The Magnesium Miracle

Unfortunately, we don't have credit cards here, since the local banks don't issue them. So I cannot buy anything online, including books... That's why I don't have access to a lot of interesting books discussed here and have to be satisfyed just with what I can find online for free.

No access to PayPal which is connected to a bank account?

Geeze, what country is that? Can you make bank transfers to someone who could get things for you and send them by mail?

It is a very small one and one I had never heard of. For privacy, I won't blurt it out here on the open forum, but it was interesting to read about. It doesn't surprise me about the banks not issuing credit cards, but you should be able to open a pay pal account. OSIT.

Next week a friend of mine is going to Portugal, so I could ask her to buy it for me. Does anybody know where these products and magnesium oil are sold in Portugal: regular pharmacies, parapharmacies or health food stores? Also, where can xylitol be found in Portugal? I found stevia there, but I don't like its taste.

Don't know about Portugal, but you can find xylitol on the supermarket in Spain. It is erythriol, which is a "cousin" of xylitol, another sugar alcohol.

As for magnesium, it usually sells in European pharmacies. You can find Epsom salts on pharmacies (magnesium sulfate) so you can take baths with it. You also find magnesium chloride which has a more laxative effect, but it can still be pretty effective, especially when you are extremely magnesium deficient. Ideally you should get a non-laxative form though.

Best magnesium pharmaceutical form I've seen so far is magnesium lactate. It is prescribed for ADHD among other things and one of its brand is Magnesioboi. It might sell in Portugal and it definitely sells in Spain. It is from an evil pharmaceutical company, Merck, but it does work very effectively. It sells without prescription.

Thank you Psych for your advice! I remember that you've mentioned once that you prefer magnesium citrate, so where do you buy it? If you buy it online, could you please give me the link? (Maybe somebody will be able to order it for me.) I saw that in some products (especially, pills and capsules) there are nasty ingredients that I'd like to avoid.

As to a PayPal account, I've just tried to create one, but they (as everywhere) require a credit card info that I'm not able to provide, so my registration failed. In theory, I could try to open an account in another country, as some local people do. But unfortunately, I don't have money for this. Normally, when I need something really important (that is small in size and affordable financially to me) that is not available here, I try to ask some of my friends. But, of course, I cannot do it frequently by a number of reasons... As to EFT, the bank fees here it's another story (as in most African countries), so I prefer to avoid it when I can.

Wow, you must be living quite in a remote place! Reminds me of the acrobatics to get stuff to my family in the Middle East. Anyway, iherb.com ships to most countries in the world and at a very cheap price. 4 dollars to get a kg worth of supplements into Europe, at least into Spain. You can buy the magnesium citrate of your choice from there. My favorite is magnesium malate. The malic acid gives energy to cells and helps with fibromyalgia-like pains. Here is the link: http://www.iherb.com/

Merck's magnesioboi is really very good that if you never took supplemental magnesium before, you will notice the difference within a half an hour or so: you breathe better and feel more relaxed.

Psyche I´m reading about the kinds of magnesium but what I found out is magnesium chlorate it is ok to take those pills to fill out the requirements of magnesium?

Thank you Psych! I gonna try!

You're right, it's a really remote place, so everything is much more expensive than at "a big land" (but local salaries are miserable). For ex., pork bones (without any meat at all) cost ~3 euros/kg, with a bit of meat on bones ~5 euros/kg, pork chops ~8 euros/kg. This is meat from locally raised porks, as importation of pork meat is prohibited here.

Magnesium chloride is acceptable if you can't find anything else. Just mind the laxative effect ;)

Thank you Psyche for the information concerning Xylitol. I am unable to find it here in Spain but I did not know that under the name erythriol we can have the same stuff. Next week I will check. Xyliton impossible. And thanks also for the specification about magnesium lactate. I am taking Cloruro de magnesico in pills, I hate them.

You will find it at a big Eroski supermarket. Warning, it has a tad of stevia added, but it is mostly erythriol (sp?). It is pricey, but it lasts a lot.

That is not good! Try mg gluconate instead, it should be more friendly.

I bought a 25 kilo bag from a German webshop. The price was pretty reasonable (about 8 euros a kilo). I could only order 25 kilos, since they are not allowed to ship other products to European countries.
But maybe you could buy it together with others and share the costs?
Shipping costs were about 15 euros at the top of my head.
