While the memes about this on X (and, no doubt, elsewhere) are humorous (and often flagrantly anti-Semitic), it's really much ado about nothing.I don't know if this is the right thread, but something weird is going on. It turns out that the Chabad Lubavitch religious community was raided by the police of New York for the construction of an illegal tunnel. This same collective is the one to which the current president of Argentina, Javier Milei, subscribes.
And I don't know if all this turmoil is related to the events in Israel. I have the impression that something is being revealed.
Since then, one of the two involved factions called in a concrete truck and police to seal off the excavated underground chambers, resulting in the animated stand-off we've seen all over social media.Shock and horror in Crown Heights after a tunnel was found burrowed underground in the most unlikely of places, under 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
No, we really aren’t joking. Not an Israeli replica of 770 in Eretz Yisroel. 770 Eastern Parkway, the Headquarters of Lubavitch in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, United States.
The accidental discovery happened nearly three weeks ago after a series of incidents rang alarm bells with the Gabboim of 770.
A Union Street homeowner who spoke with CrownHeights.info said that they had been hearing suspicious noises at night in their home for a period of time. As the noise continued, the concerned homeowner notified someone of the sounds and their suspicion.
Around the same time, construction work was underway placing new plumbing near 770. As the work neared completion, a trench was dug to lay a waterline and the surprised workers were shocked to find what appeared to be a tunnel underground, according to a source familiar with the incident.
Putting the pieces together, one of the workers in 770 investigated and got the shock of his life when he discovered the tunnel, burrowed from the Mikvah on the corner of Union Street and Kingston Ave. The tunnel allegedly extended from the Mikvah under the Kingston Ave women’s section of 770, where it exited into the building.
While details on the tunnel remain scarce, and with some rumors spreading, it appears that a group of bochurim began digging around six months ago in an attempt to “expand 770”.
Working at night for an extended period of time, the bochurim began digging from the Mikvah building and hollowed out a tunnel that sounds eerily similar to those used by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The tunnel, while “amateurish” managed to extend all the way to 770 where it burrowed under the Kingston Ave women’s section, possibly destabilizing it.
Shocked and horrified at what was found, the 770 Gabboim made the decision to close off the now possibly unsafe women’s section to the public as decisions are made on how to secure the building.
With the tunnel discovered, the parties involved will now have to grapple with some difficult questions such as who will be responsible for the damage caused by the tunnel? Will criminal charges have to be brought against the bochurim? With the 770 building still under dispute, those questions will become exponentially more complicated.
WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN - AT GUNPOINT
This is extremely explosive.
Unconfirmed. Pure shadowplay. Comes from a Persian Gulf source.
The CIA may be - intentionally or otherwise - allied with the Houthis when it comes to the closure, for all practical purposes, of the Suez Canal.
That translates into financially pressuring Egypt to accept the 2.3 million population of Gaza, complete with a Mafioso "incentive" of $10 billion.
Crucially, the Hegemon has not taken any significant action against the Houthis - apart from the largely rhetorical Operation Protect Genocide.
Cairo has firmly refused to accept the Israeli-engineered Palestinian Exodus.
Yet the pressure is relentless. Memos have been sent to Egyptian advisers reminding them of their ultra-precarious financial situation.
What the source does not consider is that Egypt is now an official BRICS 10 member.
Russia-China, shadowplay style, must have made their moves to assure Cairo they've got their back.
There are 120 members in the Israeli Knesset, but one man towers above them all. His name is Ofer Cassif, and he is, perhaps, the most despised man in Israel. His crime—if you can call it that—is that he put his moral convictions into practice by signing a petition in support of “the upcoming hearing at the International Court of Justice in The Hague”… “accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.” (Times of Israel) Here’s what he said:
“My constitutional duty is to Israeli society and all its residents, not to a government whose members and its coalition are calling for ethnic cleansing and even actual genocide.”
Naturally, Cassif’s comments have been universally condemned in Israel where some surveys show more than 80 percent of Israelis support the current military operation in Gaza. Also, a number of Cassif’s most strident critics have called for the ethics committee to remove him from the Knesset after he announced his intentions. (According to Israeli media: 70 members of the Knesset have already voted to remove Ofer as soon as Monday morning.) Even so, the beleaguered lawmaker has courageously withstood the blistering attacks and forged ahead with his righteous crusade.
