Trump's Jerusalem decision

There might be some "sanity" behind what Trump just put in motion, including "his timing" in his announcement?

I was not aware of it until now but today's date (8 December 2017) marks the 30 year Anniversary of the first intifada ( 8 December 1987 ).

'Fire hidden under the ashes'

On 8 December 1987, an Israeli army truck ran into Palestinians in the Gaza Strip refugee camp of Jabalia, killing four.

The incident, which Palestinians saw as a deliberate attack, is widely recognized as the spark that began the intifada, or “uprising”.

“The intifada was a big surprise for everyone,” ...

“The economic situation in the West Bank at the time was relatively good, and perhaps even better than many surrounding states. The occupation’s pressure on the people was less than it is now, and targeted more directly against Palestinian revolutionary organizations.”

“But suddenly, Israel, the entire world, and - most importantly - Palestinians discovered that there was a fire hidden under the ashes that no one had noticed until then,” he added.

I might be looking at this situation out of context but Trump's Jerusalem announcement, in which he is getting the full blunt for, has turned a smothering conflict into a full blown bomb fire. Internationally, the response to the Palestinian's suffering (all these years) has mainly been lip-service because everyone has been tip toeing around the "elephant in the room - State of Israel" so that they don't come under "Israel's Wrath" and suffer some of the same consequences?

This last September, Israel celebrated it's "50th Occupation Anniversary" of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960704001424

About 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Palestinians want the West Bank as part of a future independent state, with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital.
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960704001431

Trump is considering a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians before he considers moving the US embassy to Jerusalem.

Speaking about the peace deal, Trump said he wants to "give that a shot before I even think about moving the embassy to Jerusalem". "Right now we are actually working on a plan that everybody says will never work, because for many, many years it never worked, they say it's the toughest deal of all, peace between Israel and the Palestinians."
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960717001439

Last month was the 100th Anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.
_http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Benjamin-Netanyahu/Netanyahu-to-go-to-London-next-week-for-Balfour-Declaration-centennial-508133

So, for a hundred years, the State of Israel has been in the process of taking over the Palestinian territory, causing death and destruction in it's path.

Thirty years ago was the first real uprising ( intifada) by the Palestinians, yet the State of Israel has forged ahead with it plans. Up to this point, any kind of Peace Plan has fallen through the cracks. In a sense, Trump's Declaration is like kicking a hornet's nest, inciting the deep emotions within the Palestinian Movement to the surface and giving it "center stage" where it can no longer be ignored on the International level?

We know that the unification of Israel and the recapture of the "Holy City" has been an objective of the Zionists and certain factions of the deep state for a long time. There is a certain soft power aspect to having Jerusalem fully under control of Israel; I think it makes Western religions look more legitimate because the infidels must've lost it because God is not on their side. This appeals to the gradually diminishing cohort that believes that the Jews are "God's chosen people" before they all die off and no is left who sees any point in Israelite-centric biblical prophecies. Additionally, there is the fact that Putin is pretty close to reducing the CIA's new "caliphate" to scattered street gangs. The deep state wants something to stir the pot on their way out because they know their hands are tied unless they challenge the Russians directly in a "Great Powers War." I don't give the condemnations of the NATO allies much stock, I just think that Europeans are less influenced by fundamentalist Christianity, and the politicians have to give some sort of lip service to maintaining civilized international laws in order to appear legitimate. Privately, a lot of them probably don't care very much.

There is also the fact that Trump would very much like to work together with Putin, but the deep state does its best to keep them quarantined, and I think they have to communicate a lot of things symbolically. My best guess on what's really going on is that there's some faction within the military industrial bureaucracy that wants to bring on the eschcaton, and Trump is of course the puppet that has to endorse it. I'm thinking that the embassy thing might be a sort of signaling to Putin that he's not completely on board and wants a bit of help. Putin has much more control over his government and is therefore freer to act, and with his superior statesmanship abilities he might be able to broker a deal as a true neutral party which will eventually benefit Trump by defusing the "apocalypse" that is being planned. In my opinion, if Trump has some kind of "secret plan," it has to involve Putin.

