I'm thinking the hard "c" sound present in the word "carrot" has something to do with it. "six" is the only number (0-9) with that sound in it. Repeating "six" over and over, that sound seems to stand out. It kind of catches you up a little bit and slows down the repeating. c-c-c-c-c-carrot!!! Just speculation.
