Here is a management consulting group site (West leaning) that tracks the oil and gas side of things in Syria for their clients and what the military is doing - who is controlling what with some day to day news posts. They also seem to have, from time to time, data or analysis not presented on the MSN. Included a pretty good map of things from their site for reference.

Added (timed out for the above):

Forgot about the news on Aramco's IPO that MBS and his backers are pushing and closing. From 2017 Aramco was discussed on SoTT looking to go public in 2018 - which was moved ahead.

The significance of this move across the spectrum (if one considers as the Americans (and Israelis) seem to do, at least on the geopolitical surface - oil and control buffering the Petrodollar), this is all happening at the same times as the tightening up on the Syrian Northern Oil and Gas fields. A wedge has been inserted. The Saudis (Aramco) produces 10% of the worlds oil on a daily bases and its going public - and the charter that it carries as a public corporation will no doubt have influencing ramifications globally. I'm not sure of the implications yet.

France, Israel wanted a 'terrorist state' in Syria: Turkey

Turkey has accused France and Israel of seeking to establish “a terrorist state” within Syria where they are reportedly assisting Kurdish separatists in the Arab country's north.

"They wanted to establish a terror state there," Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Friday. "And this was spearheaded by France and Israel, I speak very clearly. This is the reason behind the breaking out."

France has said it is imposing an immediate halt to arms exports to Turkey over Ankara’s operations in northern Syria, while Israel is considering sending arms to Kurdish militants.

France's parliament on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution, reiterating "unwavering support" for the Kurds who are the target of of Turkish attacks in northern Syria.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Thursday summoned the French ambassador and condemned the resolution.

“It is obvious that France took this decision after its plan to establish a terrorist state in Syria failed," the ministry said.

Last month, Turkish troops launched a cross-border offensive into northeastern Syria in a declared attempt to clear YPG Kurdish militants from border areas and establish a “safe zone” there.

Ankara views the US-backed YPG as a terrorist organization tied to the homegrown Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has been seeking an autonomous Kurdish region in Turkey since 1984.

The YPG constitutes the backbone of the SDF, an anti-Damascus alliance of predominantly Kurdish militants who maintains close ties with the United States as well. [...]

I remember reading on Orlov's blog a few years back about a strategy that the imperial powers use when they are about to get booted out from a country that they have been exploting, he called it "Poison all the wells", and I think this is not too far off when it comes to latest US actions in Syria. Here's how he decribes it:

Much more specifically, their playbook always called for a certain strategem to be executed whenever their plans to dominate and exploit any given country finally fail. On their way out, they do what they can to compromise and weaken the entity they leave behind, by inflicting a permanently oozing and festering political wound. “Poison all the wells” is the last thing on their pre-departure checklist.

• When the British got tossed out of their American Colonies, they did all they could, using a combination of import preferences and British “soft power,” to bolster the plantation economy of the American South, helping set it up as a sort of anti-United States, and the eventual result was the American Civil War.

• When the British got tossed out of Ireland, they set up Belfast as a sort of anti-Ireland, with much blood shed as a result.

• When the British got tossed out of the Middle East, they set up the State of Israel, then the US made it into its own protectorate, and it has been poisoning regional politics ever since. (Thanks to Kristina for pointing this out in the comments.)

• When the British got tossed out of India, they set up Pakistan, as a sort of anti-India, precipitating a nasty hot war, followed by a frozen conflict over Kashmir.

• When the US lost China to the Communists, they evacuated the Nationalists to Taiwan, and set it up as a sort of anti-China, and even gave it China's seat at the United Nations.

The goal is always the same: if they can't have the run of the place, they make sure that nobody else can either, by setting up a conflict scenario that nobody there can ever hope to resolve. And so if you see Anglo-imperialists going out of their way and spending lots of money to poison the political well somewhere in the world, you can be sure that they are on their way out. Simply put, they don't spend lots of money to set up intractable problems for themselves to solve—it's always done for the benefit of others.
