I think even though I'm really excited about the FOTCM, I've still been affected by the word 'cult' and my lack of confidence in myself to properly express and explain how this is not the same thing by a longshot. (Somehow I think I'll just end up doing a terrible job of explaining and will turn people off, or against the FOTCM) - Predators Mind.

You could tell those people ''Yea that's exactly what I thought at first, but then... [...] don't know though, but it's great being a part of it and I always have the freedom to leave'' or something like that hehe

Love the symbol as well, it has a nice and kind look to it. :)

I haven't sent in my application yet. I'm hesitant to tell my parents, in particular my mom. I was thinking of printing out the Statements of Principles to let them read (if they want to - which is probably 50/50 if they will) and if they have any questions or concerns to raise them with me, and then apply in a few days after I've given them ample time to read it and talk to me about it. It seems like the fairest way of going about it.

Is there a reason you have to tell them? I don't tell my family everything I'm doing or thinking about doing especially if I think they will have a bad reaction. I just hold back and if a time comes where it's appropriate to say something I do, otherwise I don't. It's external consideration, imo.

It's your business and your destiny after all. Wise as a serpent, gentle as a dove :cool2:

my 2 cents.

Well, I just turned 27 (Still live w/my parents). So I'm more than of majority age to make the decision of what religion I choose to be a part of. But I guess there's more to it than that, as far as deep-seated programs, particularly in regards to my family, specifically my mom. So in a sense I'm a bit fearful of letting them know about this, because if I just go ahead and do it, I think there's gonna be arguments and problems. But I think if I inform them ahead of time, that maybe it might not be so bad.

I understand that while living under your parents roof, you want to take their opinions and feelings into account -- that is just externally considerate. However, at the age of 27, you do have the ultimate responsibility for your beliefs and the right to choose what organizations you participate in, as long as they are legal. If you tell your parents about this and they have a hard time with it, then that is unfortunate, but it doesn't seem right to me that they dictate (if I understand you correctly) your decisions in this area, and if they believe they have a right to do so just because you live with them, then that is not right and its a problem.

I think Oxajil has the right idea above -- when approaching your parents, if you even need to do so at this stage (after all, you are essentially applying for a free membership to an online organization at this point -- Incognito raises a good point about this), then you can consider the various ways to discuss this with them that is most considerate in terms of their own views and belief system. You don't need to refer to it as a "church" necessarily, or you can emphasize the fact that belonging to the Fellowship gives you strategic enclosure about things like mandatory vaccinations if that might resonate with them, for example.

External consideration is very good, but abdicating your rights to voluntarily participate in your organization of choice just because they are your parents is not, in my opinion -- your entire family may need to come to terms with the fact that living together or not, you are a fully functional adult, and are not only allowed to make adult decisions but should do so as a means toward personal growth. Your parents may not like it, but that is their own issue to deal with, and you shouldn't need their permission. Hopefully, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Edit - I was so hesitant to answer to the question I contemplated ignoring it, or in a roundabout way not answering it. I definitely felt a shock, something I need to look into more deeply about myself. PS - Sorry for the hijack, this thread should be used for discussions in regards to the C's session, not personal and family issues.

Hi Daniel,

Maybe you'd like to talk about this in more detail over in The Swamp?

Okay, the OFFICIAL symbol is posted here: http://paleochristianity.org/ We are working on getting the site operational in the next few days. You'll notice that some of your suggestions have been incorporated along with my personal preferences. Since I'm the one gonna be looking at this thing day and night probably until I die, it's gonna be colors that make me happy!

Beautiful! I love the colours, the shape, the meaning. I dont' know what it is, but it gives me good feelings, like something that comes from the best place, you know, not just from around the corner... Just put it together with a crucifix. It's like putting Life together with Death... And congratulations also to rolyateel for his plaque and to Nickelbleu for his logo design for jewelry!

Hi guys, I couldn’t connect to the forum for a long time because of an annoying connection problem, and now I finally come back and find this outstanding post, all the interesting ideas that are emerging are very interesting and motivational, very good things are flowing very fast IMO. And, gosh guys! Great designs! Lots of creativity, the logo for the FOTCM it’s amazing, I loved all the variations and colors. :)

Beautifull, :) I like that you have change the ying yang simbol in the light side, putting above the white half.

I too like the 'final' logo, well done to ll involved, and thank you to you all.

And, as I said, many of the alternate ideas can be used since they are all related and derivative. In fact, we may collect them together and put them on the PC site so that people can download and use the ones they like the best. People can use the infinity symbol alone, in a circle, or yin-yang symbol, or the whole thing, or stylized as many of the great ideas in this thread have been. When you have so many to choose from, it's really hard to settle on one. But what I stuck with was: 1) had to be very close to the crop circle (6D input); 2) had to emphasize the infinity symbol (Ark's preference); 3) had to be colors that I like around me all the time (my personal input). Then, taking into account the various ideas of forum members, the thing was done by our gifted forum member!

I am thinking about all the places that the logo could appear, i for one would like a mug a T-shirt with the logo on.
I was looking for this for an hour the other day, couldn't find it. Excellent work! This is exactly the sort of symbol, that i think intellectuals, doctors, scientists, mathematicians wanna have on their desk, because it is clean, precise and has a noble and stern air around it.

[...] It may even be called something like The Metaphysical Church of
Science. This will be a rough birth initially, as it will be seen
as threatening in the extreme.

Even when keeping in mind the important aspects of a "warrior" such as: determination, discipline and "never looking back", I feel a little bit scared about this. Will my joining the FOCM somehow endanger my loved ones? Will they become a target as they don't have any shielding/knowledge of unconventional forms of attacks?

This is the only reason I'm still waiting with my application. Any thoughts on this?

I think there is still the possibility to be a FOTCM member without telling everyone around you that you are.

I may be wrong but do you think you and your family will be more protected if you don't join ?
It seems that the more people would join the more strength we can have together osit.

Edit : Of course it is a personal decision after all ;)

I agree. Together we stand…

Indeed. There's a Faith element involved in the decision, too.

Ask yourself these questions:

What have you protected them from so far?

What is it that you need to protect against for them (and you)?

Your actions are dependent on your perception of the situation.

Just wanted to say that I love the final version! :)
I really like the pendent ideas and rolyateel's plaque!! So much so sometime in the next few months I'll see if I can get some molds/templates together and see if I can use some clear casting polyester resin to make a real life replicas :cool2:
