Russia Begins Operations in Syria: End Game for the US Empire?

This video clip makes one a bit curious! Well, perhaps it's just more of the theatrics, or what...?
That certainly seems strange, but I guess only because of the insanity of Haley's rhetoric. At the end of the day, people do connect at a basic human level I guess - I think it's worth considering that these UN ambassadors are basically a community, they know each other, spend time with each other etc., so you begin chit-chatting and becoming friendly with each other.

Reminds me of what Jordan Peterson said about his interview with Cathy Newman - that she was really nice before and after the cameras went on. He said she completely changed during the interview, putting on a persona - he called in "animus possession" in Jungian terms. Maybe that's what's happening to people like Haley and Newman - they built their careers on some sort of ideological possession, putting on a persona that completely removes them from reality. And yet, they can be totally nice, normal human beings in other situations. They might even have learned that this serves them well - that way, they can catch others off-guard by completely changing the tune. Interesting.

Yes. Besides, I'm starting to understand that sometimes we (or maybe just me :-/) can try to read too much into these people's actions and get to the point of overthinking trying to figure out what they're doing and why are they doing it. Like what Windmill Knight said about people putting all sorts of theories (3D chess) into Trump's actions when in the end it might be just pure silliness (don't know if that's a word), impulsiveness and pride. The problem is that a tweet like that brought so many people to actually fear a major conflict.

I still find it amazing that we're actually having diplomacy by Twitter, as the Russians called it. And also can't wrap my head around the idea that a world leader who's choices can affect so many people would actually be so silly and make such a fail. But it's good to keep that perspective in mind.

So, regarding Nikki and the Russian Ambassador, it can be that they're just that friendly when they're not doing their job of standing and speaking for their countries in the council (they're diplomats after all, it's wouldn't be surprising if they are prone to be friendly). Or... since this happened after the tense night when everybody was talking about WW3, it can also be that they were told to do just that in front of the cameras as some sort of reconciliation message. I have no idea, but I suppose we can only guess about so many things from where we stand and when things develop so quickly.

This video clip makes one a bit curious! Well, perhaps it's just more of the theatrics, or what...?

Again, Initiative is from Russians. Russia has been taking the initiative of not-escalating it for a long time - notably since Ukraine crisis. In American structure, elected leaders are mouthpieces of Establisment. Trump couldn't become independent either.

Maybe we can see now, in this video, that politicians, diplomats, etc, are comedians? They play in front of us a drama, sometimes a comedy, or tragedy. Some comedians are better than others, some are truly real good comedians, managing the Art of acting very well. But, even if they shake hands, even if they take coffee together behind the stage, there are victims and sufferance and wars and chaos. They are part of a very dangerous game.

I didn't think the video was that strange. Like Yas said, they're diplomats after all. Businessmen tend to behave similarly. They can be sharks in their dealings, but they will greet you warmly and with a firm-hand shake. In fact, I'd say that the normal thing is to expect that they behave this way. Anyone showing how they really feel about each other would probably be considered unprofessional or rude.

I would say - at this stage - "the sh$t just hit the fan"! The Russian Defense Ministry, in a Press briefing, has just accused UK/London stating, Russia has evidence of UK's direct involvement in organizing the filming and mock-up chemical weapons attack in Douma. This evidence will probably blow the Skripal Case wide open and the reason behind the expulsion of Russian Diplomats?

We Have Evidence of UK's Role in Staging Douma Provocation - Russian MoD

An apparent false flag chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma on April 7 has served as a pretext for the United States to threaten the Middle Eastern country with a missile strike; Russia has been calling for a transparent investigation while local doctors have said no one has asked for medical treatment for poisoning.

The Russian Defense Ministry holds a press briefing on what the Western narrative describes as an alleged chemical attack in Syria's Eastern Ghouta.

No evidence has been presented to support the claim. A Russian chemical corps commission that has been sent to Douma reported that no traces of chemical poisoning were found. On April 12, US Defense Secretary acknowledged the Pentagon had no evidence of chlorine or sarin use in Douma.

Speaking at the briefing, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the ministry has enough evidence that the planned provocation with the use of chemical weapons was carried out in Syria's Douma on April 7.

He added that the United States and Western countries continue their "indiscriminate and unfounded accusations" against the legitimate Syrian government over the alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians in Eastern Ghouta.

However almost a week on, the United States and some European countries have failed to provide any evidence, according to him.

"The Russian Defense Ministry has plenty of evidence that on April 7, a planned provocation was carried out in Douma with the aim of misleading the world community. The provocation's real purpose today is clear to everyone — to prod the United States to launch missile strikes against Syria," Konashenkov stressed.

He said that also, the Russian Defense Ministry has evidence of the UK's direct involvement in organizing this provocation.

