for a reward of 1.5 million rubles for each murder," the statement reads.

During the investigative measures, FSB operatives seized a Kalashnikov assault rifle, 90 rounds for it, knives, knuckle-dusters, rubber clubs, handcuffs, chevrons with Nazi insignia, Nazi literature, and also communications means and computers with information confirming their criminal intent, the FSB press office said.

"The Investigative Committee plans to institute criminal cases against the detained suspects on extremist and terrorist counts," the FSB said

In the President's speech, I highlighted the words that have already offended. Although it is unclear why to be offended by the truth.
Vladimir Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council
July 21, 2023
The elites of the United States benefit from the prolongation of the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated today by Vladimir Putin during a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council, it was held via videoconference. According to the president, it is the West that strenuously kindles the fire of war, the ambitions of the leaders of Eastern European countries are being used, and the Kiev regime does not care about its people, it is ready to do anything to prolong its existence. The mobilization reserve in Ukraine is running out, the country is suffering huge losses on the battlefield, tens of thousands of people died during unsuccessful attempts to organize a counteroffensive. And since there is no longer enough Ukrainian cannon fodder, they plan to use Poles and Lithuanians further.

This is what the president was talking about: "Today it is obvious that the Western curators of the Kiev regime are clearly disappointed with the results of the so-called counteroffensive, which the current Ukrainian authorities have been loudly broadcasting about in previous months. There are no results, at least not yet. Neither the colossal resources that were "pumped" into the Kiev regime, nor the supply of Western weapons, tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, missiles, nor the sending of thousands of foreign mercenaries and advisers, who were most actively used in attempts to break through the front of our army, help. At the same time, the command of the special military operation is acting professionally. Our soldiers and officers, units and formations perform their duty to the Motherland courageously, steadfastly, heroically. At the same time, the whole world sees that the vaunted Western, supposedly invulnerable equipment, is burning, and according to its tactical and technical data, it is often even inferior to some Soviet-made weapons. Yes, of course, Western weapons can still be additionally supplied and thrown into battle. This, of course, causes us some damage and delays the conflict. But, firstly, the NATO arsenals and stocks of old Soviet weapons in some states have already been largely emptied. And secondly, the existing production facilities in the West do not allow us to quickly replenish the reserves of equipment and ammunition. We need additional, and large, resources and time. And most importantly, as a result of suicidal attacks, the AFU formations suffered huge losses. These are tens of thousands, namely tens of thousands of people. And, despite the constant roundups, the incessant waves of total mobilization in the cities and villages of Ukraine, it is increasingly difficult for the current regime to drive new reinforcements to the front. The mobilization resource of the country is being depleted. People in Ukraine are increasingly having a question, a legitimate question: for what, for whose selfish interests their relatives and friends are dying. Gradually, slowly, but sobering up comes. We see that public opinion is changing in Europe as well. Both Europeans and representatives of European elites see that the so-called support for Ukraine is, in fact, a dead end, an empty, endless waste of money and effort, and in fact, serving other people's, far from European interests, the interests of an overseas global hegemon, which benefits from the weakening of Europe. The endless prolongation of the Ukrainian conflict is also beneficial to him. Judging by what is happening in real life, today's ruling elites of the United States are doing just that. In any case, they act in this logic. Whether such a policy corresponds to the true, fundamental interests of the American people is a big question, a rhetorical question, of course, let them decide for themselves. However, now the fire of war is being strenuously kindled. In particular, they use for this the ambitions of the leaders of some Eastern European states, who have long turned hatred of Russia, Russophobia into their main export commodity and into an instrument of their domestic policy. And now they want to "warm their hands" on the Ukrainian tragedy. In this regard, I cannot but comment on the reports that have appeared in the press about plans to create a certain so-called Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian connection. That is, we are not talking about some gathering of mercenaries, there are enough of them there, and they are being destroyed, namely, about a regular, assembled, equipped military unit that is planned to be used for