Seems like NATO doesn't even need a NATO country to just show up and make "stabilize" the situation.
It amounts to increased occupation by US/EU/NATO in Europe .....

I would imagine, that proposed "increased occupation" calls for an "Israeli Citizen" as the next Ukraine President?

Israeli Citizen announces bid for Ukrainian Presidency
_http://www.redressonline.com/2014/03/israeli-citizen-announces-bid-for-ukrainian-presidency/

The Israeli news website Ynet reports that Vadim Rabinovich, a Ukrainian Jewish oligarch who holds an Israeli passport and has lived in the apartheid state of Israel, has announced that he will run for Ukrainian president.

He is one of four people to announce their presidential bid for the elections scheduled for 25 May.

Rabinovich heads the All-Ukrainian Jewish Congress and is the founder of the European Jewish Parliament.

Announcing his bid on 25 March, Rabinovich said he is motivated by the need to prove that Ukraine is not anti-Semitic.

“I want to destroy the myth of anti-Semitic Ukraine that is replicated today throughout the world,” he said, adding: “I think I’m the perfect candidate, especially in these difficult times.”

It’s hard to predict how Rabinovich will fare in the presidential poll. But there’s a reasonable chance that if he performs badly, then he’ll do an about face and blame his failure on anti-Semitism and maybe go even further by joining the ongoing Israeli campaign to import Ukrainian Jews into the occupied Palestinian territories.

If, on the other hand, he succeeds, then Ukraine will join the club of Israel lickspittle states, such as the Czech Republic, Micronesia and Fiji.

And to futher dominate and control Ukraine citizens:
Ukraine to hike domestic gas prices by 50 percent to meet IMF demands
_http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/26/us-ukraine-crisis-gas-idUSBREA2P17I20140326

(Reuters) - Ukraine is raising the price of gas for domestic consumers by more than 50 per cent from May 1 and will implement further rises under a fixed timetable until 2018, an official of state energy company Naftogaz said on Wednesday.

The step, which will be widely unpopular with ordinary Ukrainians who have grown used to subsidised gas prices from the Soviet era, were taken in response to demands by the International Monetary Fund.

The interim government of Arseny Yatseniuk is in the final stages of talks with the Fund to secure $15-20 billion in a new aid package.

How To Cripple the European Economy (along with Ukraine)
_http://rinf.com/alt-news/breaking-news/cripple-european-economy/

The EU sanctions against Russia would cripple the European economy instead, Euro MP Pino Arlacchi. “The position of the European Union should be different from the US position. Europe should not insist on the extension of sanctions. These sanctions are unwise. In fact, they are directed against us,” he said.

Arlacchi believes that the European Union would not be pushing the sanctions further. “Europe has every reason to cooperate with the Russian Federation, there is no obstacle for this,” he said, adding that the US has a completely different position.

“The US wants to become a global government, and any country that does not agree with this, becomes their enemy. The relations between Russia and the US are likely to stay tensed,” the Euro MP said.

The Ukrainian crisis was provoked by the EU interference with the internal affairs of the country, Euro MP Pino Arlacchi said.

“The EU supported the rebellion in Ukraine, without taking into account that Ukraine is a complicated country,” he said. Most of Ukraine is pro-Russian and even speaks Russian language, Arlacchi noted.

“We have supported a mild revolution… But we did not take into account the presence of the fascist elements in the new government. Five ministers have ties with the neo-Nazi ideology in their biographies. Bashfully we avert our eyes from seeing what is happening,” the politician confessed.

The US President Barak Obama has decided to visit Amsterdam, Haag, Brussels, Vatican, Rome and the Saudi Arabia. During his visits, Obama is to discuss Ukrainian issue with the countries’ officials. The US has to fulfill its plan, aimed at separation of Ukraine from Russia. After the Crimea decided to integrate with Russia, the plan took a different option from what the US had primarily expected. Some experts think that Obama will “accidentally” come to Kiev in order to support the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian government.

There would be no Obama’s visits, if the US hadn’t failed to fulfill its “Ukrainian scenario”, European media says. There have been no EU-US conferences under the rule of President Obama. European countries became enraged after they found out that the US National Security Agency had used wiretapping against the EU officials. Obama refused to sign an agreement that would guarantee the disuse of such tools. If there was no conflict in Ukraine, Obama would face a numerous accusations from the part of the EU. The White House hopes that Ukrainian crisis, provoked with the help of the US, will help to overshadow Europeans’ discontent.

