What really turned me off was all the hats being worn on the forehead instead of on the head as they should be. How dumb can you get?

Sure looks like a Egyptian Double Uraeus and Orb crown to me ...and I suspect she's wearing it over her third eye for a reason?

Re: Wedding coverage

There was a wedding? Hmmm. Why would anyone watch it? Who has time for anything more than: Do you? I do. Do you? I do? Then it's done. Kiss and go. :)

What I found curious was that it was mostly girls watching the ceremony in places I passed while going to work. Some of then seemed to want to be in the shoes of the princess. A girl who willingly abdicated of her right of crying in public, among other things.

That's not really surprising imo, considering the years of 'programming' girls go through wanting to be princesses. From Disney princess movies, to movies about royalty. 'The knight in shining armor' program could be very strong for a lot of girls. And of course girls are also pretty programed about weddings in general. Most girls play 'bride' as little girls, putting pillow cases on their heads pretending to have a wedding veil.

Also I wouldn't count out a lot of people's attraction to royalty/monarchy, etc.. coming from past life memories.

It's very true.

I am glad that it's over.

WOW some of those hats were outrageous! It's almost as if they sent out a "whoever wears the most bizarre hat wins grand prize" memo.

I think this one is my favorite pic though. That little girl does NOT look happy....it's almost like a symbol of the majority of UK's feelings about this wedding. What a telling picture

I think the jets were flying in formatioin overhead at that time. I remember as a little kid, I hated loud noises too.

Mmmmm, I don't know about that. I live in London, and it was surprising to me how many people actually got excited by the event. I know the Supermarkets did a roaring trade and Champagnes and Sparkiling wines almost sold out in a last minute rush. It was declared a Bank Holiday, and almost every one I spoke to had a "gathering" or attened one of some sort.

The sense I picked up was not one of national pride or Royalism. Infact there seemed to be as many foreigners as Brits around anyway, but it seemed to me to more the case, that people were behind William, because he is his mothers son, and she was immensley popular. It's as if they feel he has earned his happiness and they were glad for him.

It is also said that he has her looks, which seems to endear him futher.

I get the impression, that a great number of the population think the boys were "robbed" of their mother at an early age,
and therefore the young princes remain popular, and seem to be saving the Royal Familys image. However many people who comment about it appear to resent the Windsors for their hand in the whole Saga.

I suspect anything the boys do will create a favourable interest for a very long time, as for Charels and his mum and dad, I'm not so sure

It was interesting at work though , how many sudden Royalists popped up. (especially when we were looking for volounteers to go on the work rota! )

Mind you the wedding was just the side show, the main event was "the Bonkers hat competition"
It must have been a nightmare for the judges.

The hat thing reminds me of the way the "gangstas" wear their (baseball) hats in my city, tilted to the side or whatever. I asked one kid, "Vato, where you get hats that go to the side? I can only find the ones that go to the front." He replied, "No, no, you just get a regular lid and turn it like this." I thanked him politely for showing me.

There was a wedding?

Um, wasn't that a scene from The Wire? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY67XaX6oM8

I see, well the reason I stated that most people in UK were not happy about the Wedding is mostly due to some articles I've read online.

Here are some that were also on SOTT:

UK: Unfair Wedding Threatens Royals Future

Royal Wedding Bells Fall on Deaf Ears

The Royal Wedding: Who Pays the Bill?

My understanding came from the fact that most people were upset about how much money this was going to cost them as tax payers. And how much money people were going to lose closing up shop, for the Royal Wedding. Since the Mayor made that day, a national holiday and I can assume there would not be much tourists anywhere but London, so anyone with a business else where in UK would naturally take a large hit for the day.

I also assumed that it has a little to do with the class state in Britain. From my understanding there is a large class gap in UK- so the poorer people (who are the majority) were not impressed with this grand Wedding, where as others as you said didn't mind it, and joined in on the celebrations.

That does make sense Diana was a dear to many people, especially the British. And those boys were so young when she died...

That is interesting! I think it might be a bit of herd mentality though, like you join in on the 'fun' even though you could care less, just so others don't pick up on your unpatriotic feelings. Or that you just want the day off, for the hell of it-- even though you could care less why the day has become a holiday, you make yourself out to be a 'Royalist' in this case.

Many people do this in the US in the religious context. Meaning even though they are not religious, they pretend to go along just so they can get out of the daily grind.

OMG not even this forum is safe :(
I am afraid to open a can these days as the royal couple might spring from it.

Though I missed the whole thing I confess that I looked at some pictures after the fact. Most of them I found quite funny for one reason or another - like the girl covering her ears, the octopus hat, or the photo captions with very long royal titles! Generally speaking I find the royalty very amusing. I pity them a little too; they were born into a show and cannot escape it, and I'm pretty sure they are not told much about what really goes on on the planet. I also find it so strange that some people (like my late grandmother used to) think and talk of them as if their own family!

I dunno, I don't find them amusing at all.
There is something very sinister about English royals, I know Icke is most probably dis-info agent or just a nut case at best, but thanks to him I can easily imagine the queen as shape shifting blood thirsty reptoid :)
Her eyes are too cold, she gives me the creeps, the whole family does.