actions on the territory of Ukraine, including for allegedly ensuring the security of modern Western Ukraine, but in fact, if you call a spade a spade, for the subsequent occupation of these territories. After all, the prospect is obvious, if Polish units enter, for example, Lviv or other territories of Ukraine, then they will remain there. And they will remain forever. And in this, by the way, there will be nothing new. Let me remind you that after the defeat of Germany and its allies, following the results of the First World War, Polish units occupied Lviv and the adjacent lands that then belonged to Austria-Hungary. Poland, instigated by the West, also took advantage of the tragedy of the Civil War in Russia, annexed some historical Russian provinces. Our country, which was then in a difficult situation, was forced to conclude the Riga Treaty in 1921 and actually recognize the rejection of its territories. And even earlier, in 1920, Poland seized part of Lithuania, the Vilna Region, the territory around modern Vilnius. It seems that together with the Lithuanians they fought against the so-called "Russian imperialism", and as soon as the opportunity turned up, they immediately "cut off" a piece of land from their neighbors. Poland, as you know, also participated in the partition of Czechoslovakia as a result of the Munich agreement with Hitler in 1938. Completely occupied Tesin Silesia. In the 20-30s of the last century, in the so-called Eastern Districts of Poland, which is the territory of Western Ukraine, Western Belarus and part of Lithuania, there was a strict polonization and assimilation of local residents, there was a suppression of national cultures, Orthodoxy. I would also like to remind you how such an aggressive policy ended for Poland as a result. It ended with the national tragedy of 1939, when Poland was thrown by the Western Allies to be "eaten" by the German military machine and actually lost its independence and statehood, which was restored to a great extent thanks to the Soviet Union. And it was thanks to the Soviet Union, thanks to Stalin's position, that Poland received significant lands in the West, the lands of Germany. This is exactly the case, the western territories of present–day Poland are Stalin's gift to the Poles. Have our friends in Warsaw forgotten about it? We will remind you. Today we see that the regime in Kiev is ready to do anything to save its corrupt "skin" and prolong its existence. They don't care about the people of Ukraine, its sovereignty and national interests. They will trade everything, both people and land. Also, by the way, like their ideological predecessors, the Petliurists, who in 1920 concluded so-called secret conventions with Poland, according to which, in exchange for military support, they gave Poland the lands of Galicia and Western Volhynia. Even today, such traitors are ready to "open the gates" for foreign owners and once again sell Ukraine. As for the Polish leaders, they probably expect to form a coalition under the "NATO umbrella" and directly intervene in the conflict in Ukraine in order to then "tear off" a fatter piece for themselves, to regain, as they believe, their historical territories – today's Western Ukraine. It is well known that they also dream of Belarusian lands. As for the policy of the Ukrainian regime, this is his business. They want, as is usual with traitors, to hand over something, sell something, pay off the owners with something - this, I repeat, in the end, is their business. We will not interfere in this. But as for Belarus, it is part of the Union State, unleashing aggression against Belarus will mean aggression against the Russian Federation. We will respond to this with all the means at our disposal. The Polish authorities, hatching their revanchist plans, do not tell the truth to their people either. And the truth is that the Ukrainian "cannon fodder" is clearly not enough for the West, not enough. Therefore, they plan to use a new expendable material – the Poles themselves, the Lithuanians and further down the list, everyone who is not sorry. I will say one thing – this is a very dangerous game, and the authors of such plans should think about the consequences."

The Russian ambassador in Warsaw will be summoned to the Foreign Ministry because of Putin's words about Stalin's transfer of lands to Poland
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon Russian Ambassador Sergei Andreev. The reason was the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Poland received "significant lands in the west, the lands of Germany" thanks to the decision of the USSR and Joseph Stalin.

"Stalin was a war criminal, guilty of the death of hundreds of thousands of Poles. The historical truth is not discussed. The Russian Ambassador will be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Mr. Moravetsky wrote on Twitter.

Vladimir Putin on the eve of July 21, at a meeting of the Russian Security Council, called the western territories of present-day Poland "Joseph Stalin's gift to the Poles." According to the Russian president, Polish leaders "expect to form a coalition under the NATO umbrella, intervene in the military conflict in Ukraine and tear off a fatter piece," that is, "get part of the land in Belarus."

