I can get started tomorrow night. I don't know how to embed captions, however. Also, there is the odd word that I have problems hearing, so maybe it would a good idea to work with someone to help fill in the blanks.

Excellent, thanks! Don't worry about the embedding. Just post the text here and we'll take it from there.

Thanks Cassandra. :)

I am so glad I got to finally listen to this. I checked out the first part and still have to listen to Part 2. Laura, that must have been exciting to be able to speak to the people in Barcelona...:-) I turned the volume up and was able to hear it in entirety. Part 1 was very engaging, informative, and well done, in my opinion. Laura, as a speaker, is very conversational and down to earth, just as she is in her written " voice". If people feel comfortable with you, they're more apt to pay attention to you when you speak. Laura naturally gives off that "easygoing, comfortable" vibe, which others can sense and feel - and you don't even have to be in the same room with her. She exudes it in emails, in her books, on video and through her articles. Loved it, Laura. I wish I could have attended. Gonna check out Part 2!

I can do the first 10 minutes of part 1 right now, help get the ball rolling. Cassandra, have you started yet? And if so, can you post what time's you are able to do from, or doing, just so we don't have two people transcribing the same parts. :)

Having a bit of trouble with the sound as well. I have to listen to the talk at full volume with headphones on to hear properly.

Barcelona Conference: The Living System, Evolution, the Purpose of Life, and the Sixth Extinction Part 1

00:00 – 10:08

How many people here have actually read our books and websites? I’d like to see hands. Okay, hands down. How many people have not? Not too many.

Okay, so I feel like for those of you who haven’t, I need to give a little background information that probably everybody else will know, but for the sake of those people who don’t know, I think you will forgive me for doing a little bit of a recapitulation.

A lot of you, who are familiar with our website and our work, know we are living underneath a little bit of pressure right now because we have the French Police investigating us for the accusation of being a cult. I hope you all realize, that the people who read our websites and read our books are probably the last people who would be considered cult followers, because the main thing we encourage is for people to think for themselves and to investigate and of course (the scientific method?).

I’ve actually been accused of using my powers of hypnosis to mind control people. Just warning you, we have a Svengali here, and you have to be really careful here because I’m going to put you all in a trance (audience laughter).

Anyways, we made a trip up to Paris, to engage an attorney last week, and when we let him know what’s going on, took all of our documents and so forth, you could tell from his expression that he realized this was a serious concern. He did tell us there was a possibility that at any moment we could be raided, and they could confiscate all our computers, equipment, records, and so on and so forth.

They spent seven months investigating us already. Had gone through all of our bank records, tracking our cellphones, probably reading our emails, and, so far they haven’t found one single thing that suggests we are a cult. We live on a very limited budget. We do exactly what we say we do on our websites. There’s no hidden agenda. And even if the people in our group who have been interrogated say there is no hidden agenda, they get told “you would say that, because we know you’re hiding something!”

So how do you prove a (negative?)

At this point, we wake up early at home, about 5:00am and lay there, wait for the dogs to bark, or hear the helicopters overhead or something. And by the time 6:00am passes, because the attorney said that usually when they do these raids they start at 6:00am. So when 6:00am passes and it gets on to 7:00am, we figure we are safe for the day.

Four people have already been interrogated and these interrogations have been really rough. But what I want to tell you about, is the reason for this, is because there is an organization, several of them in fact, the main is called the MIVILUDES. And that stands for: (???). Anyhow, that’s an acronym. And, for 30 or 40 years they’ve been active. And what they are really all about is what Ark would describe as a closed system. There is some suggestion that the Catholic Church is involved, but I’m not sure if that’s exact.

They have a 2010 report where they have declared that such activities as: growing vegetables in your backyard without pesticides, using homeopathy, yoga, doing breathing exercises such as the one we have created are all cultish. Being on any kind of special diet other than what is promoted by the mainstream media, which is big agricultural companies, pharmaceutical companies. Using any kind of medicine which is other than what the pharmaceutical companies promote is cultic.

Let’s see, what else? Buying gold! If you buy gold as an investment, that means you are part of an end of the world cult. And in fact, this came up in one of the interrogations. If you go through my bank records, you would realize that I bought gold. And I buy gold in small amounts, but I started buying gold back in 1998, when I could get a one ounce gold coin for ($79 dollars?). It’s now worth a lot more than that. So I would say it was a damn good investment.

However, that’s end of the world, cult activity. Never mind that if the world is actually going to end, according to an apocalyptic cult, who the hell are you going to use the gold to buy anything from? What good is it going to be? Also, canning your own food, and storing food is considered to be a cultish activity. There’s been one case where a child was dying of cancer, his doctor told the parents that without chemo and radiation therapy, the child was going to die. And they opted to forego the chemo and radiation, so the child could at least die without being tortured and the child was taken away from them and they were designated a cult.

