Speaking about HBOT and myopia, perhaps this article could give some answers.

In conclusion, high-altitude exposure is associated with significant increases in choroidal thickness and retinal DA levels, with D1R and D2R expression patterns varying in response to changes in retinal DA. These findings may represent a key molecular mechanism contributing to the lower incidence of myopia observed at high altitudes.


It seems that low altitude conditions could decrease dopamine in the eyes and that could lead to myopia.

So, they (low and higher pressure) have common positiv effects but what is surprising is that they have, on some particular aspects, different positive effects, it's regarding the cytokines. It's all i can summarize at my level (ie im not a Dr...)

Probably, but we are here talking about people who experience myopia after using the HBOT. And it seems that it is quite a common thing. And it seems that it is connected to dopamine in the eyes. And if that is the case, then perhaps increasing the dopamine in some way could prevent this from happening. Some people talk about using the eye drops with L-Dopa. Others say that bright light can increase dopamine. Perhaps people who have a low level of dopamine are particularly sensitive to myopia after the HBOT.

In light of this video I am leaning towards the idea of starting HBOT at low pressure before switching to high pressure because it seems to be better in fighting inflammation which I think is a very common problem.Of course there can be specific reasons to do the opposite, for example certain infections like borreliosis.
 
I recently found this thread and started doing HBOT myself. I'm currently doing session 9 I think. I haven't really been keeping a close track on things.

I figure I'll end up needing hundreds of sessions in total due to my injuries. Lots of car accidents and my osteopath thinks I've suffered 5-6 concussions based on his palpations of my head. So I've been doing it at a clinic until my own unit arrives later this month. I don't really want to get SPECT scans before and after since it requires a radioactive tracer. Without a scan like that there will be no objective way to know for sure when I'll be healed so I figure I'll just end up doing north of 200, maybe even more. Without any hard data to go off of I'm just going to do a ton of them.

The results have been remarkable so far. Beyond the mTBI stuff I still have lots of lingering other issues, lots of chronic pain and misalignment of vertebrae, sacral/pelvic issues, and my ribs are somewhat compressed. I've been doing body work for years and HBOT is like a miracle drug. The tension has been melting off of me. Deep injuries my fascia are healing, pain is receding and my body is finally starting to assume its proper shape after close to 3 decades.

It's very exciting and I'm very grateful to Laura and the forum, because I had never heard about this before and probably wouldn't have thought to try it if I had.

Since vitamin C, even liposomal, disturbs my circadian rhythm, I am going to be experimenting with astraxanthan and lutein for antioxidant support. Gram-for-gram, a 2007 in-vitro study found it is 6000x more potent as a quencher of oxidative radicals than ascorbic acid is. To boot, it both water-soluble and fat-soluble! Astraxanthin also crosses the blood-retina barrier, while lutein helps directly support the health of the eyes by quenching radicals in the retina, as well as from photodamage from blue and UV light.

The only caveat I found is that it should be taken with food or fats to improve absorption, so it may take a week or two of taking it for it to really saturate my system enough to rely less on Vit C for antioxidant support.

I'll report back what effects I notice. Doing oxygen therapy without an antioxidant makes my body and skin literally feel "burnt" on a cellular level. It's hard to describe, but definitely is not ideal.

The implications of the studies cited above are extremely exciting, as the proportion of the elderly and the number of patients with cognitive decline increase in the population. Researchers validated the significant benefits of ASX supplementation for healthy aging. Consequently, the demand and research for natural ASX for human health are increasing extensively worldwide. This review highlighted important ASX-associated clinical trials and explored many clues for research on the nutritional aspects of healthy ASX to learn much more about its value for healthy aging and for the management of age-related disorders.