The USSR recognized responsibility for the murder of thousands of Polish prisoners of war held in NKVD camps in the 1940s only in 1990 (the tragedy was called the "Katyn Execution" at one of the execution sites). The State Duma of the Russian Federation in 2010 adopted a statement on the responsibility of the USSR authorities and Joseph Stalin personally for this. Vladimir Putin, as prime minister in 2010, stated that Russia "understands the heightened feelings of Poles associated with Katyn" and called for "keeping together the memory of the victims of this crime."

Greece urged to ask Russia for planes to extinguish fires
Greek ex-minister urged to ask Russia for Be-200 aircraft to extinguish fires

ATHENS, July 23 — RIA Novosti. Fires in Greece cannot be extinguished without Russian Be-200 amphibious aircraft, former Defense Minister Panos Kammenos said.

"Nothing works without Beriev. Let's bow our heads and ask for help now. They will give us..." he wrote on Twitter.

Greek media have been recalling Russian firefighters in recent days. In an article on the olimpia website. It is also noted that the pro-government TV channels ANT1 and Skai praised the "Russian giant" Beriev-200 in the summer of 2021. However, just a year later, due to the special operation in Ukraine, the opinion of the local authorities has changed. The new Minister for the Climate crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianides, began to argue that Beriev is useless in fires in Greece, and its lease in connection with the situation in Ukraine cannot continue.
"I will say my personal opinion, because I want to be bold in what I say: these planes are not for the Mediterranean. In essence, we are talking about the Russian steppes. We and the Greek relief need a different type of aircraft. To be honest, I am relieved to note that we will not have it to strengthen air assets," Stylianides said on the air of the Skai radio station at the time.
Kammenos was the Minister of National Defense of Greece in 2015-2019 and advocated good relations with both Russia and America. At the same time, he offered to provide the United States with new military bases. Some subscribers supported him, noting, however, that the Americans would not allow Russia to ask for help. But most of them criticized the ex-minister, claiming that Russian planes did not help much in such situations. However, the Be-200 proved to be excellent at extinguishing forest fires in Greece in 2021, which was also recognized by local experts.
Fires in Rhodes cannot be extinguished since Tuesday. From the central part of the island, the fire reached the southeastern coast. The authorities took 19 thousand people, including tourists, to safe places. According to police, this is the largest fire evacuation ever carried out in Greece.
В Греции призвали попросить у России самолеты для тушения пожаров

This is not being said by some university professor-theorist divorced from real life, but by a minister, albeit a former one. And not some kind of library minister (if there is one at all), but the Minister of Defense. Minister of Defense of a NATO and EU member state. In this regard, I recall a phrase from a joke about a drunken priest: father, you either take off the cross or put on your underpants. I didn't hear much (at least to me) of Greece's voices against NATO expansion or against the freezing/confiscation of Russian assets. Greece, like almost all NATO members, supplies weapons to Ukraine and here you are... And what's most interesting is that he's probably right. He is right that most likely "they will be given" if they ask.

Russia has achieved a significant victory in the battle for control over global oil markets. The price of its flagship Urals grade of oil has breached the $60-a-barrel limit, which was imposed by Western countries to limit funds available to Russia for its war in Ukraine. This is the first time the price has exceeded the cap since the sanctions policy was introduced in December last year. It indicates that the Kremlin has been successful in adapting to the limitations imposed on them.

The Western economic-pressure campaign aims to target Russia’s main source of revenue and weaken its war efforts, while also encouraging Russian producers to continue exporting oil. Last month, Russia’s oil-export revenues dropped to just over half of their level from the previous year, impacting the nation’s budget due to the cap, an embargo on Russian oil in Europe, and a decline in exports.

There are signs that the financial pressure on Moscow may be easing, as the discount for Urals compared to benchmark Brent has narrowed to $20 a barrel. While still significantly wider than pre-war times, this is an improvement from January when the gap was twice as large.

In addition to output cuts by OPEC+, Russia’s crude prices have been pushed above the cap due to high demand in Asia, where Russian producers are competing with Saudi oil. Russia’s efforts to form an alternative network of tankers that are not subject to sanctions have contributed to the erosion of Western influence over its oil exports.

