US Congressman Al Green said Wednesday in a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives that President Donald Trump must be impeached.
US Congressman Green Calls for Trump's Impeachment During House Session

"I rise today Mr. Speaker to call for the impeachment of the President of the United States of America for obstruction of justice," Green stated.
Green noted that Trump obstructed justice by firing Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey, who was conducting an investigation into alleged connections between the Trump campaign, Russia and the 2016 US election.
The US Congress should not hurry to impeach President Donald Trump before all the facts about his actions are known, House of Representatives Intelligence Committee ranking member Adam Schiff said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Justin Amash, a Republican, also raised the idea on Wednesday in an interview with The Hill newspaper.
"No one should rush to embrace the most extraordinary remedy… removing the president from office," Schiff told reporters. "I think we’re a long way from knowing the facts here."
Schiff spoke after congressional Democrats announced they had signed a discharge petition calling on Congress to establish an independent investigation into ties between Trump and Russia.
During the press conference, Schiff and other House Democrats said the bipartisan investigation into alleged ties between Trump and Russia has been blocked by the White House as well as some Republicans.
Lawmakers were reacting to recent reports in the Washington Post and New York Times that Trump had shared sensitive information with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and had asked former FBI Director James Comey to drop a probe into former national security advisor Mike Flynn.
Trump and his National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster have stated the media reports were false.
National Security Adviser Herbert Raymond McMaster is holding a press briefing. McMaster will speak about media reports that Trump allegedly passed secret info to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Leaks on Trump Sharing Info With Russia Put US Security at Risk - McMaster
https://sputniknews.com/us/201705161053669072-mcmaster-press-briefing/
McMaster commented on media report claming that President Donald Trump had allegedly shared classified information with Russian diplomats.
On Monday, the Washington Post reported that Trump told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak information about a terror threat involving laptops on airplanes. The information reportedly came from a US partner through an intelligence-sharing agreement.
He said that the claim is "completely false," adding that Trump discussed "wholly appropriate information" he thinks would advance national security with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"In the context of that discussion, what the president [Trump] discussed with the foreign minister [Lavrov] was wholly appropriate to that conversation and is consistent with the routine sharing of information between the president and any leaders with whom he is engaged," McMaster stated.
He said that the real threat is that there have been leaks concerning the work of the White House not shared with the public and it puts the US national security at risk.
"I think national security is put at risk by this leak and by leaks like this and you know there are a number of instances where this has occurred and I think it’s important to investigate these sort of things and to make sure that we have trusted organizations across our government that allows for the free sharing of information and collaboration," McMaster stated.
McMaster said that Trump's conversation with Russian diplomats had been aimed at encouraging coordination over Daesh. "Trump was emphasizing we have an area of cooperation with transnational terrorist organizations, ISIS [Daesh] in particular, an organization that already taken down Russian airliner," McMaster stated. "So this was the context of the conversation."
He said that the topic of discussion between Trump and Lavrov has been previously discussed with US allies. The issue concerned a threat to aviation, according to McMaster.
He said that Trump "did not compromise any sources of methods of gathering [classified] information."
"The president wasn't even aware of where this information came from," McMaster stated. "He wasn't briefed on the source and method of the information either."
"I stand by my statement that I made yesterday. What I am saying is really the premise of that article is false, that in any way the president had a conversation that was inappropriate or that resulted in any kind of lapse in national security," McMaster stated.
Foreign countries that share intelligence with the United States might pause doing so after US President Donald Trump reportedly revealed highly classified intelligence to Russian officials during a meeting in the Oval Office last week, former acting CIA Director Mike Morell said in an interview on Tuesday.
Allies May Stop Sharing Intel With US After Claims Trump Shared Secret Info

Foreign countries share intelligence with the United States regularly, and now they're going to take pause and question whether they should do that if they're afraid the information they're providing could be shared with an adversary of ours and theirs," Morell told CBS.
The US Senate Intelligence Committee requested additional information from former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey and Acting Director Andrew McCabe regarding the ongoing Russia probe, the panel's chairman Richard Burr announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, House Intelligence Committee ranking member Adam Schiff said that Former FBI Director James Comey will likely testify before the US Congress soon about the investigation into President Donald Trump’s alleged ties with Russia and conversations the two had.
"The Committee sent two additional letters seeking information related to the Committee's ongoing investigation," the statement said.
"The first was sent to former FBI Director James Comey seeking his appearance before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in both open and closed sessions."
The second letter was sent to McCabe requesting notes or a memorandum written by Comey with respect to his meeting with President Donald Trump in the White House, the statement added.
On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that Comey had written notes about a conversation with Trump where the president urged him to drop the FBI investigation into former national security advisor Mike Flynn’s alleged links to Russia and Turkey.
Other US lawmakers, including Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, have urged Comey to testify as soon as possible before various congressional committees.
Flynn resigned in February after media reports revealed he lied to Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak.
The Department of Justice should investigate whether US Attorney General Jeff Sessions violated his pledge to recuse himself from the Russia investigation by directly intervening in the termination of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey, eleven Democratic senators wrote in a letter on Wednesday.

