how to get un-bored?

Hey abstract, very nice -- and nice phrygian riff behind the solo too. Is that you on drums as well, or did you get help?

phrygian it was not, shijing, diminished! notice the flat 5 in the riff behind the solo, i think it sounded more phrygian just because i dont think i had
a major 3 anywhere in there, there is a flat 2 of course!

for the video try to get something more than a one-line text :p
can modify that in the future.

Could be wrong, but to me the drums sounded like a sequencer (having worked on computer sequenced music quite a lot in the past).
Yup, robo-drums! Too accurate to be human, i'm always trying to make them sound more real, i think i accomplished that with the kick drum, the other stuff is kinda in progress on the tones.

I do feel a little less bored now that i have cranked something out for the first time in a while!

Yeah, it was the flat 2 that I was keying into, but I stand corrected :)

Uhmmm, you know he just put up the video so we could hear him play, right? He did it really quickly, so I doubt the video itself was the focus - thus the text. ;)

OH - it just struck me that perhaps you're joking? (apologies if I missed your intent on that...) :)

If anyone just so happens to be interested, those drums ain't real, and those guitar tones aren't real either. Sounds like i got a 4X12 right? nope, digital impulse.
This is the magic of computers, ladies and gentlemen! :scared: 1's and 0's and microchips created music! That's part of why I got bored, it is too easy these days.

Hey Abstract. I'm new here and I was reading through all the posts. How about using a guitar effects Delay pedal with a built in modulation. I find it fun playing with triplets and other settings that you might find inspiring.

Hi Desmond, and welcome to the forum --

Since you're new and this is your first post, why not give yourself an introduction in the Newbies section? Just tell us a bit about yourself and how you found your way to the forum.

You got me -- I had no idea that even the guitar was digital! But even though you know you can do all of this digitally, why not do something on your real guitar -- at least while you are feeling bored? There is a huge difference between programming something and actually playing it -- even if someone can't tell the difference over YouTube, it doesn't mean that there isn't a whole range of gratification you can get out of doing it yourself with an actual instrument. I'm not down on digital music per se -- I think that can be fun in its own right; but I don't think programming can really replace the creative process of doing things the old-fashioned way, even if it can mimic the sound.

Ahh...makes sense abstract, regarding the boredom aspect.

allow me to clarify, I DID play a real guitar, the tone was digital.

Oh, OK, I misunderstood you -- I stand corrected twice in one evening ;) That makes most of my previous post void then...

So just as an FYI, i'm gonna start putting stuff up on that channel on a regular basis now...if anyone else has a youtube channel let me/us know. although, i can just adjust my profile to have a link to my youtube, right??? i'm pretty sure i can do that...

I figured out, at last, what got me so bored in the first place!!

The cassiopaeans have remarked on obsession, which causes stagnation in a person's life.
It is hard to explain at the moment so I cannot go into detail. I figured out that certain music-associated
obsessions were keeping other parts of my "musical mind" so to speak, from developing.

So basically, the solution here, I think, is to branch out into another completely different area
of doing music. Thats it. I'm bored with one thing, so i'm going to another. :cool2:

Yeah, it's several different sets of issues. i'm bored with the musicians around here, i'm bored with my own playing, etc. and so forth.

All I do lately is wake up at the crack of 2:00 pm, go to work, come home at night, listen to a little music, maybe do a binaural beat, meditate, check out the forum and smoke.

Or maybe, you can devote some time paying atention to the needs of those you have near and find out how you can contribute to help, there is always something we can do, if we forget for a moment our own selfish "needs"... OSIT

What's so wrong about being bored after all ?

I think that boredom can be a springboard to new things, I know it's not as easy at it sounds where you think you've seen and done it all, God...I mean, Divine cosmic mind knows how much I've been bored to death by doing the same things without joy or excitation.

During my youth I think that being bored has helped me to develop my imagination to a certain extent, or at least it was a start to explore my own inner world.

I think this is why we are saturated with so much external stimulus because getting bored is one way to start exploring what's going on inside of you and it ain't pretty sometimes.
I think boredom can be linked to depression (in a healthy way, maybe not because of the food or psychic illness but even so if there is a seed there is a seed) and maybe to start seeing things as they are so it's important for the power in place to distract you as much as they can osit.

I know I starve, and most probably everyone else on the forum, for "something else" but nothing can fulfill me, it's only temporary, there will always be a time, no matter the activity that it will reach a descending and contracting phase. I guess that's 3D for you :)

Is there any 4D boredom ?!

My two cents.

I don't think there is nothing inherently negative about it, though I wonder if it is an imbalance in wich someone is paying more attention to its own lack of self-gratifying experiences than to a more balanced one in wich an individual makes an effort to be in contact with the outside world looking for the succesfull integration and evolution of both.