There was a doctor who developed an anti-cancer therapy, and it wasn’t necessarily like he was promoting it as a cure for cancer, but it could have certainly prolonged people’s lives and could have been a cure but was never allowed to be tested that far. The President of France, Francois Mitterrand, was using this therapy, and he had cancer and it prolonged his life and enabled him to finish his presidency.

This doctor, 79 year old, was raided by (17 or 70 Gendarmes), SWAT team, or whatever they call them, helicopters, dogs, the whole nine yards. The old man, his wife and his secretary were in the house. And when he went to the door to them in unless they broke the door down, they said “Sir, you are a cult!” You are a cult… Anybody could be cult.

So what’s behind this, beside it being a closed system? It’s really kind of hard to say. What does seem to be apparent is that this is something that is spreading throughout the EU. This group, MIVILUDES, had been condemned by the European Court on a number of occasions. Their response to this condemnation was that the European Court had been taken over by a cult. (audience laughter)
I kid you not.

Anybody who doesn’t believe the way they believe is a cult. That’s the first thing. Second thing is, they are financed, are funded by the State, by France. They have teams of instructors who go to Judges, Lawyers, Police Departments, Gendarmerie, the Military and so forth, and they lecture them on how to tell if somebody is a member of a cult.

Did you know that spending hours a day at your computer is cultic behaviour? You didn’t know that? How many of you spend more than 3-4 hours a day on your computer? (Show of hands) Uh-oh! You guys are in deep trouble.

So those are (?) things happening there, and they are spreading their influence throughout the European Union. It’s very similar in a way to the Dominionist Movement in the United States. How many of you know what the Dominionist Movement is? It’s with Sarah Palin and these Fundie (fundamentalist) Christians. People like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell (…?). Those kinds of people.

So that’s what’s going on, on our planet. Overall, an attempt to impose a closed system on humanity and we have been targeted. Now, the only reason I can think of why we, particularly, have been targeted, is because we go after our topic in a slightly different way. Not many UFO groups, or believers or channelers, whatever, that you know of, that have actually had their people interrogated or arrested, been hauled in, been defamed in the way I have been defamed for the past 10-15 years.

If you try to think of anyone who has endured what we have had to endure to try to bring together science and mysticism, there just isn’t anybody.

Edit - added in Seekintruth's changes.

The part I put in bold should be Francois Mitterand (not sure of the spelling).

The bold part should be Jerry Falwell (going by memory, as I listened to part 1 yesterday).

I also had trouble with the audio yesterday listening to part 1. I'm going to listen to Part 2 now and see if it's better.

I can only start tonight, because my daughter will be around during the day (last day of summer holidays), so I won't be able to give the transcription my full attention until then.
When would you all like it finished?

Thank you for posting Laura and the Château team on SotT, look forward to the recapitulation - awesome :)

Edit: Good grief, need better glasses and focus; total the wrong word used prior.

I was just writing the same.
Hope you can get it up again. I'm ready to start transcribing... I'll hang around until it's back, if any difficulties, I will do as much as I can tomorrow, but will be able to concentrate on the transcribing fully around this time.

Part 2 from 0 to 13:30

Laura Knight-Jadczyk Barcelona Conference - October 15, 2011
The Living System, Evolution, the Purpose of Life, and the Sixth Extinction Part 2
Environmental Changes and Species Extinction

Okay (laughter). Now the last thing we were talking about was the fact that this is kind of a paradox that every creature on the planet is imbued with the survival instinct. You know, survival and reproduce and care for their offspring. Except maybe alligators. And the paradoxical inevitability of death. The paradoxical inevitability of death is really quite an interesting thing because our society doesn't want to talk about death in that, you know, we don't tell ourselves through our media or in any other way, that the main thing that is going to happen to you in your life is that you are going to die. You are here you know you're just here as a passenger. You're going to die. So, it's a real paradox and as Schiller points out, there is no reason for our organism to not be immortal. I mean this little design, change here and there, and it would be entirely possible. And the thing is that we don't know for sure what is that in our DNA already. Because we are going to get into the DNA part here in a minute. So hang on.

Okay, so we've got here the survival instinct versus the inevitability of death. And then you notice another thing about the life system. Which is one of the design features is reproduction and no two organisms are identical. Now this is the result of sexual reproduction not asexual reproduction or, say, mitosis. In the early days of the Earth when life originally began to proliferate on the planet all reproduction was basically by cellular mitosis. You know, there was a cell split and every daughter organism was identical to the mother organism except maybe at some point one of them had a chance random mutation then it passed it on to each of the two daughter organisms.

But the unique thing about sexual reproduction is that when two organisms come together and produce an offspring the interesting thing that happens at the moment that the DNA is getting ready to combine and form a complete set for the child or the offspring is that it unzips and it comes apart in pieces and reassembles itself in a new order. And then matches up with the other parent and then you have a completely totally and unique individual. The only individuals on Earth that are exactly alike are identical twins.