https://sputniknews.com/us/201705171053708758-dems-sessions-probe-comey/
On March 2, Sessions publicly recused himself from any investigation related to the campaigns of both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
"His involvement seems to be a clear violation of his recusal, and can only be construed as an attempt to influence an ongoing investigation that threatens to examine his own role in the 2016 presidential campaign, as well other elements of President Trump’s campaign and administration," the letter said.
President Trump fired Comey last week based on recommendations from Sessions and his deputy Rod Rosenstein. The termination has drawn speculation since it occurred amid FBI’s investigation into allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 US election.
Senators Martin Heinrich, Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, Ron Wyden, Kirsten Gillibrand, Jack Reed, Tammy Duckworth, Ed Markey, Patty Murray, Tom Udall and Maria Cantwell signed the letter, which was spearheaded by Heinrich and Warren.
Russia has repeatedly denied any interference in the US political system and called the allegations absurd.
President Donald Trump's recent actions, such as the reported revealing of classified information to Russian officials and the termination of FBI Director James Comey, have damaged White House competence and credibility, US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated on Wednesday.

Schumer reiterated urgent calls for appointing a special prosecutor to "protect the integrity of investigation" into Russia's alleged meddling in the US election.
"The events of the last 2 weeks have shaken my confidence in this administration's competence and credibility," Schumer said on the Senate floor.
The senator also repeatedly called on President Trump to overturn any tapes or transcripts of his conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak to the US Congress to determine whether classified information was disclosed during the meeting.
There is no audio recording of the talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US President Donald Trump, but only a transcript, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said Wednesday.