Analysts suggest that Russian oil companies have demonstrated their capability and determination to stay in business and make money, putting in significant effort throughout the evolutionary process. There has been a shift in attitude from Russian producers, who had previously been willing to negotiate prices, but now seem less receptive to accommodating Western players in the market as the Urals oil price approaches $60.

ICC judge Tomoko Akane, who issued a warrant for Putin's arrest, was put on the wanted list

MOSCOW, July 27. /tass/. The judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Tomoko Akane, who issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children's ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, has been put on the wanted list under a criminal article. This follows from the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The judge who issued the arrest warrant for Putin, Rosario Aitala, appeared in the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia
The UK has opened a case against the prosecutor and judges of the ICC
"Tomoko Akane. Japanese. He is wanted under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the database says. According to which article it is not indicated in the search card.

On March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin and the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, on charges of alleged involvement in war crimes "consisting in the illegal deportation of the population," including children, and their illegal transfer to Russia. On March 20, the IC of Russia opened a criminal case against ICC Prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan and judges Rosario Salvatore Aitala, Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godines and Tomoko Akane, considering that their actions are obviously illegal, since there are no grounds for bringing the President of Russia and the Children's Ombudsman to criminal responsibility. In May, charges were brought against Karim Khan and Rosario Aitala, they were put on the wanted list.

In accordance with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons of December 14, 1973, heads of State enjoy absolute immunity from the jurisdiction of foreign States.

What can we expect from these negotiations? The appearance of the "Kim" PMC in Ukraine or the appearance of North Korean weapons in the Russian army is possible. They say that the North Koreans have very serious MLRS systems. It could be tested in combat conditions.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu met with North Korean President Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang. The head of the Defense Ministry conveyed to the North Korean leader a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA) reports.

The KCNA report emphasizes that the meeting will help to further deepen ties between the DPRK and the Russian Federation.

Sergei Shoigu arrived in North Korea on July 25. In the DPRK, he took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the armistice in the Korean War. This is the first visit of a high-ranking delegation from Russia to the DPRK since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. On July 26, the Russian Defense Minister held talks with his North Korean counterpart Kang Sun Nam in Pyongyang.

That tweet is a month old, not sure what's the point in posting it now? Anyway, if Prigozhin should have been arrested, he would have been arrested. As Doctorow said just a day after the mutiny, apparently Putin thought differently. And I don't think how the West might perceive it was among Putin's concerns. It used to be, but is not anymore. Anyway, what Doctorov was expressing in that clip, was the dream dreamed by neo-liberal circles within and around the power structures in Russia, and by economic hawks abroad. But that's just a min and a half long clip, so it's possible there was more context to it that's been left out.

EDIT: Sorry, somehow misread the date of Ca.'s post. :-[

August 1, 2023 will mark the relaunch date of Russia’s electronic visa (E-Visa). Authorities at the Kremlin have announced that the online visa will be available to eligible travelers from the start of the month

According to the statement from Russia’s Foreign Ministry, citizens of 52 different countries will be able to obtain an electronic visa.

When the E-Visa was previously launched in 2020, over 50 nationalities were eligible, and it is believed that most, if not all, of these will be able to apply from August.

These nationalities include citizens of European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Turkey, among others.

In the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement, it is stated that passengers will be able to get the electronic visa by submitting an application online.

The visa will allow the traveler a single entry to the Russian Federation for any of the following purposes:
  • Holidays/tourism
  • Business trips
  • Guest of a Russian citizen/resident/organization
  • Participate in sporting events
  • Participate in cultural events
  • Participate in scientific, sociopolitical, or economic events
The visa is said to be valid for use for 60 days and the holder must enter the country during this time. Once in Russia, the E-Visa allows a stay of up to 16 days.

This allows passengers with an E-Visa to enter the country by air, land, or sea.

The electronic visa will now be a unified visa for access to the whole country. This was Russia’s ultimate goal to make traveling easier and encourage more visitors to promote tourism in the nation.