According to him, the Russian Defense Ministry found those who took part in filming the mock-up chemical weapons attack in Douma. Those participants briefed the ministry on details of the filming.
"Right now, the Russian Defense Ministry has other evidence indicating Britain's direct participation in organizing this provocation in Eastern Ghouta," Konashenkov noted.

He added that between April 3 and April 6, London put pressure on representatives of the so-called White Helmets group in order to facilitate the implementation of the provocation.

Separately, he said that the Russian Reconciliation Center along with Syrian authorities are wrapping up a large-scale humanitarian operation in the Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta.

"A total of 170,152 people were evacuated from the area, including 63,117 militants and members of their families," Konashenkov said.

All the settlements of Eastern Ghouta are currently under control of Syria's government forces. The Russian military police were deployed to the area to monitor the situation and maintain law, according to him.

"With the situation in this Damascus suburb showing signs of stabilization, civilians return to their homes. To date, their number stands at about 63,000. In other words, more than half of those residents who were earlier evacuated have returned home," Konashenkov stressed.

Militants Were Ordered to Attack in Syria After Possible US Strike - Moscow

Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya noted that the US is apparently playing out a military scenario in Syria, which can have grave consequences for the global security, taking into consideration the fact that Russian military forces are present in the country.

Moscow has information that militants were ordered to launch an offensive in Syria after Washington's possible military action in the country, according to the envoy. He added that terrorists would benefit from feasible attack on Syrian government troops.

"We continue to observe dangerous preparations for an illegal military action against a sovereign state in breach of international law. Not only the use of force, but also a threat to use it violates the UN Charter," Nebenzya said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

According to him, Washington is enacting a military scenario in Syria, which can have grave consequences for global security. Nebenzya went on saying that Washington will have to pay for such a scenario as well as for previous interventions.

The Russian envoy has called on the US and its allies to reconsider their decisions on Syria, stressing that Moscow is ready to engage in cooperation.

According to the ambassador, the recent events in Iraq and Libya demonstrate that the US partners have a purely consumer-oriented attitude towards the Security Council.

"They need the Council as a cover for Iraqi test tubes," Nebenzya said, referring to the 2003 US-led Iraqi intervention prompted by the unfounded allegations that Baghdad was in posession of chemical weapons.

"You show us the same virtual empty test tube now. Irresponsible US behavior that violates international law and the sovereignty of states is unworthy of a permanent member of the UN Security Council," the envoy added.

UK Parties Urge May to Discuss London's Possible Military Action in Syria

Numerous UK parties have urged Prime Minister Theresa May to not make decisions on the country's possible military action in Syria in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma without first holding parliamentary consultations.

Reports about the alleged attack in the Syrian town of Douma emerged on Saturday. The European Union and the United States have rushed to blame the Syrian government forces for the incident, but Damascus has refuted the allegations. US President Donald Trump, French leader Emmanuel Macron and May agreed on Tuesday that the international community needed to respond to the alleged chemical weapons attack.

Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of UK opposition Labour party, has repeatedly called for engaging parliament in the discussion on potential UK military action in Syria. He stressed that military intervention in Syria might further escalate "an already devastating conflict."

"It is vital that parliament has the chance to debate and decide in advance on any government proposals to support a new US-led military intervention in Syria, which risks a dangerous escalation of the conflict," Corbyn said on Twitter on Thursday.

Ian Blackford, the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) group in the House of Commons, explained that parliamentary debates on the issue needed to happen because "an ill-considered rush to military action" could deteriorate the situation in Syria.

Our Parliament must have to opportunity to debate and to vote on this most important matter. Proper scrutiny and democratic principles must be applied. The House of Commons must be recalled as a matter of urgency… A solution must be found to bring this war to an end. A rash, closed-door decision for military action is not the answer," Blackford said in a statement, published on his Twitter.

Leanne Wood, the leader of Plaid Cymru-Party of Wales, noted that London must not partake in any military campaign "at any cost" without approval from parliament.

"The UK must not at any cost participate in military action of any kind without parliamentary consent. This should be reflected within the international community through securing UN backing for any intervention," Wood wrote on his Twitter page.

Vince Cable, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, also stressed the need for a discussion on the matter in parliament.

Cabinet agreement on #SyriaCrisis not sufficient for action. #Parliament must consider evidence, objectives and vote. Can be recalled tomorrow or over the weekend. Very unwise to press ahead without mandate," Cable posted on Twitter.

Moscow has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged attack to be conducted before conclusions are made. Earlier on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow had irrefutable evidence that the alleged chemical attack in Douma was staged with the involvement of foreign security services.