The Jerusalem Post provided an example of the attacks on Ofer’s character by other members of the Knesset. Here’s what MK Oded Forer said:
“The treasonous words of MK Kasif can no longer be heard while the blood of our soldiers and citizens is crying out from the ground. MK Kasif, who was previously disqualified from running for the Knesset following a petition I submitted to the election committee, has chosen during the war to join one of the most destructive initiatives for the security of the State of Israel, and thus he supports the struggle of Hamas against Israel. He must soon find himself beyond the borders of the Knesset and preferably beyond the borders of the State of Israel. Israeli far-left lawmaker joins Gaza genocide lawsuit at ICJ” The Jerusalem Post
While MK Oded Forer’s opinion is not uncommon in Israel, it is widely disputed in the rest of the world where the vast majority of humanity feel that the IDF’s vicious rampage in Gaza is not just a ghastly and unjustifiable massacre of innocent civilians, but also stain on Israel’s reputation that will never be wiped clean. Add to that, the fact that the prosecution has compiled voluminous evidence that Israel’s actions in Gaza are “genocidal in character, as they are committed with the requisite specific intent… to destroy Palestinians in Gaza as a part of the broader Palestinian national, racial and ethnical group.” The facts speak for themselves.
The truth is, it takes a real patriot to stand up to a raging mob and tell them ‘they’re wrong.’ And that is what Cassif has done. He has defended the defenseless and openly defied the fanatics and pychos who control the levers of state power. He even admitted as much when he said the following:
“Those who hurt the country and the people are the ones who led South Africa to turn to The Hague, not me and my friends.”
Bravo, Ofer. You are an inspiration to us all. Take a minute and watch this short clip of Cassif at a Palestinian protest delivering a powerful statement on human rights while the shots ring-out and tear gas can be seen wafting behind him. Tell me this guy doesn’t have balls of steel.
Cassif: “All the world should know what is going on here. Do not support this neo-Nazi government.”
Here’s more from an article at The Times Of Israel:
Cassif is one of some 200 Israelis who are signing onto a petition of support for South Africa’s case, Ynet reports. In the petition, they say they wish to “add our voice as citizens of Israel to the claims…that South Africa submitted to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in the hope that our voice will help reach a decision that will bring an immediate end to the war.” Israeli lawmaker signs petition supporting Hague genocide hearings on Gaza War, Times of Israel
It’s hard to image the threats, harassment and even physical violence Cassif and his allies are currently experiencing, and with no end in sight. After all, nations, like people, can go bonkers for long periods of time before ‘the ship rights itself’ and sanity is restored. Times like these require clear-eyed men whose views rest on a rock-solid moral foundation. Cassif appears to fill the bill to a “T”. Here he is again:
“When the government acts against society, the state, and its citizens, especially when it sacrifices them and commits crimes in their name on the altar of maintaining its existence, it is my right and even my duty to warn about this and do everything I can within the law to stop it.”
After which, he adds…
“I will not give up the fight for our existence as a moral society. This is true patriotism…”
Indeed, it is.
Israel Knesset member Ofer Cassif has to be one of the bravest individuals in Israel, not to mention Israeli politics. He is one of the very few (very public) souls there who is vociferously speaking out against his government's atrocities in Gaza.
Needless to say, he is utterly reviled by the vast majority of his colleagues and there's no doubt the military, intelligence agencies, and crazies in power will seek to make an example out of his virtuous position and outspokenness.
From this article:
... (Ecuador - interesting)Having been unable to agree on the draft presidential statement in late December and as the attacks continued, the Council held a briefing and consultations last week (3 January) on the situation, at the request of Ecuador, France, Guyana, Japan, Malta, the Republic of Korea (ROK), the UK, and the US. During the consultations, Japan and the US announced their intention to propose a resolution.
The draft resolution in blue condemns in the strongest terms the at least 24 Houthi attacks on merchant and commercial vessels since 19 November 2023, demanding that the group immediately cease all such attacks, as well as release the Galaxy Leader and its crew. The draft text in blue affirms that the exercise of navigational rights and freedoms by merchant and commercial vessels, in accordance with international law, must be respected. It further takes note of the right of member states, in accordance with international law, to defend their vessels from attacks, including those that undermine navigational rights and freedoms.
Although Council members appear to be united in their concern about the Houthi attacks and their impact on global maritime shipping, several members had reservations about the proposed text. An overarching issue since members first considered the draft presidential statement has been the link between the Houthi attacks and the conflict in Gaza. Several members raised this point at the 3 January briefing. China, for example, highlighted that only by achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and easing the humanitarian crisis on the ground could a further escalation in the Red Sea and other parts of the Middle East be averted. During the consultations, when the discussion focused more on the co-penholders’ plan for a resolution, members apparently raised such questions as how a product condemning the Houthi attacks would be perceived in parts of the world when the Council cannot call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The draft resolution in blue reflects several members’ proposals aimed at indicating the link with the broader regional context. While language specifically referencing Gaza that Algeria and Russia apparently proposed was not accommodated, the draft resolution was updated to emphasise the need to address “the root causes, including the conflicts contributing to regional tensions and the disruption of maritime security”. Slovenia also apparently proposed language acknowledging the “regional” context. Along with a suggestion by Switzerland, which sought to strengthen the text’s call to avoid an escalation of the situation, these proposals are reflected in the draft resolution in blue, which urges “caution and restraint to avoid further escalation in the Red Sea and the broader region”. Based on proposals by Algeria and China, the draft text in blue also includes language encouraging enhanced diplomatic efforts by all parties to avoid escalation, including continued support for dialogue and Yemen’s peace process under UN auspices.
