The Way Forward?

So, if I understood correctly, you have land that you can't keep. And if you don't sell it, you won't be able to at some point in the next year.

I'd suggest to sell it, it's either that or you could get nothing, your choice.

So, your dad and grandmother said to you:

As hard as it is, and they must have had a good legal read on it to offer that advice, sometimes it is better to cut ones losses and try to reconsolidate.
Yes they do. And that is EXACTLY what I am trying to DO!
Not had even one offer yet. Not even from the speculators or opportunists.
I will contact all agents this week and ask them to try to get whatever offers they can.
I am going to the Foreign Residents Association meeting on Wednesday. It is convening again about the new property laws. I will out which (if any) agents are able to sell anything in these times.
There are many important things i have to do atm. But not easy with bronchial pneumonia and temperature fluctuations.

Why would you "strongly urge" people here to watch a video, the central point of which is that govts. in Europe have laws and are planning on passing laws that attempt to stop people leaving the country, when in fact, this claim is entirely false?
I already found online where there are articles about California and that Canada is considering this.

As mentioned earlier i appointed another top solicitor to work alongside my current solicitor on all my property court cases.
This is his whasapp message after our initial meeting and then his long discussion with my lawyer.

Hello dear Liz, on this beautiful Monday, I hope you're well. To summarize the main points discussed, I can say that, whether or not a sale occurs, it will primarily require either the sale/transfer of company shares or movement via a title deed transfer document that the company will sign. Given this, the legal proceedings and any existing injunctions within the Görgüns’ internal case constitute a legal obstacle, and it is essential that this legal impediment be removed or brought to a level that permits a sale if one is to take place.
Furthermore, as I’ve mentioned before, you are the one to tell us the actual sale price, or rather, the realistic sale price under the current strained market conditions, and upon this, if a potential buyer/investor can be found, we can proceed accordingly. Although the situation doesn’t appear very promising under these conditions, please know that my efforts and best wishes are with you, dear Liz.
Regards.

It is a standard part of tax law in many countries for many years that there is a potential tax on moving out of a country and taking assets with you that you have recently made a profit on. It's nothing new or unusual and does not constitute govts. attempting to stop people from feeling their countries for 'safe havens' as the guy in this video, and you, are suggesting. It is therefore, disinformation.

Thanks. A relief. I expect the worst but hope for the best regarding everything now.
I will pass this on to the site as it needs to be corrected.

'Not owning anything legally in Cyprus'
All plots of land and the house, belonging to my mum and me, are all legally binded in the required immovable property trust that has to be formed for all foreigners owning more than one donum of land.
This is all above board, all permissions to purchase sought for and agreed/permitted by the Government, all taxes and legal requirement correctly completed.

So your ownership is based on some kind of a trustee agreement signed with an illegal entity operating on Cypriot soil and you call it legal; and you posted it on the 41st anniversary of the unilateral declaration of the self-proclaimed ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ no less. On the very day when multiple anti-occupation demonstrations were held in Cyprus.

Sell what ever you can, as soon as you can, get out, and don't look back!

That may be the best piece of advise you've ever gotten, and it even doesn't matter much whether it was given on moral, or practical grounds.

I had planned to benefit from a very early night as important responsibilities made me have to drive into town today, preventing me from needed recuperation.

Physically exhausted, nobody can reply for me, nor can they see my lawyer, or take my pets for their rabies/passport injections, etc. etc. tomorrow, either.

However, commitments apart, I will reply calmly, balanced, and in a heart-centred way.

I cannot thank you for your post, as the strong and directed energies, that came across, were emotionally angry, even vitriolized.

Was this your intention?

Holding the position of Administrator that saddens me, and I find it quite concerning.

The historical circumstances surrounding my move to Cyprus have been documented in detail earlier in my thread.

My political knowledge at the time was limited to voting or not, or how will the next budget affect me, this time!

When dad and I visited Cyprus in 2002 nobody could cross borders from either side. They were permanently closed. There were 2 sides to the island. Dad and I could not go North. Nor did we hear politics from the locals as we stayed together as a group only. Same for mum and I when we flew to the North. No politics proffered or discussed.