“If the Ukrainian crisis hadn’t occurred, President Obama would have held another type of conference with the EU,” Heather Conley, Head of European projects at the Washington Center for strategic and internationals studies, says. Ukrainian issue discussions are to “smooth things over in the EU-US relations, but they won’t help to abandon the problems”.

The fact that Russia doesn’t impose reciprocal sanctions means that Russian government acts wisely as this step couldn’t ameliorate the international relations. It might also show that Russia regards sanctions seriously.”

Without considering Russian interests and concerns, there would be no Ukrainian crisis settlement, Vilen Ivanov says. The US is better to listen to Brenton’s opinion, because the US rarely listens to such statements from the country’s most devoted partner in Europe.

Swiss decide against Russian sanctions
_http://www.thelocal.ch/20140326/swiss-decide-against-imposing-russian-sanctions

The Swiss federal government on Wednesday decided not to impose sanctions against Russia for its seizure of Crimea, claiming it wanted to find a "balance" between international law and Switzerland's interests.

•IOC awaits Putin's reply to Lausanne invitation (20 Mar 14)
•Bern suspends free trade talks with Russia (19 Mar 14)
•Khodorkovsky applies to become Swiss resident (10 Mar 14)
"The position of our country is independent of the UN," Swiss president Didier Burkhalter told a press conference in Bern, saying Switzerland can only use sanctions when they are based upon "international law and the interests of the Swiss".

"And in this case the rights and the interests play a role... we need to find a balance," he added, as well as noting that Russian interests in Switzerland were "very large".

"The federal council has noted the sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United States," he added.

Burkhalter said some sanctions imposed by the EU would apply to Switzerland, including a ban on the freedom of movement of some Russian nationals as Switzerland is a member of the Schengen group of European countries, which allow passport-free movement between them.

Despite the decision not to impose sanctions, Burkhalter, who is also the country's foreign minister, said Switzerland would not allow itself to be used by those trying to get round the restrictions already imposed on Russia by the West.

However, this year marks the 200th anniversary of relations between Switzerland and Russia and as part of the celebrations Burkhalter is supposed to visit Russia.

The majority of Russian gas and petrol is traded in Geneva, and Switzerland is an increasingly popular destination for Russia's wealthy.

Russia to create national payment system to rival Visa, Mastercard
_http://voiceofrussia.com/2014_03_26/Russia-to-create-national-payment-system-to-rival-Visa-Mastercard-4555/

While at the moment Visa and Mastercard effectively dominate the markets in Russia (over 85 percent of all card transactions are being carried out via them), the services they provide are hardly unique. Twelve years ago, several Chinese banks, backed by the People’s Bank of China, launched their own payment system called UniPAY. And the cards from the Japanese Credit Bureau (JCB) are being issued in 20 countries, numbering almost 9 million in total. In fact, the current situation in Russia did not escape JCB’s notice, as company considers expanding into this previously untouched market. The Russian banking system establishing closer ties with either of these two companies would probably not sit well with Visa and Mastercard, not to mention the fact that a potential alliance of any nature between Russia and China is something of a nightmare for many US politicians and interest groups.

Back in 2010 Sberbank deployed its own payment system, named PRO100, as part of Russia’s Universal Electronic Card (UEC) program. While PRO100 is based on international banking standards and can be deployed on the same infrastructure, all payments made through it are processed in centers located in Russia. And even though very few Russian banks have been connected to PRO100, their number may increase soon thanks to these latest political developments. “I believe that we need to create a national payment system, the kind that exists in many other countries,” Sberbank CEO German Gref said. “As for national processing and hosting, the PRO100 system based on the Universal Electronic Card is one of the options being considered.” He also added that after a few legislation changes, it would only take about six months to implement the system.

Putin brings in Steven Seagal to sell revival of nationwide Stalin-era fitness program
_http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/03/13/putin-brings-in-steven-seagal-to-sell-revival-of-nationwide-stalin-era-fitness-program/

MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin called Wednesday for the revival of a Soviet-era physical evaluation program that required all schoolchildren to pass fitness tests. To do so, he made an appearance with American action movie star Steven Seagal.

Putin, a judo enthusiast and a regular swimmer, said that the restoration of GTO, the Russian acronym for Ready for Labor and Defense, would teach children “to stand up for themselves, their family and, in the final run, the Fatherland.”

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko told a government meeting chaired by Putin that his agency would work to introduce the physical training standards nationwide by 2016.

Putin said that Russia needs to pay more attention to physical training because it lags behind other countries. He said that Russian children now are in “significantly worse” physical shape compared to a few decades ago.

