heavy metal, extreme styles

I am a gigantic fan of metal! Iron Maiden has got to be my all-time favorite, but if you are into Sumerian mythology, you have to check out Melechesh :P. I have 3 metal band projects that I work on regularly. I have no prejudice against any sub-genre, except for maybe the mainstream, radio-friendly stuff. Metal is cathartic and energizing, and I will never cease to enjoy it. Also thanks to metal, I have been introduced to a lot of unique ideas, like how to properly wield an axe and the nature of reality. Currently my favorite album would have to be To the Nameless Dead by Primordial, a black-metal band from Ireland featuring some beautiful, powerful vocals. It's a great listen. To each, his own. Metal forever \m/  \m/

I listen to everything, but metal is definitely my favorite. I remember listening to bands in high school like testament and slayer, and the lyrics made me think about the political and social events going on, which led me to start questioning things more. I was a rebellious teenager who went to a catholic school, and they told us one day that if you listen to bands like iron maiden, you would go to hell. I think that's because some of the music can challenge you to think for yourself more. But I would agree that there are some bands out there that contribute nothing for art's sake and are full of psychopaths. Anyways, I just got into meshuggah anyone here have any thoughts on them?
