Good luck with your new friend! I hope you will put a picture of him very soon...!

Congratulations April :wow:, Mr. Lightening is lucky to have you. Look forward to a photo too.

Here are a couple of photos of Lightening (the name he came with). They are from his adoption posting. My camera battery is recharging so I will have more later. I have asked him if he wants to keep his name or wants a a new one. He hasn't answered yet.

Look at that face! What a darling. :)

@Herr,

I checked with the shelter today and he has only had one DPP2 vaccine. The two labels were due to one being the live virus and the second being what it was mixed with.

I am hoping that he does not need a second one? His system is so overloaded now. Since March 31 when he was surrendered he has had Frontline doused on him, dewormed, heartwormed, Rabies vaccine, DPP2 vaccine, anethesia, other meds from neuter surgery, crappy Hill's Prescription Diet (WITH CORN IN IT ARRRGGGGH). I sure would like to avoid giving him another vaccine now (or ever) considering the toxic load on his system and his skin condition.

I just heard back from the vet that checked him out while he was at the humane society. This is what he said:

"April -

Congratulations on adopting Lightning. He is such a sweet guy!

In my opinion he needs the following:

1. X-rays of his pelvis and hips. He has a problem in his left hip that is painful and which
really limits his range of motion.
2. Your vet will decide whether to start him on an anti-fungal. I would recommend an
impression smear +/- a fungal culture before starting such a drug.

Thank you and take care -"

His face is even more cuter in person. It is darker than in the picture and he has cute muscled stocky legs with stubby little toes. He is a very nice Puggie.

Right on, love the picture, sounds like lightning will do very well. :)

Hi April,
I think he has probably had more vaccines in the past given that he is 6 years old. So I am with you on this one, forget about he vaccine for now.

Forget about x-ray and antifungals and save the veterinary bills for now, just give him lots of TLC and good natural food and see whether he improves.
Do not forget to add omega 3 source to his food and teaspoon of coconut oil to his food. You can also apply coconut oil on the affected place on the skin.

I am with you on this one, Herr. Great advice. I got his records from the vet and it appears he may have hip dysplasia. I won't do surgery just glucosamine and other supplements. He has a lot of Tramadol left over from his neuter. I am very leery of Rimadyl.