Steven Seagal is Face of New Putin-Backed Fitness Program in Russia
_http://www.newsmax.com/TheWire/steven-seagal-vladimir-putin/2014/03/27/id/562085/

Russian President and judo enthusiast Vladimir Putin is relaunching a Soviet-era fitness regimen in order to make his citizens more fit and fierce like Steven Seagal, the U.S. action star who's the unofficial spokesman and supporter of the program.

Putin first announced the program last year and framed it as a way to "pay homage to our national and historical traditions." He also invited Seagal to Moscow to tour a newly built sports complex and help promote the program to the country's youth.

The original plan was to have the program up and running by 2016, but it appears that deadline has been bumped up, thanks to leftover funds from the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi last month.

"The Olympics and Paralympics have demonstrated that we are again becoming one of the leaders in global sports," Putin said after his country's first-place finish with 33 gold medals. "We’re discussing what is necessary to . . . attract the vast majority of our citizens to take part in regular physical training."

There is apparently a new leaked phone call with Yulia Tymoshenko. (It is authentic she admitted it herself on twitter)

Quite a bombshell...

In her first sentence she is referring to Putin:

Tymoshenko said:
"I'm ready to grab a machine gun and shoot that m*********er in the head."

Another quote from Tymoshenko in this phone call:

Tymoshenko said:
“This is really beyond all boundaries. It’s about time we grab our guns and kill go kill those damn Russians together with their leader,”

Her statements are just :jawdrop:

You can literally see her true colours...

Looking forward to the next leaks

Sound like this 'lady' knows that she is being listened to, because she put on quite a show with her 'patriotism' for her future voters. It looks to me, like after being freed from prison, she realised that the country is run by the radicals, she saw that her old methods are not working, so her only chance is to make radical statements well adjusted to the radical mood of the population. I know this woman to be very cunning and sly person, so she could used the recent Nuland/EU telephone conversation leaks as a model for her pre-election promo or whatever where she presents herself as an angry protective lioness of her country, with a clear plan to apply to the international court and she doesn't mis the chance to mention that if she would have been in power all this time, she would never have let any of this happen. Recently i saw her speaking in Shuster TV show almost the same strong statements. She said that she would create some sort of her own military force. She is kind of person that would do anything if she see that the power is slipping away of her hands.

Now Ukraine says 100,000 Russian troops near border, as found on Yahoo News:
Washington (AFP) - Nearly 100,000 Russian forces have massed on Ukraine's border, a top Ukrainian defense official told an American audience Thursday, giving a number far higher than US military estimates.
"Almost 100,000 soldiers are stationed on the borders of Ukraine and in the direction ... of Kharkiv, Donetsk, " Andriy Parubiy, chairman of Ukraine's national security council, said via a webcast from Kiev.

"Russian troops are not in Crimea only, they are along all Ukrainian borders. They're in the south, they're in the east and in the north," Parubiy said.

After its intervention in the Crimean peninsula, Russia is plotting to foment separatist sentiment elsewhere and Kiev fears a possible incursion in the country's east, he told the Atlantic Council, a Washington think tank.

Parubiy said any day "we might see a huge attack on the territory of continental Ukraine and we are getting ready for it."

Although US defense officials have put the number of Russian troops closer to 20,000, a US lawmaker said Thursday that much stronger Russian forces had deployed towards Ukraine's border.

"Over the past week we've seen the buildup of up to 80,000 additional Russian troops," Representative Mike Turner said in a statement.

Turner said the force included large numbers of armored vehicles, battle tanks, artillery, helicopters and planes.

The Republican lawmaker accused the White House of witholding "critical" information about the full scope of Russian troop movements and demanded the adminstration reveal what it knows to help "vulnerable allies."

Pentagon officials previously have said more than 20,000 Russian troops -- including airborne units and armored vehicles -- have deployed along Ukraine's border, a force big enough to seize control of the eastern region.

But a senior defense official expressed skepticism at Parubiy's estimate of Russian troop strength.

"That sounds too high," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

Russia has assured Washington that the Russian forces were there to carry out a "spring" exercise but the Pentagon on Thursday acknowledged there was no indication of any drill underway.

"We've seen no specific indications that exercises are taking place," spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby told reporters.

He declined to discuss US intelligence assessments on the possibility of a Russian attack into eastern Ukraine but said the military presence only served to aggravate tensions.

Kirby said that "regardless of the intent it does nothing to de-escalate the tension in Ukraine.