May Ready to Allow UK Participation in Airstrikes in Syria - Reports

Despite the fact that the alleged chemical attack in Syria's Douma, blamed on Damascus, still lacks any reliable evidence, Theresa May is reportedly ready to take action to prevent another one.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May "looks ready" to join military actions in Syria currently being mulled by the US and coalition forces without the approval of the country's parliament, BBC reported, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to sources, May considers it necessary to act urgently, explaining that the Assad's government was guilty of what she described as an "abhorrent crime". In addition, she does not want to delay the decision of US President Donald Trump and seeks to avoid the obstruction caused by the parliament's approval procedure.

Earlier in the day the leader of the UK Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, demanded to hold a parliamentary vote to green-light a potential military strike against Syria, the Sky News broadcaster reported. He called on May to "get every country including the US and Russia, as well as the neighboring states, around the table in Geneva to bring about a political solution."

The tough stance follows Tuesday's agreement reached by the UK prime minister, US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, stipulating that the international community should respond to the alleged chemical attack in Syria's town of Douma.

Trump Still Mulling Move, But Already Makes Harsh Statements on Twitter

US President Donald Trump has promised to make a decision on the actions against Syria in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons in the country by Wednesday.

Despite the lack of credible evidence on the issue and denial by the Syrian authorities, Trump tweeted a harsh remark on Wednesday, calling for Russia to "get ready" for "nice and new and smart" American missiles in Syria.

His social media storm comes in line with his April 9 statements, saying that he was mulling a "powerful" military response to the alleged chemical attack, blamed by Syrian opposition media outlets on the Syrian government without any actual proof.

The mentioned reports were published by several Syrian opposition media platforms, citing militants, on April 7. They claimed that Syrian government forces had used chemical weapons against civilians in the city of Douma in Eastern Ghouta. The story was immediately shared by the White Helmets, which started posting unverified footage of the aftermath of the alleged attack, with claims that up to 70 people had died of "widespread suffocation."

The United States and its allies were quick to blame the attack on Damascus, emphasizing that a "history" of using such weapons by the Syrian authorities was "not in dispute."

Russian Defense Ministry Releases Testimonies Of Doctors From Syria's Duma (Video)
13.04.2018 (Arabic Dialect / 3:31 لهجة عربية )
On April 13, the Ministry of Defense of Russia released a video showing testimonies of two doctors who were on duty at a Duma hospital when the alleged chemical attack took place in the Syrian town on April 7.

In the video, one of the two doctors “Kahlil al-Jaysh” said that the hospital received several civilians who had been injured in an airstrike of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) on Duma in the morning of April 8. Dr. al-Jaysh said that the airstrike had hit the last floor of a building causing fire. This led to the suffocation of some civilians who were trapped in the lower floors of the building.

While the doctors were treating the injured civilians, a man shouted in the hospital’s emergency room that the injures were caused by “a chemical attack,” which led to chaos, according to Dr. al-Jaysh.

“While treating the people who were suffocated by smoke and dust, one of the people who was present said that the strike was a chemical attack, which led the people in the area [hospital] to deal with the cases as injuries caused by chemical weapons.” Dr. al-Jaysh said in the video released by the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

Moreover, the two doctors stressed in the video that there had been no symptoms proving a chemical weapons use. Both doctors were also able to prove their presence in the emergency room of Duma hospital during the incident via a video published a Syrian opposition news outlet.

Several experts suggested before that a carbon monoxide poisoning might be behind the deaths of the Duma attack victims. The Syrian Observatory from Human Rights (SOHR) even reported from day one that carbon monoxide poisoning had been behind the deaths of the civilians who were trapped in a basement from a long time after the airstrike.

Syrian pro-government sources noted that both doctors could have left Duma district under the evacuation agreement between the Damascus government and Jaysh al-Islam but they opted to stay. This makes the testimonies of these two doctors more credible

Syria to defend itself in case of West’s aggression, vows Syrian diplomat

A Syrian diplomat pledged that the country will respond if it is attacked by the US, UK and France
UNITED NATIONS:
Syria will defend itself if it is attacked by the United States, the United Kingdom and France, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari said at a UN Security Council meeting on Friday.

"These three countries - the United States, the United Kingdom and France - if they think they can attack us and infringe upon our sovereignty, we will have no other choice than to make use of Article 51 of the [UN] Charter which gives us the right to defend ourselves. It is not a threat, it is a pledge. We will not let anyone infringe upon our sovereignty," he stressed.

"The Syrian government has invited an OPCW fact-finding mission to come to Syria and visit the site of the alleged incident," he said. "We are ready to provide all necessary conditions for a transparent work of this mission. We expect this team to begin work within hours."