It seems that Russia initially pushed back against the need for a Council product, in part by contending that Council members already issued the 1 December 2023 press statement which contained several of the key messages first set out in the presidential statement and later incorporated in the draft resolution. The co-penholders countered that there was a need, given that attacks had continued since the press statement was issued.
One matter that seemed to be of particular concern for Russia was language on the right of states to defend their merchant and naval vessels and the apparent endorsement that this provides for Operation Prosperity Guardian. Other members also voiced concerns about this paragraph, including its ambiguous language. Over the course of the negotiations, the contested paragraph was revised, first to highlight the navigational rights and freedoms of merchant and commercial vessels. It was also amended, among other changes, to “take note of”, instead of “recognizing”, the right of member states, in accordance with international law, to take appropriate measures to defend their vessels from attacks. But requests by Russia, as well as China, to delete completely the language about states’ right to defend their vessels has not been accommodated.
Another issue for Russia was language in the text related to the origins of Houthi arms. The US appeared keen to indicate Iran’s responsibility in supplying arms to the Houthis, which violates resolution 2216 of 14 April 2015 that established a targeted arms embargo against the group. Identifying Iran in Council products on Yemen, however, has been a longstanding red line for Russia. The draft resolution in blue reiterates the need for all member states to adhere to their obligations, including the arms embargo on the Houthis; condemns the provision of arms and related material of all types to the Houthis in violation of resolution 2216; and calls for additional practical cooperation to prevent the Houthis from acquiring material necessary for further attacks. An explicit reference to Iran is not included, however. The text recalls indirectly that the Yemen Panel of Experts latest report, dated 2 November 2023, noted large-scale violations of the arms embargo. (The most recent Panel of Experts report is among several panel reports which since 2018 have regularly reported on the Houthis’ use of arms of Iranian origin or of interdictions of arms that appear to have come from Iran.)
To address China’s concerns related to a paragraph on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the draft resolution was revised to state that the UNCLOS sets out the legal framework applicable to activities in the oceans, including countering illicit activities at sea. This is instead of stating that the UNCLOS sets out the legal framework applicable to “all” activities in the oceans. Language in Council products on the UNCLOS has proven contentious for China in recent years, presumably stemming from its claims in the South China Sea. Ultimately, the co-penholders settled on language from an August 2021 presidential statement on maritime security.
He is right.Among other points, the draft resolution in blue requests the Secretary-General to provide, through 1 July 2024, written monthly reports to the Security Council on any further Houthi attacks on merchant and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. In addition to informing future Council discussions on the issue, another apparent aim of such reports is to separate Council discussions on the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea from developments in Yemen, including its peace process, which has been a concern of the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen and Council members.
Any condemnation or resolution issued by the Security Council against Yemen because it is struggling to stop the crimes of genocide to please its perpetrators, in addition to its previous failure to issue a resolution obligating Israel to stop its crimes, will lead to the waste of what remains of its legitimacy as an organization supporting global security and peace, and will confirm the validity of our view of the necessity reforming the international system to take into account the needs of the oppressed.
We affirm once again that our military operations against Israel will not stop unless it stops the crimes of genocide in Gaza and allows food and medicine to enter its residents, regardless of any resolution or statement issued by the Security Council today.
I did a search on Laurel700 (whom I am following) and it came up with no problem. Does that mean it is fixed now, or is this a problem for certain countries or people via AI algorithms?I too was unable to find Laurel700 in a Search, nor did I see anything in my feed. I had to go to my profile page and click on Following and scroll down the list. And that’s what I’ll do until this garbage gets sorted.
Seems to be working again I’m in the US, but it definitely didn’t come up yesterday, even though I’ve been subscribed to her channel the entire time. And I guess it's becoming more and more visible each day that they do not. Not Palestinian, and not their own.Do you really think anyone in Gaza uses civilians as "shields"? For this use of civilians to be effective requires that your opponent actually cares about civilians.

Here is a report from CNBC, but it isn't a american ship.I've just seen a GB news headline which says Iran has taken responsibility for hijacking the US tanker in Oman.
I'll do some more searching online as it seems a bit vague but if true you would expect a major escalation now. Buckle up!
