No dice here. ASUS is still showing.
I was getting a SOTT donation page, but now it's ASUS again.
Anyone else going through SOTT withdrawals? Lol

If you're the owner of this website:
Contact your hosting provider letting them know your web server is not completing requests. An Error 522 means that the request was able to connect to your web server, but that the request didn't finish. The most likely cause is that something on your server is hogging resources.

- Clear all cookies in your browser, or minimally all cookies related to sott.net. This will prevent anyone from stealing login session credentials from your browser.
I dont know how to do this instruction, but will ask....Thanks :/
Miss you....SOTT Net

One was supposedly dealt with yesterday, another ( or possibly the same one again? ) was supposedly disconnected today. Gee I can hardly wait for tomorrow and the weekend.
Anyway, if that Asus page doesn't crop up again in the short while I'll turn the site back on again.
Perceval said:Just so y'all know, this is pretty much a serious and concerted attack on Sott.net, not your average teenager doing it for "fun" to deface the page, someone has paid up front for server space one two occasions, most likely with a stolen credit card, to essentially redirect our IP address to nowhere and in that way 'disable' Sott.net. Might be some Israeli guy or some US govt. lover who doesn't like our editorial line.

Yes, also "so begins the participation of the People of Cassiopaea in the war for their own fate". Although, actually already began long ago to Laura and Ark and everyone in the Chateau.Atreides said:m said:Definitely not a rookie doing this harassment. The elegant simplicity of the attack is very suspicious. It's Macgyver-esque. Unfortunately, the success of the attack is more due to incompetent networking specialist who have not ensured that this particular hack is impossible. They have obviously not fixed the core problem, and secondly they have not taken the attack seriously, as they should be monitoring our service actively. With that being said, my main worry is that this is only the beginning, I would not be surprised if after this problem is taken care of, more brute force methods may be attempted.
And so it begins...
Update all underlying software platforms powering SOTT and here asap (plus check configs)? (PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQLite, etc.)Atreides said:With that being said, my main worry is that this is only the beginning, I would not be surprised if after this problem is taken care of, more brute force methods may be attempted.