"This invitation means that we believe in diplomatic skills and are not afraid [of investigation]," he noted. "At the same time, we strongly condemn the fact that three member countries of the UN Security Council are threatening to use force in violation of Article 1 of the United Nations Charter."

He cited the United States’ first President, George Washington, who once said that the voice of truth emanating from a nation that wants to live free is louder that the sound of gunshots. "We in Syria also have leaders like George Washington, outstanding personalities. They do the same - the defend their country’s unity and sovereignty," the Syrian diplomat stressed.

The United Nations Security Council met on Friday for an extraordinary session to discuss the situation in the Middle East amid the US’ threats of an airstrike on Syria following reports about alleged chemical attack in the city of Douma on April 7. The Russian diplomat stressed that there were no "reliable evidence" of any chemical attack. "Our specialists found no traces of the use of toxic agents.

Douma’s residents know nothing about the attack. All information about the alleged attack comes from anti-government forces that are interested in such development of the situation," Nebenzya said, adding that Russia has evidence indicating that "it was a provocation involving secret services of a number of countries."

Some non-governmental organizations, including White Helmets, claim that chemical weapons were used in Douma, Eastern Ghouta, on April 7. According to the statement uploaded to the organization’s website on April 8, chlorine bombs were dropped on the city to kill dozens and poison other local civilians who had to be brought to hospital.

The Russian Foreign Ministry dismissed that as fake news. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that White Helmets were an unreliable source, notorious for disseminating falsehoods. The Russian center for the reconciliation of conflicting parties on April 9 examined Douma to find no traces of chemical weapons. Nevertheless, the United States, the United Kingdom and France are threatening Syria with possible airstrikes.

No More Bombs: Protest in London Against Syria Escalation by Trump, May
19:27 13.04.2018 (updated 21:44 13.04.2018) Tweets and Pic's
On Friday, April 13 campaigners from the Stop the War Coalition (STWC) have staged a protest outside the residence of the UK Prime Minister Theresa May, urging her to refrain from joining in any US-led strikes in Syria.

The protesters presented a letter signed by a number of politicians, celebrities, academics and trade unionists saying that "further military intervention, as proposed by Trump, May, or Macron, is not the solution."

According to STWC campaigners, foreign military intervention, including by the UK, has only deepened and prolonged the Syrian conflict.

On April 12, Theresa May held discussions with her cabinet, where it was agreed it was vital "the use of chemical weapons did not go unchallenged." The British PM also spoke to her counterpart in the US over the phone, agreeing the two countries would cooperate closely on an "international response" to the alleged use of chemical warfare in Syria's Douma.

The Syrian government has refuted the allegations by Western leaders and said it destroyed all of its chemical weapons, a claim confirmed by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The OPCW fact-finding mission will establish facts surrounding the alleged used of chemical weapons Douma. They are due to start work on April 14.

Even though the British PM is not legally obliged to get the parliament's permission to launch military action in Syria, the leader of the opposition Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, stressed the parliament should have the chance to debate and make its decision.

Unfortunately they have started to bomb Syria. God knows where we go from here as events could escalate quickly. USA, France and the UK in Unison.

A very sad moment for the world although the spokespeople and news anchors are stressing that all is been done to avoid civilian and foreign casualties.

Currently there’s no reports of losses or retaliation from the Syria and Russian side although they are known to have used there air defences. The reporters have stressed the s400’s haven’t been used. I suppose we’ll know more in the morning but from what I understand the inspectors were due in Tomorrow Duma.

Mattis started no further attacks have been planned. I don’t know where we go from here.

Shameless Characters!. Probably they want to fire them before the entire world sees the medical personnel's testimonials and knows it is fake.

Unlike last year's bombing of a deserted air base, this time it's on the capital of a country. The official offenders are the US, the UK, and France. Vanessa Bailey reports however that some of the missiles came from Israel as well.

It's sickening.

Vanessa Beeley and Sarah Abdallah, who usually reports accurately as well, were saying that several locations have been hit, including residential areas. I'm still trying to find more reports on the ground. As Vanessa says, it's all unconfirmed yet, except the strikes and that some were intercepted by the Syrian Army.

Added: I forgot to put the Russian Embassy in the US statement:

I saw May in action just now too. It's like peering into an alternate reality. Do you think she actually believes what she is saying? And then there was Joe Johnson with a wire on Question Time yesterday. I'm hopeless at discerning the depth of pathology in these people, so I wonder just how deluded they truly are.

I also wonder if we've reached a brink here. I wouldn't rule out something big kicking off during the Russian World Cup, it's only two months away. There's a pattern looking back on those years I think.

Here is the statement of the Ambassador of Russia to the USA Anatoly Antonov (on FaceBook):

The worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard.
A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.
All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris.
Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible.
The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.