On loving the island and the friendliness of the locals, our sole concern was getting my son and I out of London asap!

Buying land for the project was secondary, but could also provide chaperoned work for my son. Neither of us could find work as this juncture. My sole priority was my son’s condition and mental health, and the medications given were making him worse.

Sadly, we lost him before we could escape together, and to whatever help I could have got for him here.

Meanwhile the lawyer had proceeded with everything we had instructed him to.

However, it was only later, once I started to research online, that I became aware of hatred towards the Turkish Cypriots from many of the Greek Cypriots. (Not all, by a long shot).

I immediately sent a fax to my lawyer asking for his explanation of the political situation.

I am more than happy to post the original copy of my fax and his reply to this thread. (it is dated).

He also pointed out that there are court cases seeking compensation on both sides. As both lost their lands/homes.

At that date/time (2004), he pointed out that compensation may/could become payable at a later date on Esdeger Title Deeds (ie non Turkish ones).

Forewarned, we were happy to pay any future compensation. We then decided that mum buy extra land that would be ‘inflation proof’ to whatever the valuations would be for the compensation. As well as help fund toward the project.

I don’t know any other house owners on the planet who have a ‘compensation plan’ in situ for those the land may ‘rightfully’ belong to?

Something that always concerned me though is:

How do Canadians, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, and South Americans etc feel about occupying and settling in the lands of the indigenous peoples? And the atrocities committed to them, to appropriate their countries?

How do they sleep at night?

What compensations were they given?

This is a absolutely identical scenario. Conveniently brushed under the carpet for some.

But researching Paraquay, my heart is with those indigenous natives of Paraguay – the 4% in poverty and those homeless, blind etc due to greedy mega ranchers, also illegally using fumigation aircraft and tons of Glyphosate and GMO crops. Killing their organic crops and their livelihoods.

If I can help even one, I will.

Indigenous peoples

There is no generally accepted definition of Indigenous peoples, although in the 21st century the focus has been on self-identification, cultural difference from other groups in a state, a special relationship with their traditional territory, and an experience of subjugation and discrimination under a dominant cultural model. So what is everybody else’s true living situation?

What are their morals about it?

Something else that occurs to me is why so many of the UK forces veterans and retirees chose North Cyprus as their home. Especially as they had all had active service during the Cypriot conflicts. I have a friend here (who I must now ask this to), who was a Colonel – Senior Intelligence Officer for the area, throughout the times. And I am sure is still active in an intelligence capacity.

He has ‘inside’ knowledge, other’s don’t. Witnessed first hand.

Yet, he has chosen to live here, long before I did.

Also very active British Legion here too, including many, many names connected with the Forces, listed i the Remembrance Cemetery here. Why would they not just be in the South?

I am sad about what happened on either ‘side’. As ultimately, they were both duped/used, one way or another. Not excluding external USA politicians and an ‘agenda’.

My ‘family’ have a good grasp on all the events in my life, especially here. Plus awareness of much of what I study, my son studying with me some of the time. Plus saying they sit with me watching the Spiritist mediumship studies and practice.

I relate this because prior to replying to Chu regarding my ‘environment’ question. I did not wish to leave one conscious stone unturned/unexamined.

...........

So, fully visceral of the last political attacks, (when in hindsight I had a combination of Covid Sars 2 Respiratory virus preventing me breathing and simultaneous Lyme flare up- due to the Covid).

I was genuinely and desperately asking for help/advice as my last port of help, because my body/mind had literally stopped being able to function properly! I did not have much ‘time’ left to act/do

‘Environment’ was mentioned. I was then bombarded with politics, make liposomal vitamin C. Everything became embroiled becoming just personal attacks. Then before I could get the instant advice I needed the thread was closed, at a crucial time.

All I can remember now is an ambulance speeding me to the (Covid) hospital 45 minutes away. And the siren noise.

A very scary experience, I will never forget.

...........