"It does nothing to improve the stability in that part of the world."

Parubiy said the Ukrainian government supported moves by Western countries to impose punitive sanctions on Russia and appealed for a public display of military partnership to send a signal to Moscow over its actions.

"We are calling on our partners to hold a common military exercise" that would "show that the cooperation and partnership is still there," he said through an interpreter.

He urged "visible support, visible presence of our partners" at this moment of crisis.

The Russian troops that have deployed in Crimea were well-trained special forces, he said.

After Russia's takeover of Crimea, Moscow had launched a new strategy aimed at disrupting Ukraine's upcoming presidential elections in May, according to Parubiy.

Kiev authorities had "arrested" separatist leaders in the east and Moscow's attempts to provoke street demonstrations were faltering with fewer people turning out for the protests, he said.

US President Barack Obama and NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen have both denounced Moscow's incursion into Crimea but have called for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

NATO has bolstered its presence in Eastern Europe since Russia's intervention, deploying radar surveillance aircraft to the area while Washington has sent F-16 fighter jets to Poland.

Obama has ruled out military action in Ukraine, which is not a member of the NATO alliance.

Despite the General Assembly’s approval of the non-binding resolution 11 votes against and 58 abstentions in the process showed that Russia is not isolated.

And now they consider banning Right Sector:
_http://rt.com/news/right-sector-muzychko-ban-761/ said:
Following a siege of Kiev parliament building by the Right Sector nationalists, Ukraine’s security officials have discussed banning the movement during an urgent security meeting, a source in Batkivshchina party told Ria.

According to the source, the meeting was attended by the acting Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, National Security and Defense Council chief Andrey Parubiy, as well as Oleg Tyagnibok, the leader of nationalist Svoboda party.

During the meeting, Avakov suggested a complete ban of the organization given the radicalization of the Right Sector, the source said.

Parubiy was allegedly supportive of the idea of dismantling the neo-Nazi movement and said such a move would allow those present at the meeting to whitewash themselves of having any connections to the radicals, the source said. Tyagnibok reportedly did not take any sides.

According to the source, the proposal will be further discussed on Friday “within a wider circle.”

Meanwhile on Friday, Verkhovna Rada is also expected to hold an emergency session to discuss the possibility of Avakov’s resignation, after hundreds of Ukrainian nationalists gathered outside the parliament building threatening to storm it unless Avakov takes personal responsibility for the killing of one of their leaders and resigns.

The right-wing militant leader Muzychko, also known as Sashko Bilyi, was killed in a police raid against his gang in Rovno, western Ukraine.

Ukraine: UN condemns Crimea vote as IMF and US back loans

The UN General Assembly has approved a resolution describing the Moscow-backed referendum that led to Russia’s annexation of Crimea as illegal.

It comes after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to a loan deal with Ukraine worth $14-18bn. The US Congress also passed legislation on Thursday backing a $1bn loan guarantee for Ukraine.

Tensions are high between Russia and the West after pro-Russian troops annexed Ukraine’s southern peninsula.

The West has widely condemned the move, with US President Barack Obama warning on Wednesday of “deeper” EU and US sanctions against Russia if it carried out further incursions in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko earlier announced she planned to run for president of Ukraine in the elections expected to take place on 25 May.

Ms Tymoshenko, who has already served twice as prime minister and ran for president in 2010, said she would stand as “a candidate for Ukrainian unity”.

She was released after serving three years in jail on corruption charges, following the ousting of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in February.

Mr Obama said on Thursday that the US hoped Russia would “walk through the door of diplomacy” and resolve the issue in a peaceful way.

He said: “And Kosovo only left Serbia after a referendum was organized not outside the boundaries of international law, but in careful cooperation with the United Nations and with Kosovo’s neighbors. None of that even came close to happening in Crimea.”

“I honestly don’t know what President Obama is talking about,” Serbian historian Nebojsa Malic told RT. “There was never such a referendum. It never took place. It did not exist. I am completely baffled.”

Meanwhile, on Twitter Obama’s faux-pas also did not pass unnoticed. People accused the US President of “lying about the referendum”.

Belarusian president: Crimea is de-facto part of Russia

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has stated that his country accepts that Crimea is now de-facto a part of Russia. “We agree with the Russian Federation on that,” the leader said.

Lukashenko stressed that no one has asked Belarus to recognize or not to recognize Crimea as the federal subject of Russia.

“Crimea isn’t an independent state. It’s part of the Russian territory. One can recognize or not recognize that, it will change nothing,” Lukashenko told journalists in Minsk on Sunday.

