Not All Multivitamins Are Created Equally

Spent a couple of hours researching vitamins with a high nutritional value and no Magnesium Stearate. Found this brand (Super-Nutrition) of Multi-Vitamins that look promising and wanted to share and see if anybody has experience with this brand.

I am thinking about ordering this one (within 60 days) and was interested in any feedback. I realise these are tablets but they say they "promote rapid disintegration" or I could simply crush them first in my mortar and pestle.

For example, in the daily dose of 6 tablets you get 600 mg of Calcium, 1000 IU of Vitamin D3 and 600 mg of Magnesium for bone health. There's also 400 IU of Vitamin E, 1000 mcg of Folic Acid and 250 mcg of Selenium for heart health, plus a full 1250 mg of Vitamin C and 250 mcg of Chromium. These same 6 tablets provide higher potencies of Beta Carotene, the B-Complex plus a variety of greenfood and phyto-antioxidant rich men's herbs.

Scientifically proven potencies and food-based tablets: the best of both worlds!

So much more!
Only SuperNutrition gives you multi-vitamins in scientifically proven potencies with generous amounts of greenfoods and herbs. Our multi-vitamins are so complete they reduce the need to buy additional vitamins and minerals or to take extra tablets.

Enriched with organic greenfoods & herbs
Our family of blends is enriched with organic greenfoods and herbs* - Note that not all greenfoods and herbs are available as organic.

The greenfoods and herbs in SuperNutrition's Blend family of multi-vitamins contain phyto-nutrients and phyto-antioxidants to complement our orthomolecular balance of vitamins and minerals. They also serve to promote rapid disintegration. Also, not entirely sure about "coating contains citrus and vanilla flavoring" being natrual citrus and vanilla bean.

Hi James Henry,

I very much like the SuperNutrition brand. Have used them off and on for a number of years (alternating with Pure Essesnce Labs and Garden of Life)

No need to grind them up, unless you really want to, but they are well absorbed. Just keep in mind that the product you listed above is a 6-a-day. That means taking 2 with each of 3 meals, in order to get the amounts listed there.

Not sure where you live, but in the U.S. you should be able to pick those up at a natural vitamin store, rather then ordering on line and paying shipping.

Thank you Auranimal for your feedback, its good to know someone here has had a positive experience with this brand.

Yeah I did notice it was a 6 tablet dose but this should not be an issue for me since I already take multiple supplements at various times during the day. But it is an important fact to realize to make sure you are getting the full nutritional value.

I have checked multiple stores locally without any luck, but will continue to keep my eyes open.

Thanks again.

I've bought most of my supplements from Life Extension Foundation for a long time. Now it is time for my annual order I read more deeply and find soy listed in Life Extension mix. Should have known. LEF still trumpets the virtues of soy though they have had a few recent articles on the dangers of wheat.

I spoke with Thorne about discounts for quantity. Apparently one of their main business is to sell to health practitioners offices. Thus no retail discount. But Amazon offers their products at good discounts.

The SuperNutrition product might be available here in town. At least one of the stores is listed as a dealer.

Just shows I need to keep challenging my assumptions, all of them. We are never in greater danger than we think we "know".

Is there any consensus here about which multivitamin to take? Some recommendations from european users?

Supersmart.com and Pure Encapsulations seem to have good ones, the one from Supersmart contains much higher doses so it may be cheaper in the end.

If finances are tight, is it worth taking a cheap A-Z multilvitamin (Like sanatogen brand) or none at all? Which choice is better?

I don't think that one is good. On their website it doesn't tell much of extra ingredients. It does say it contains soy. You want to make sure the forms of the vitamins are easily absorbed in the body (magnesium mostly). And you also want to know if it is gluten, dairy, corn, soy, etc. free.

Just checked the side of the bottle, loads of E numbers, and it even contains talc, which i believe can cause cancer.
Got some Centrum aswell, and thats full of E numbers.
Im thinking its best not to bother, but my diet isnt vaired enough atm, so it might be a risk.
Bah, i hate not knowing what to do for the best.
Looked at a decent one ('Now foods' do one) and it works out at about £25 a month.

I'd opt for 'none at all.' Things I have been reading have been pointing to lots of issues and little if any benefit with the cheap stuff and some of the expensive stuff. At the very least do without while doing your own research.

I agree, and if you are on a Paleo/Primal diet the need for a multi-vitamin decreases.
