FOTCM: Application for Membership

Maybe it is also important to have a neutral gender, for someone who isn't female or male? Unfortunately I don't know the right word for it (transgender maybe?)

Its my understanding that 'gender' is the term used for those who are transgender as well as for those who are not transgender; it designates one as a man or woman. 'Sex' represents whether someone is biologically a male or a female. So for example someone could biologically be a female but have the gender of a man.

I tweaked/edited the form I posted at the beginning of this thread so until a pdf is available, use it. Just paste into word processor, format if needed, print, fill out and mail it in. You can also send a scanned copy of it (must be legible) to me via email as long as the original is in the mail! laura(at)cassiopaea.org

Hi Lucas,

Laura responded to that question here. :)

Where you could write: "... I'm known as -Lucas- in the (cassiopaean) forum" for example.

Vulcan, you got me, the second time now with the same idea. ;D

I'll be sending out my application today - very exciting!!!

Regarding the gender question and the brief transgender discussion, I think the form now excludes transgender individuals cause it mixes both 'sex' (male, female) and 'gender' (man, woman). I think if you leave the question open after gender then that should probably cover it. This is an issue at my agency that we've been trying to work out in our forms as well.

Good idea.
There is a place on the pdf form to put that kind of info and its called "Additional Info". The form handle can go there.

Hi mocachapeau,

the pdf form you're looking for exists but has not yet been made available. It is currently under review.
It should be available soon through Laura and the Fellowship.

Not at this time. In the future, yes, but for now, the form is in English and needs to be filled out in English.

Access to the New Forum

We are working on setting up the private FOTCM forum and I've already encountered a few issues. First of all, I'm doing a pretty heavy load of work just taking care of the applications, so it will help me a LOT if ya'll will use external considering when filling them out.

First: those who fill apps out by hand, be VERY careful to make sure your writing is legible. I've already got apps that I can't read.

Second: If you want to be part of the online FOTCM discussion, I'll need to give you account permissions on the forum here. That means I need to know your forum name and/or email address so I can easily find you to do that. Already, I have apps that give email addies that are NOT the ones used to sign up on the forum so when I do a search to give that individual permission to access the forum, it gives no return. I don't think I should be expected to write a bunch of emails just to figure out how to get you in the forum. You need to make it easy on me here!

If I think of anything else, I'll add it to this post.

Re: Access to the New Forum

I'm going to say sorry in advance because I'm probably one of those with small illegible handwriting :-[. Yeah, I should have thought of being externally considerate in that, but I was eager to send mine in. I can send in a neater one when then PDF file comes out. My apologies.
