Well done ametist! The only suggestion to add would be to get smaller very sharp scissors for your next project. The ones in the pic are actually for cutting hair. But if they got the job done, then great! :sewing:

Thanks Herondancer :) I don't think the scissors were even able to cut hair, but were the only pair around. The tobacco is still humid, but new solutions came to me after making this one.

Anyway, practice is what counts most! :knitting:

Have a little anecdote for ya!

I had been travelling Spain and Italy two weeks ago mainly by bus (boat also) and I contracted a wierd respiratory infection (could have been exacerbated by the heavy air conditioning in it combined with sweating).

First, my throat started to litteraly itch and I caughed constantly. It even itched more as I was inhailing because of the air passing through my throat.
Then, when I came home my nose even started dribbling and mucus apperead in my throat but not much. Anyways, one night the itchiness became too grave and I literally couldn't sleep because of the coughing it caused.

Then, I tried a throat spray for killing infections that even numbs the tissue a bit to ease with the infflamation. And in usual cases of cold and sore throat it helps instantly and quite effectively. This time though, nada! Didn't help one bit.

But then it came to me - smoke a cigar! I read an article where it was described that certain miners in nasty air conditions who smoked actually had less damage which indicated the protective effects of tobacco apon the lungs so it seemed like a logical thing to do.

Needless to say, already with the first inhalation the itchiness almost completely disapperead and I stoped coughing. Freakin epic' :cool2:

Wow that is pretty epic and will hugely sound conterintuitive to a doctor (I'm assumimg). I started smoking a few months ago and notice beneficial effects mentally andf for some reason it seems to help me if i have an upset stomach. Which usually only happens when I eat something I haven't prepared myself. Figures.

Do you have any suggestions for the UK?
We used to smoke Manitou green organic rolling tobacco,
but I can't seem to find it anywhere - also not online.

And, the prices... :scared:

Would be open to try something new, but preferably organic...

Can I just order from Europe or will they charge customs?
Also do you have any suggestions for paper and filters (used to OCB Hemp,
but that doesn't seem to exist here anywhere either ...)

Help much appreciated, thanks!

Pueblo, American Spirit, Manito, Yuma, and a few others are available in supermarkets and online from UK sellers.
e.g. _http://www.thebackyshop.co.uk/

You can also order tobacco much more cheaply from EU countries such as Germany, but I'm not sure of the legal situation there so I'll say no more for now.

There are also numerous sellers of whole leaf tobacco in England, which is very cheap, just a little different to smoking pre-packaged stuff.

Skins? There are loads available http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCB-Premium-rolling-booklets-MakBros/dp/B008ABU7WW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1374356893&sr=8-6&keywords=ocb+box
Roaches? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolling-Paper--Filter-Tips-Booklets/dp/B005DY1HD2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1374356990&sr=8-2&keywords=raw+tips
Filters? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400-Raw-Regular-Sized-Filter-Tips-100-Cotton-/151085393605?pt=UK_Collectables_Tobacciana_Smoking_LE&hash=item232d6426c5

Thanks for the advice.

The problem is to find organic tobacco (not only additive free). The site you indicated doesn't sell any, but at least it sells Pueblo which is if I remember from the same manufacturer as Manitou. So thanks!

Of course, Amazon :-[ Didn't think about it. No OCB organic hemp filters there either, though.

I live in a very rural (and conservative) area, tobacconist even tried to talk me out of the additive free cigarettes (in his opinion there is never any tobacco that is additive free).

I always wanted to look into the leaf tobacco, and the prices here will probably force me to do it.

For good whole leaf in the UK go to PureLeaf.co.uk.

It's not organic but the price and quality is probably the best you'll find there.

Drum have come out with an additive free blend, although I'm not sure if its organic. It's very reasonably priced for additive free at about 3.95 for a 12.5 gram. It's a lot moister than American Spirit and its strong and sweet with citrus hints. I recommend keeping it in your back pocket to get it nice and stringy.

Edit: a quick google search brought up this: http://www.e-tobaccos.com/buy-cigars/manitou-organic-bags-p-19212.html

I have problems to find YUMA in my region (Salamanca), no more distribution of this brand. They can not tell me why. If you live in Spain and smoke Yuma, are you able to buy it? I want to know if it is just in my region or in Spain in general?

Another question: can we buy cigarettes by Internet? If I can not find anymore Yuma, what can I smoke? Can I buy it by Internet? My tobacconist told me it is prohibited. I don't know.

Salamanca is a very beautiful region, loreta. I was able to buy Manitou and Pueblo tobacco for roll-your-own cigarettes in the city from a tobacco store. I don't know how far the city is from you, or whether you roll your own cigarettes though. And we also found some regular organic cigarettes called Maya from a city on the borders of Salamanca and Portugal, Fuentes de Onoro.

Hi Alama, yes, I can find Maya and Pueblo but not anymore Yuma, the best I think. I am not sure that Maya is a organic as Yuma. It seems to me that Maya has some products. But maybe I am wrong. Thanks Alama!

Heads-up that Kentucky Select Organic pipe tobacco (dual purpose) has been discontinued in the US and is now replaced by Kentucky Select Natural pipe tobacco.
Haven't tried the replacement.

I ordered 5 pounds of KS organic last year before I found a supply of whole leaf. If anyone wants some I could send some at cost plus shipping.