“I am asked where my country is in this situation. Taking into account historical processes, in the framework of the CIS, we’re linked with agreements, and we’ll be with [on the side of] the Russian Federation,” the Belarus president added.

However, he stressed that Belarus isn’t against NATO.

“If the question arises, we’ll be with Russia forever,” Lukashenko said.

On the other hand, Lukashenko “as a person, not as a politician” is of the opinion that Ukraine should “remain an integral, indivisible, non-aligned state.”

Speaking on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Lukashenko said, “Would you like it if a state’s sovereignty is breached? But who pushed towards that? When Russia saw how the Russian, Slavic world was being stifled, the country interfered immediately.”

Finally, he pointed out that if Ukraine is determined to join NATO, “evidently, Belarusian reaction to that will be harsh.”

Belarus will build a relationship with the new Ukrainian government after it is elected, Lukashenko also stated.

“Whoever is elected by the Ukrainian people, we’ll support them. They are our neighbors, not some strangers to us,” the Belarusian leader said.

He added that Belarus can’t scrap its partnership with Ukraine, as their combined turnover of goods was 7 billion dollars last year.

The Belarusian president thinks that statements about quitting the CIS by the coup-appointed Ukrainian politicians are shortsighted.

“I think that those who influence Ukrainian politics won’t make such a step. Why slam the door?”

He said he will propose discussing the issue with Ukrainian politicians. The exit of Ukraine from the CIS would be a heavy blow – “but not a deadly one,” Lukashenko further noted.

Belarus, a close Russia ally, criticises Putin’s Crimea grab
By Jan Cienski in Warsaw

Russia’s annexation of Crimea has provoked unease among one of its closest allies, with Alexander Lukashenko, the authoritarian president of Belarus, warning on Sunday that the step “sets a bad precedent”.

Mr Lukashenko went on to say that, “Ukraine should stay a united, undivided, nonaligned state.”

Events in Ukraine have created enormous problems for Belarus, dubbed “Europe’s last true dictatorship” by US officials. Mr Lukashenko has been in power since 1994, remaining in office by supplying his 9.5m people with political and economic stability mixed with repression for those daring to challenge his rule.

The sight of protesters taking to the streets of Kiev and removing their president in February was one that Mr Lukashenko said “disgusted and repelled” him. “It is not OK when the legitimate government is deposed this way and a new government is installed,” he said.

But Belarus has been unsettled by Russia’s declaration that it has the right to intervene in neighbouring countries to protect Russian minorities. About 11 per cent of Belarus’ population are ethnic Russians, and 70 per cent of the population are primarily Russian speakers.

That declaration – delivered by Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, as a justification for seizing Crimea – has stirred fears that other nearby regions, such as Moldova, could also be vulnerable.

Like Ukraine, Belarus gave up its nuclear weapons inherited after the fall of the Soviet Union in return for Britain, the US and Russia guaranteeing its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“I would say to the west that Crimea is not dangerous because it has become a part of Russia, what is important is the precedent,” said Mr Lukashenko.

The Belarusian president responded with force when several thousand protesters marched through Minsk to protest flawed presidential elections in December 2010. Seven rival presidential candidates and hundreds of demonstrators were arrested, prompting the EU and US to levy sanctions against key regime supporters.

Cut off from the EU, Belarus turned to Russia, which rescued the country with emergency loans in 2011 and now dominates the Belarusian economy. Together with Kazakhstan, Belarus has committed to join an economic union with Russia. That same union tempted Ukraine’s ousted president Viktor Yanukovich from spurning an association agreement with the EU, setting off the revolt that unseated him.
Belarus has also turned to Russia for military help, asking for the deployment of military aircraft after Nato increased its air presence in Poland and the Baltic states following Russia’s invasion of Crimea.

Mr Lukashenko said he had been in touch with Mr Putin to reassure him: “There is no reason to worry; Belarus will always be with the Russian Federation.”

But Mr Lukashenko has also been carefully unenthusiastic about Russia’s annexation of Crimea. “Crimea today is a part of Russia, and recognising or not recognising that fact changes nothing,” he said.

He also appeared cool towards the Russian proposal that Ukraine be turned into a federal state – one of Moscow’s controversial proposals for ending the conflict with its neighbour. The scheme is popular in southern and eastern Ukraine, populated largely by Russians and Russian speakers who want less control from Kiev.

“A federation is a piano on which forces from the one side or the other side will play, including those from outside,” the Belarusian leader said. “That will permanently destabilise the situation."