I highly doubt any sanity behind his announcement and only a manipulated push to escalate Israel's agenda. Most of those advising against it is, in my view, a fear of unpreparedness for a war in which their interests would be compromised or devastated. It would disturb the status quo of their pillaging and usury as has been the case for decades.

apprenti de forgeron,

As Joe mentioned about a previous session comment that it was 17 years ago and maybe we should't jump to conclusions based on just one Cs session answer. I think there have been many "timeline" variable changes since then.

This quote is 7 years ago and many changes continue at a rapid pace.

I think the part where "They have been practicing on "Jesus"" might be all the archeological "discoveries" centered around Jesus' tomb etc..

I agree. The comment on Jesus was just a speculation related to possible manipulations of 4D sts.

I don't want to take up valuable time or distract from this topic but there are many right wing fundamentalist Christians who follow this idea of re-establishing the temple with all the ritual implements and sacrifices.

Horrible. Sometimes I read what the Trump followers say on networks. They really look like good people, patriots and Christians, but unfortunately, blind defenders of Israel. Seeing the interpretations made by some Christians makes me think that they really live in another imaginary world - and how shocking it would be for them to read SOTT, for example-. I imagine that they must spend enormous energy in distorting and denying the zionist psychopathic actions - and the same with the armed forces of America-. And speaking of armed forces of America, they are also considered "Jews" by the Iraqis:

Jews, Israel and America
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMANOCT. 24, 2004

I was speaking the other day with Scott Pelley of CBS News's "60 Minutes" about the mood in Iraq. He had just returned from filming a piece there and he told me something disturbing. Scott had gone around and asked Iraqis on the streets what they called American troops -- wondering if they had nicknames for us in the way we used to call the Nazis "Krauts" or the Vietcong "Charlie." And what did he find? "Many Iraqis have so much distrust for U.S. forces we found they've come up with a nickname for our troops," Scott said. "They call American soldiers 'The Jews,' as in, 'Don't go down that street, the Jews set up a roadblock."'

I have no idea how widespread this perception is, but it does not surprise me that some Iraqis would talk that way. Our communications in Iraq have been so inept since we arrived, many Iraqis still don't know who America is or why it came. But such talk is also indicative of a trend in the Arab media, after a century of Arab-Jewish strife, where if you want to brand someone as illegitimate, just call him a "Jew." Indeed, this trend has widened since 9/11. Now you find a steadily rising perception across the Arab-Muslim world that the great enemy of Islam is JIA -- "Jews, Israel and America," all lumped together in a single threat.

Makes more sense if the above Cs snippet is the objective. I was shaking my head yesterday wondering why the heck they would do that when the reactions seem so predictable?

I'd be careful about taking a 16 year old comment from a session and thinking that it applies today. Since 2001, there have been several "wars in Palestine" waged by Israel that were the indirect result of "this Afghanistan or whatever" i.e. the 9/11 attacks and the projection of American power into the Middle East.

On the other hand, since we are now seeing 20 yr old predictions in full manifestation, and so much the Cs said about 9-11 has been shown to be pointing in the right direction, I don't think I would discard this because it is a 16 yr old "comment".

Given the ultimate objective being the total subjugation of Palestine (ref. 'Eretz Israel' _http://www.ahavat-israel.com/eretz/future), you can bet that any moves made by Israel before, during or after any recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel will be to fulfil this ultimate objective. I find this to be a useful (the primary) lens when observing these events.

Well, that's fascinating and terrifying. Perhaps the last card up the sleeve of the zionazis is a supremacist jesus jew...Maybe a jesus formed with some technological aid from 4D sts.

Muslims also expect the second coming of Jesus. They also expect the Antichrist, alas, they think he's a person with very peculiar features (rather than the "many faces of the dragon" interpretation). They think the Antichrist will reign for forty years but will then be killed by Jesus. Islam has a rather elaborate description of the set of events that will come before the "Day of Judgement".

It'd be interesting to see the 4d STS Jesus scenario play out and how it'd go with the Abrahamic religions.. Methinks all the true believers of the world will be fresh pickings for the Lizzies anyhow, look how they've done so far. Not so good

That's interesting about the Muslims. I haven't looked at their messianic view since the "Christian" prophesies were enough to keep me busy. This really gives a better understanding of why "Monotheism" is such a destructive lie.

It took me awhile to grok the deeper implications of why this is so important and how so many (including myself before finding Laura and the Cs information) just don't see how STS it really is.

