server Issues / Can't access SOTT

Now it stopped working again. I'm getting the Access denied message - no donation page or Asus login.

Seems to be working now.

No dice here. ASUS is still showing.

I was getting a SOTT donation page, but now it's ASUS again.

Anyone else going through SOTT withdrawals? Lol

I had the donation page briefly, (was optimistic at that point) then I got the ASUS, now I'm seeing a 502 error page.
If you're the owner of this website:
Contact your hosting provider letting them know your web server is not completing requests. An Error 522 means that the request was able to connect to your web server, but that the request didn't finish. The most likely cause is that something on your server is hogging resources.

When it comes to computer technology I'm lost, so on that bolded part... Que?

Ya the server company techs are still working on it. Turns out they didn't get the culprit yet.

MEANWHILE DO THIS:

- Clear all cookies in your browser, or minimally all cookies related to sott.net. This will prevent anyone from stealing login session credentials from your browser.

I dont know how to do this instruction, but will ask....Thanks :/
Miss you....SOTT Net

This link contains instruction on how to remove cookies for Firefox. This link contains instruction for Google Chrome.

Soooooo... the server company techs say 'We have disconnected the apparent hacker.'

One was supposedly dealt with yesterday, another ( or possibly the same one again? ) was supposedly disconnected today. Gee I can hardly wait for tomorrow and the weekend.

Anyway, if that Asus page doesn't crop up again in the short while I'll turn the site back on again.

Just so y'all know, this is pretty much a serious and concerted attack on Sott.net, not your average teenager doing it for "fun" to deface the page, someone has paid up front for server space one two occasions, most likely with a stolen credit card, to essentially redirect our IP address to nowhere and in that way 'disable' Sott.net. Might be some Israeli guy or some US govt. lover who doesn't like our editorial line.

Definitely not a rookie doing this harassment. Whoever is doing it knows more than the average person about TCP/IP networking quirks. I would not be surprised to see yet another attack crop up in the next day or two.

Welcome back Sott................ on line here. Hackers can take a hike.

The elegant simplicity of the attack is very suspicious. It's Macgyver-esque. Unfortunately, the success of the attack is more due to incompetent networking specialist who have not ensured that this particular hack is impossible. They have obviously not fixed the core problem, and secondly they have not taken the attack seriously, as they should be monitoring our service actively. With that being said, my main worry is that this is only the beginning, I would not be surprised if after this problem is taken care of, more brute force methods may be attempted.

And so it begins...

If we have a downtime news thread, can we redirect sott.net traffic to that thread? I guess that would put the forum server in the line of fire as well.

Maybe the activity on Facebook is drawing fire? Maybe it is effective?

We are seeing that the zionists will not stop and, somehow, we are all part of an information war on a planetary level.

Yes, also "so begins the participation of the People of Cassiopaea in the war for their own fate". Although, actually already began long ago to Laura and Ark and everyone in the Chateau.

Is it possible that we people of this Forum can help with hardware? Like set a Mirror Server in case the main one is down. In different city's and country's wouldn't be beneficial? I just wonder. I have here 3 PC which could work 24 Hours if needed.

Update all underlying software platforms powering SOTT and here asap (plus check configs)? (PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQLite, etc.)
