It's not aol.com. That's the IM. It starts with the 'y'. Look in my profile.

I tried searching for Paris Combo's music, but couldn't find it.

Another one comes to mind: a music of Faithless, especially "Bombs" music, might be an ideal choice. The background in that music is really good.

Here's one interesting sound from the trailer of the movie Contact that sounds like a heartbeat (I think she thought it was the sound of a pulsar that Jodie put thru a speaker)

I like that sound. Also, with that "thumping" sound in the beginning of 'Jurassic Park' movie. You might add a "heartbeat" sound in addition with the rest of the music as a text pop up but doesn't have to be constant. Hope that make sense.

Edit:

Possible music:
PARIS COMBO - Les portes de l'ennui
clint mansell - lux aeterna
Faithless - Bombs
"Heartbeats" - from "Contact" movie
"Thumping" - from "Jurassic Park" movie

This song is about a trip; trip in a train of human exisence, sad and annoying, where everyone stronger preys on everyone else more faible and then is devoured by the next in feeling hyerarchy. So dance, dance, dance in this train of human suffering

PARIS COMBO Les portes de l'ennui

Paroles: Belle du Berry. Musique: David Lewis 1997 "Paris Combo"

On devient vraiment cynique

Alors on danse
Oui, on danse
Tous en cadence
On danse
Allez, danse!

TRANSLATION:

Mesdames et Messieurs, welcome to the train of trouble
The train which never derails from its de facto trails.

Everything begins with little things, everything is little
Little by little trouble grows.
But attention, you should not confounder an embryo of sympathy
With a lack of an appetite.

Small, small, this appetite of [voleuse – hungry?] magpie
And here the desire to live
to live to your desires
But they disguise themselves [for somebody else],
as soon a mood slips,
They envy neighbours, they become accomplices

And already, air is polluted
All nastiness comes just at the right moment
Even me, I shall kill for a chair
On which i hoisted myself as a divinity, that of vanity, [vile] ideas
They do not hesitate!

They cut the throat and they [étripe]
They become cynical
It is Hallali, oh, ace of spades
That they slick up the black,
the black aspic, aspic, the black aspic...

And when the cup is full,
they realize, finally,
That they are not there to be in a bloody mess with [their?] state
[consumed by] heaps, heaps, heaps of unimportant things

Then they dance
Yes, they dance
All in [cadence] They dance
Go, dance!

science tells us

According to Lobaczewski 0.6% of people are born with a genetic defect that causes them to be psychopaths. The 6% includes other personality disorders and "characteropathies". The estimate for psychopathy in the states is about 1.5%. Higher estimates are probably a result of using a personality inventory that can apply to other personality disorders besides "essential" psychopathy.

for ALL of human existence...
there have always been 6%
with this genetic defect.
This number of 0.6%/6% applied to Poland. It probably changes with time and place. It would be more accurate to say "forr all of human existence... this genetic defect has existed" or something like that.

I got some skilzz as well with sony vegas 7.0 so if you need any help count me in.

The only things that I could help with are my lousy hearing, my organizational skills, suggestions, and my eagle's eyes.

[For the introduction, the screen could have an animation of an EKG machine that shows the spike when you hear a heart beat. After several pulses, each spike morphs/animates into the text of the first three lines below as they appear. On the fourth line (and when the word 'psychopathy' appears) the spike falls flat and screen fades]

That's pretty bizarre that the movie is Contact, cause the effect of the opening credits with the beat and the signal lines is very similar to what I had in mind. Perhaps it was buried in my subconscious.

Great idea! I could definitely animate something of this sort using Flash.

It may also be interesting if those interested in producing the video just make it, and then one could be selected by the group. Or the best parts could be taken from each and put together to form a super-duper-Captain-Planet (old cartoon reference) vid. Another way could be that people could just work on certain sections (a specific script coinciding with markers in the timing of the music would have to be established).
This depends on many things. I see this working best as a collaborative effort of people with different skills.

For example, I can do Flash animation and coding quite well, but don't have much of a clue about movie creation and encoding software - I know noise is quite good at this, however. Sending someone with this expertise a collection of Flash video files for him/her to assemble into the final product is one way of doing this.

Perhaps a good way to plan this out would be to create a story board using PowerPoint slides? That way we can divide the project into sections, as needed, and have a preliminary look at how the final product might 'flow' from one section to another.

I can work on this when I get home from work this evening :)

I also like CarpeDiem's inquiry to see if there is any way to host all the clips to make for easier sharing. It could be possible with youtube (or something similar), but hopefully there's a better way to do it.
We could use youTube and googleVideo because it's free but the quality isn't too great. If this project becomes SOTT-related, however, perhaps we could host high-quality versions on the SOTT or pentagonstrike.co.uk sites? Just a thought.

i thought what about if instead of music of any sort we leave audience listen to oppressed people's voices, no music, no instruments at all, just people sing these songs when you are so much in pain you can't up with words, like interminable vowels flowing like rivers of pain and suffering. What Palestinians sing about? What Indians sing about?

As far as quotes are concerned, this article by Henry is an excellent source for material. In fact, I very much like the "environment of evil" theme that it presents.

I started working on the EKG part of the movie in Flash. No sound yet, but it ought to be easy to sync everything to a musical piece later. I should be able to post a "rough draft" perhaps later on today for all to comment on.

Edit: What I got done thus far of the EKG part of the movie has been uploaded - it can be seen by clicking here. I realize it may be a bit too fast towards the end, but that's easy to change. Comments/suggestions?

Also, I was wondering whether my "story board" idea was any good - what do you all think about that?

LOVE IT!!

great work, sHiZo963!
that's pretty much the professional look for the text i envisioned! i love the font, the blurryness, colors, etc. - i think you have been chosen to do the text animations - unless anyone objects? ;)

i'm gonna try to post an updated version of the script today or tomorrow, if i can find the time.
i have to address the factual errors hkoehli pointed out.
also, i'm not a big fan of using the words 'political ponerology' in the very beginning of the movie - nobody outside this site has a clue what that means, and we should make the video as accessible as possible.
IMHO 'science tells us' works just fine.

Wow. Very nice work, sHiZo963! that is really good. I don't hear any sounds, but I think I can also hear a heartbeat in that...slowly. You're right, it's a bit fast, but it's a start. Great work!

That's fantastic! The colors and movement of the words really gets and keeps your attention. They flow well with the EKG. Nice work.

Looks cool, looks "pro"!

Slightly bit too fast or too blurry - I mean blurs look cool, but they impact readability, when you keep the effect all the time. Maybe after initial blurring/blinking/moving you could stabilize and sharpen text ? Like, heh, you know - ta da da dam tam tam bum tam whooooooooooooo :D

And, by the way - I've been thinking about how I could contribute to this project. I ain't much help with video editing, but I would be VERY happy to create some illustrations/backgrounds. Some disturbing picture of a city/dark streets with exaggerated perspective/spooky lighting for example. Just a thought ;)

Does someone here have a server capacity of hosting short raw documentary video sequences so we could create a ponerology doc video 'pool' ...
I will volunteer the bandwidth. I have set up an ftp account at my web host. All that want to participate can email me off-forum to receive username/password or alternatively I can use the forum contact form and send it to you.
If you want I can host a domain where you can upload the video and stream it. Just let me know.

Best,
Dominique
