finally started on detox diet

Hi Mona,

I'm very happy your mother is getting better and better.

On a side note, I've also experienced some serious health issues and in addition to diet, supplements, breathing and sauna, the coffee enemas have been (and still are) amazingly helpful.

Basically it helps opening the bile duct allowing the liver to expel toxins. Knowing that liver is the major detox organ it seems essential to maximize its execration capacities.

If you're interested, you can have a look in the search engine (coffee + enema), several threads are dealing with this topic.

Best wishes for your mother's recovery.

Wowee. Glad you shared all that mona. :)

I just wanted to say that i'm now taking 5htp and vitamin c supplements, and i believe i will continue as such, since there is a marked improvement i've noticed
in the 3,4 days i've been using them.

So where does one go from here on the supplements? A multivitamin? I need to re-read the other threads regarding supplements, maybe take the ultra mind quizzes again. I'm always evaluating myself now. I'm noticing now that lots of carbs make me  and I hate that.

Good idea. In doing so and according to your results, you will be able to know what is better for you as vitamins, minerals or others.

Yeah, a multivitamin, some magnesium, and fish oils as well are very important supplements because we do not get enough of any of them in our diet. I would highly recommend reading Mark Hyman's The Ultramind Solution for a great primer on the whole detoxing, supplementing, and dieting subject. I know that it isn't cheap to live this way but when you see the difference it makes in your life you will not hesitate to shell out the bucks. :)

Well, when you figure in the overall cost of bad health, WHY NOT? Hospitalization is expensive, and i'm not going to be worn out by the time i'm 40, so help me god.

I had a debate with a friend last week, his opinion is that when you get old your body just craps out. My take is that old people get that way because they never took

very good care of themselves, and when you add in the toxins and the pollution and etc., oh my gooooood. :O It's no wonder. He actually tried to convince me that i

have no say in whether i'm going to be healthy when i get older.

Abstract, I meet people like that all the time. It is sad that people think that we have no control over our health when we get old. No wonder over 50% of old people are on some medication. But everyone has a choice.I was skeptical and I did need to see my mom's blood results in order to really believe if the program worked. I also had a choice to just stay skeptical and do nothing,or be still skeptical and at least try giving the program a chance to prove itself. I have always loved helping people but now I realize that if the person does not want the help then they really do not want the help. The world is a one big mess, and it seems that everyone wants to use others for their own financial benefit, but there are always exceptions to the rules. People just have to find a balance in whom and in what to trust.

I am just glad that my mom is getting better. It's all good. Now, even the aliens can land in front of my window:scared:Just kidding.

This is gross, buuuuuuuut...

Hey guys, good to be back again, after a bit of unintentional intermission. Now I have a bit of questions here. In the past few days, i've had two instances where I take my supplements, and not 20 maybe 30 minutes later, BLEEEEEEEHHHHHHHH. I throw up. I know it's the supplements i throw up because i can smell it. (sorry, yeah it's gross.)

So those two times i threw up, i had taken the pills on an empty stomach. I'm taking a B-stress supplement, minerals, 5htp, and vitamin c. I did not puke until i started adding in the minerals. Today, out of fear of vomiting, I cut back the dose on the B-vitamins and drank a little milk to have something in the stomach, and did not vomit this time.

So by process of elimination i've narrowed it down to either not taking the pills with food, or maybe the recomended dose for the B-vitamins is actually too much for me?

When i threw up i could smell those b vitamins real strong, if you take 'em you know what i'm talking about. so that's my best guess as of now. Tomorrow i shall continue the experiment, seeing if cutting the B-dosage (with empty stomach) is okay, because i don't like to eat after i wake up.

Welcome back abstract. Sorry to hear your vitamins are making you barf.

In college I learned the hard way that taking any kind of vitamin, especially the B's, on an empty stomach leads to vomiting not long after. Since then I've made a point to take vitamins with food.

If you don't want to eat a full meal, try an Ultrashake from the recipe section. That's another one I've tried that also works. The only supplement I take on an empty stomach is a probiotic.

Another idea? Cut back the to the number of vitamins you took before, and take the rest with a small breakfast?

Hope this helps. :)

Milk is a no-go. The casein in it coats your guts like glue (remember the picture of the cow on the Elmer's glue bottles?) and keeps you from absorbing nutrients just for starters. So, you're wasting your dough by drinking milk at all and especially by drinking it with your supplements. How about taking the supplements with real food?

That's a good tip.

I might have to work something out, i am not a breakfast eater, at all.

Hi Abstract :D

I throw up too, if I don't eat something before taking my supplements.

You don't eat breakfast?

You don't have to eat a full meal when you first wake up. A piece of fruit, can of sardines, detox shake, some leftovers... anything will do. Of course, who says you have to take all your vitamins first thing in the morning either? When you take your first meal, take your vitamins.

well, i don't exactly wake up in the "morning".

But i usually get off to work not too long after waking, assuming im scheduled, so its just more convenient to take the vitamins when i wake up and get that boost for the 8 or 10 hour shift. I need to bring something simple to work, like seeds or nuts and something to drink that isn't coffee or soda. I don't get a scheduled break, i have to wait until it's slow to catch a cigarette, so i don't really get time to have a "proper" meal.

Abstract:
Is this a problem that i need to correct?
Hard to say--when I was young and worked nights I had no appetite in the morning either and felt fine; now that I'm over 55 my physical machine seems to work better with a decent breakfast, full lunch, and light dinner--just the opposite of my 20s and 30s. Until you work out what feeding schedule works best for your body, you might carry your supplements with you and take them later in the day with some substantial food. I do not know anyone who can successfully take many vitamins, especially Bs, without something in their stomach--just the thought of it makes me queasy!.
Good Luck,
shellycheval

PS--also I think there are many vitamins that require some elements from food to process properly and give the full benefit.