So that's a design feature in sexual reproduction. Now, is this a design feature that was already in the DNA of the asexually reproducing individuals? You know, the early single celled organisms was something that was just there waiting to turn on? Say for example, for when there was enough oxygen in the atmosphere? I mean, was oxygen in the atmosphere a precondition for that particular DNA segment to kick in and say okay now we are going to start reproducing sexually? Which then created the vast explosion of different types of species? That is an interesting question.

So, anyhow, the design features. So, what you can conclude from that is, it seems important to the living system to have a large population of diverse organisms which can serve to create a large enough surviving and varied genetic pool that will occasionally produce novellas and important species survival attributes. Which will cover as much diverse biosphere geography as possible so that at least some living system organism and their offspring will survive both long term steady state slowly changing biosphere conditions and short term and possibly localized catastrophic events that regularly wreak havoc on the planet.
Remember the ad for renting the planet. You know, we've got this planet that's really a crappy place that changes a lot. And guess what? It gets hit by comets fairly frequently. It has earth quakes, you know, it does weird things, it explodes, the (plan? 5:40) and plague, you know, climatic changes. A living system can rent this rock really has to have some things on the ball. So this is what we are seeing in the designed system of the living system. Okay?
So. Why is the system designed as it is? The obvious answer seems to be the one thing that all members of the living system have in common, the DNA library which propagates life and more. Because it's obvious that the living system, and we saw this when we were looking at the graphs of all the different species that have come and gone, come and gone and how they proliferated all over the planet like mold on a cheese. That the obvious intent of the living system which we are just a very small part is to survive over enormous periods of time. Billions and billions of years. Now, and again why? To preserve DNA.
This is the prime function of the life system to gain in complexity over time so that an intelligent organism, such as Homo Sapiens and others evolve, because this is what a lot of people assume. That is was all just there just to evolve us because we are the greatest thing since sliced bread and flushed toilets alright (laughter). Or, it's the prime function to survive through time and humans are dispensable.

So it seems the goal of evolution, per se, is to buy time. Billions of years of it. Allowing the living system to carry out its design intent. Evolution is nothing more than a means to an end. One of the mechanisms responsible for the adaptive (casecility? 7:49) of the system.
Now, let's talk about species avenues versus biosphere attributes. A species attribute is anything that a group of individuals have in common that enable them to survive in a particular niche on the planet. For example, heat or cold tolerance. If you are in an environment and you have a range of temperatures that your organism can survive. If it gets hotter or colder, you're not going to survive. But if you are just exactly adapted to that particular range of temperatures, that is your species attribute. That I am able to tolerate these temperatures and that's me.

Okay, the biosphere attributes are what is in the biosphere. Okay, this particular environment gets this hot and this cold. And the objective of evolution is to ensure that the species attributes match the biosphere attributes. That is that if you are in an environment that has a range of temperatures that you will survive in that environment. If that environment changes, then you've got a problem. Except evolution has allowed that.
This is a graph of the heights of ten year old boys. You know, of a particular community. And what you will notice about this is that it forms a bell curve. Some of these little boys are pretty short, some are pretty tall. But most of them, the vast majority of them, you know, like right in here okay. Now, you can take a bell curve with species attributes because of sexual reproduction everybody has got some changes in them. They've got some different tolerances. You know like the, a husband that is married to a wife that can't stand cold. And, you know, he wants everything, you know he can tolerate the cold. You know he can just throw some covers off. So they are different in their heat tolerances. But I mean maybe not to the point of dying at the changes, but they're definitely different. And that's a small range of difference there.

So here in this particular example, you've got what is called species attribute A. You've got a population of organisms that are living in a pond. And one of their attributes is that they have to have a certain salinity of the pond, or a certain PH value. And we know each one of these attributes of the requirements of this species, this one celled organism, and any (number? 10:49). So this particular case, cold tolerance is species attribute A. This is their temperature tolerance. Okay, so the mean, most of the population falls into this bell curve. They can tolerate these temperatures. So this is the center of the population. So the highest percentage of the population can tolerate a temperature in the mean range of the possible temperatures of this environment. So you have a margin of safety here. Which means that the temperature never gets colder than this.

Okay. So what happens if all of a sudden, through climatic change, it starts getting really cold? Now, what do you think is going to happen? What's going to happen is when it gets cold, all the creatures that are, say this line moves here, that this line moves over, the temperature moves over. So this line represents the highest temperature, and this is the lowest temperature. The highest temperature moves over to here and lowest temperature moves over to here. What you have here is going to be the kill zone. All these people are going to die. One celled organisms, whatever they are. They're all going to die. Then what is going to happen is that all the ones that live, that continue to live, are going to reproduce and they are going to pass on the genes of being in this range of being able to survive that particular temperature. The ones who didn't survive are going to die. So, the point of this is that we don't evolve in response to change in our environment, but rather the living system has a plan. It has already within any population those who will survive the change. Does everybody really got that? It's not that something happens, it's not the outside is forcing evolution. It is because of sexual reproduction, evolution is prepared for these events that happen on our planet. It's prepared to take cold, and it is even prepared because it has spread species all around the planet to prepare for anything that comes for the express purpose of survival. The survival of the living system.