This may be a question for the C’s, however, due to the above episode I naturally wished to ask my ‘ family’ the burning question:

(Verbatim from my tape/transcripts)

Q: Am I incorrect regarding the true Turkish intervention of North Cyprus? And was the Forum correct? I believe that the Turkish had every right to do an intervention and not an invasion. What is the history here?

A: It is what you believe. Because you have been here before, you have got a good understanding of it all. That is what they are saying.

Q: But the Forum say that I am wrong.

A: Your family are saying you were right.

Is it just a coincidence, or why is it there is a repeated pattern, that I get attacked personally/politically both times I am seriously ill?

I am above feeling a victim, because I am purely doing what we have been advised to do, especially when a situation arises, – network!

Especially when the C’s have said ‘be kinder to each other’. And....

(L) Yeah. So, last question: if there's anything we should have asked that we need to ask, please give us the answer.

A: Love! You are doing well. Network!!! Goodbye.

Have you paid any of it? or was it just a willingness? Like, if Israelis said to the occupied West Bank or Golan Heights people "we're willing to pay" would that make it ok for them to continue to occupy?

This is a absolutely identical scenario. Conveniently brushed under the carpet for some.
Only 400 years later, which matters quite a lot, every South American in South America today was born in South America.

I think you're conflating two ideas that have something in common, but are actually quite different, the world back then was very different. But even so, if you were an American settler a few hundred years ago, would you do the same atrocities you allude to? because what you seem to be saying is that "since they did it once, I should be able to"

That's not an accurate or useful analogy, and I'm sure (or I hope) you know that already.

It sounds to me like you should rely on your "family" to tell you what you want to hear, because you've shown very little genuine willingness to take onboard the large amount of advice you have received here over the years.

In that respect, and on a more practical note, I don't think there's much anyone here can do to advise you on any actions you should take. After all, you're there, and have been there, for many years, you are embroiled in a legal battle about which we know little, and there are all sorts of other aspects about which we know even less.

So the best approach I think is for you to carry on with you plan as you and "your family" see fit, and not bother yourself with informing us about all of the details because, as I said, we really aren't in a position to provide useful advice, and the fact that you have not taken any advice given here over the years just speaks to that fact: that our advice is not well enough informed to be useful.

You can, if you wish, continue to update us on the main points and in a BRIEF format, but I think you should avoid presenting any further development in a way that assumes that we are in a position to offer any meaningful advice. To do otherwise would be to use this forum as an unproductive "dumping ground" that really serves no useful purpose.

I did not cause my current situation to occur. It is an 'external' event, beyond my control.

I beg to differ. As someone who has followed your threads for the past couple of years I see your current property-related predicament as entirely self-inflicted. Over the years it has repeatedly been pointed out to you that North Cyprus is not a good place to live due to its recent criminal history, and that your poor health has been one heck of a red flag telling you that where you are doesn't do you any favours. Alana summarised it very well in this post from 2019. Yet you chose to stay there.

While the new property regulations are beyond your control, by choosing to stay there despite multiple warnings you have effectively chosen your current situation.

If ever you decide to move to Paraguay, here is a group where you can find most of the information and/or help you will need to obtain your residency. There are a lot of expats who will be happy to help you; the expat community is quite welcoming.

Residency is easy enough to obtain when you work with the "right" people (there is a safe lawyer who helped a lot of the group members). Otherwise, it can stretch or be refused. Bureaucracy there is painful... Importing anything there is painful and costly.

Just make sure to read about Paraguay a lot before deciding, because although it has many positive sides, it's far from being perfect for expats. There are a lot of "not fun" stories. You can read them on the FB group. And the weather is extreme. The last couple of years, they've endured scorching heat in the summer and flash-cold freezes in the winter.

On another note, I know of a Paraguayan family who left the capital and moved to Columbia. They were saying it felt too crowded (too much growth in the capital Asuncion) and were looking for more rural and more bearable weather.

p.s. why is the Fb group preview showing in German on the forum? The page shows up in English in my browser.