On Monday, the Washington Post newspaper reported, citing officials, that Trump had revealed some highly classified information during a meeting with Lavrov and Russian ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was ready to provide the US Senate and Congress with a recording of talks between Lavrov and Trump, if Washington has such a desire.
"An audio recording was not carried out. A [written] record was made by a special person present at the negotiations," Ushakov told journalists answering the question in which format the Russian side could provide a recording of the conversation between Lavrov and Trump in case it was required.
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni following a meeting in Sochi on Wednesday and commented on Moscow's ties with Rome as well as allegations claiming that the US president provided Russia with secret information.
Putin: Claims Trump Gave Lavrov Secret Info Show 'Political Schizophrenia' in US
https://sputniknews.com/politics/201705171053690327-putin-gentiloni-press-conference/
Claims of Trump Giving Russia Secret Info - Putin said that Russia is ready to provide the US Congress with the transcript of the talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov if Washington considers it appropriate, when commenting on claims that the US president allegedly shared top secret information with Russia.
"If the US administration considers is appropriate, we are ready to provide the US Senate and Congress with the transcript of the talks between Lavrov and Trump."
He said that it seems that "political schizophrenia" is developing in the US amid such media claims.
Political schizophrenia is developing in the United States. I cannot explain differently the accusations against the current president claiming he revealed some secrets to Lavrov."
The situation in the US is being in turmoil under anti-Russian slogans, Putin said, adding that Trump is not being allowed to work properly. He added that Russia highly estimates the results of Lavrov's visit to the US which followed after his US counterpart Rex Tillerson's visit to Moscow.
He called accusations against Trump related to the talks with Lavrov nonsense, noting that "those who spread them are either stupid or dangerous" as they harm the United States.
"At first, when we followed the developing process of the internal political struggle [in the US], it looked ridiculous. Today it is not just sad, it causes concern because people who generate such nonsense can generate even bigger nonsense [in future]," Putin said.
However, Russia does not interfere in internal affairs of the US and doesn't intend to do so, Putin emphasized.
The comment came after the Washington Post reported that Trump told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak information about a terror threat involving laptops on airplanes. The information reportedly came from a US partner through an intelligence-sharing agreement.
Following the media reports, National Security Adviser Herbert Raymond McMaster stressed earlier that Trump has not revealed any intelligence sources in the conversation at the White House last week. The officials spoke about threats from terrorist organizations, including threats to aviation.
Later, Trump himself took to Twitter and said that he had every right to share information on terrorism and the safety of flights with Russian officials.
Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov echoed the sentiment, calling the allegations that Trump shared secret information with Russian officials "absurd."
A personal laptop computer used to archive Hillary Clinton’s e-mails when she was secretary of state went missing after being put in the mail, according to the FBI’s report on its investigation into her use of a private e-mail system.
FBI Says a Laptop That Held Clinton’s E-Mails Has Gone Missing
https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-09-02/fbi-says-a-laptop-that-held-clinton-s-e-mails-has-gone-missing
E-mails that Clinton sent and received through her private server during her tenure were archived on the laptop in 2013 by a person who was an assistant to former President Bill Clinton, the FBI said in its heavily redacted investigative report released Friday.
Someone whose name was redacted in the FBI report told the agency that he later deleted the e-mails from the laptop but didn’t wipe its hard drive. A computer technician can often recover such e-mails that have been deleted but not permanently erased from a laptop’s memory.
The FBI sought the laptop as part of its investigation, but it’s whereabouts remain unknown, the bureau said: The last time the laptop was seen was when it was put in the mail.
Sources suggest that having already sabotaged his policy agenda with a series of leaks, turncoats from within the administration could be instrumental in going rogue and pushing for the impeachment of President Trump.
Report: Turncoats From Within Trump Admin To Push For Impeachment
https://www.prisonplanet.com/report-turncoats-from-within-trump-admin-to-push-for-impeachment.html
The only way for impeachment to succeed would be if it was a bi-partisan effort. Bringing articles of impeachment against the president requires a majority vote in Congress, while a vote from at least two thirds of the Senate would be required to remove Trump from office.
The only way this could be accomplished was if former and current members of the administration acted as whistleblowers against Trump, which is precisely what could unfold in the coming months.
Some of Trump’s most prominent conservative media supporters have already been tipped off about the impeachment plan, including Matt Drudge, who has been desperately warning Trump in recent weeks that he needs to purge his administration of disloyal figures.
The initial call for impeachment is likely to come from within the Congressional Black Caucus, sources suggest. Its members have been the most vocal in calling for Trump to be removed from office.
Back in February, Rep. Yvette Clarke called for Trump’s impeachment, stating, “All of the ducks are beginning to line up, they are really beginning to line up around this presidency and I will just say to you, it won’t be long.”
With Trump set to take the gloves off and initiate a purge of administration insiders in the near future, the deep state and the Democratic Party establishment that has sought to sabotage Trump from day one will not relent on their hysterical mission to overthrow a democratically elected president.
This, combined with Trump’s frustration at members of his own team not being strong enough in retaliating to constant media smear campaigns, in addition to endless leaks, makes for a toxic combination.
In an effort to promote the idea that Trump’s impeachment is inevitable, prompting insiders to break rank, major news outlets have all published articles calling for the impeachment of Trump in recent days, including the Washington Post, The Nation, The Guardian, and the Chicago Tribune.
The Washington Post is so gung-ho for impeachment that members of its newsroom applauded themselves when traffic to the website broke records after the release of the Russia leak story yesterday.
Although impeachment is the ultimate end game, it doesn’t look to be on the immediate horizon.
During a town hall yesterday, Nancy Pelosi of all people emphasized that articles of impeachment can’t be brought on negative feelings alone
“What are the facts that you would make a case on? What are the rules that he may have violated? If you don’t have that case, you are just participating in more hearsay,” she said.
Update: Jason Chaffetz office just released the letter sent to the FBI's Andrew McCabe demanding all Comey-Trump related memos...
Chaffetz Demands FBI Hand Over All Comey's Notes, Memos, & Recordings Related To Trump
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-05-16/chaffetz-prepares-subpoena-i-will-get-comey-memo-if-it-exists
Today, the New York Times reported former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey memorialized the content of phone calls and meetings with the President in a series of internal memoranda. At least one such memorandum reportedly describes a conversation in which the President referenced the FBI investigation of former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and said to Comey, "I hope you can let this go."
According to the report, "Mr. Comey created similar memos — including some that are classified — about every phone call and meeting he had with the president." If true, these memoranda raise questions as to whether the President attempted to influence or impede the FBI's investigation as it relates to Lt. Gen. Flynn. So the Committee can consider that question, and others, provide, no later than May 24, 2017, all memoranda, notes, summaries, and recordings referring or relating to any communications between Comey and the President.
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the principal oversight committee of the House of Representatives and may at "any time" investigate "any matter" as set forth in House Rule X. An attachment to this letter provides additional information about responding to the Committee's request. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Trump and/or Comey are getting increasingly boxed in here - one or other is going to be proved a liar soon enough.

As we detailed earlier, following the New York Times latest Trump bombshell (see "Comey's Revenge: Leaks Memo To NYT Saying Trump Asked Him To End Flynn Investigation"), the impeachment word seems to be getting tossed around a little more loosely this evening. And, given the serious accusations levied by former FBI Director James Comey, the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Jason Chaffetz, has just promised that he will "get the Comey memo, if it exists," which was backed up by the not so thinly veiled threat: "I have my subpoena pen ready."
Meanwhile, in the following Q&A with NBC, Chaffetz says his committee has already started "drafting the necessary paperwork" to get Comey's memo to the extent it is not handed over voluntarily.
"If the memo exists, I need to see it and I need to see it right away. We are drafting the necessary paperwork to get the mom so we will find out in a hurry if its out there."
"I want to read the memo first but on the surface that seems like an extraordinary use of influence to try to shutdown an investigation being done by the FBI. I don't know if it's true yet but I want to find out if that's actually out there."