It's like my god or the highway. Or like the psychopaths wanting to capture as much of the "harvest" they can before 4D sets in. Like Ark said 8 years ago:

Session 28 November 2009
Q: (Ark) But I can see how it's gonna happen. You see separately,
there are these psychopaths. At the same time, there are a lot of
people who are becoming very unstable. There are a lot of people
who go completely crazy, that psychopaths can see something is
happening - new opportunity, right? So, new victims. "They're mine!"
"No, they're MINE!" And so psychopaths will start to fight with each
other.

(L) Because they're more and more hungry. And then their masks will
fall away, and people will see them for what they are.
A: Yes

Monotheistic religion psychopathic? Well, when you see where it ends and why it makes more sense I think.

Listening to the many many comments in the main, the left main, it struck me as their opportunity (in their thinking) to further strike nails into the coffin of Trump - one aspect. The vocal and pen reactions of what is being said hinges on maintaining the illusion of the two-state solution, which is beyond a real solution as Harrison's article clearly states. With all the vocal noise, especially those who are making it, it was somewhat interesting considering that they made absolutely no noise when it really mattered. When it really mattered when Gaza was being reduced to rubble and a thousand other examples over time. They have said little as bibi nodded in 2017 to building 6,000 plus new settlements in the occupied territories. Yet all this with Trump is now a game-changer (the Christian Right thinks so) - it adds a new spotlight and seems to make people ask questions and make alignments.

When the MSN speaks it is a usually a decided upon narrative and that narrative extends to powerful people who are shaping things while spending a lot of time and resources trying to create a desired outcome - war usually. What Trump did is not desired for some, and yet what to make of it? What to make of Trumps son in-law and some of his pro-friends? What to make of the worlds reaction and what to make of what can't be seen or understood? What can be seen are all these years of chaos and dominance, yet can't see it all so I can't understand what exactly Trump's intentions are with Israel - which has bearing on so much more.

Whatever Trump is playing at; and it is game of the highest stakes, is it perhaps that the coffin nails are really about the deeper state of affairs, the Israel state, the congressional state and foreign policy state, and Trump seems to be giving people reason to watch what develops and what is further revealed - will it destroy something that many deep interests don't want revealed let alone destroyed?

In this game of Trump's, political image seems not of concern to him as can be seen in his actions and the press. However, Trump has a way of negating what people say anyway, even turning it back on them, which seems to drive people further into madness - their anti-Trumpness.

I don't know what will happen, it will not be easy for Palestinians to be sure or maybe the whole world, and yet in this myriad of foreign policy confusion there seems to be a deep dominance struggle going on underneath the layers for ultimate control, and people here know well what one side looks like.

The Jerusalem question is well regarded by the Christian right; from what can be read. And that brought up in my mind their old prophesy line of force for the rebuilding on the rock, the temple mount and finding the great red heifer etc. You can read and hear all the "Temple Talk" going on in America - _https://www.templeinstitute.org/events.htm

From _http://religionnews.com/2017/06/01/evangelicals-disappointed-yet-still-behind-trump-despite-israel-embassy-decision/

WASHINGTON (RNS) President Trump’s decision to maintain the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv has disappointed conservative Christians who were counting on him to make good on a key campaign promise.

But many expect that the long-awaited move will still occur and seem to give him the benefit of the doubt on the need to at least delay relocating the U.S. mission to Jerusalem given the realities of peacemaking in the Middle East.

“America’s recognition of the capital city of our foremost and only democratic ally in the Middle East should not be a bargaining chip,” said National Religious Broadcasters President Jerry A. Johnson, in a statement. “I am disappointed, but I take the President at his word that this is only a delay in delivering on his promise.”

The CBN channel also had something uplifting as a headline: 'We Ought to Be Rejoicing': Why Christians Are Celebrating Trump's Jerusalem Announcement and How to Pray for Israel" _https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/israel/2017/december/we-ought-to-be-rejoicing-why-christians-are-celebrating-trumps-jerusalem-announcement-and-how-to-pray-for-israel

And so Trump did make good, at least for them this far, as he offers some of his religious base something to hope for, yet does he understand what for? I think he does, and his play might be something completely different - yet I don't know.

Sometimes I forget about the Christian Right stuff, yet not completely, so had another look at this https://cassiopaea.org/2010/09/18/the-most-dangerous-cult-in-the-world/ by Laura and it certainly brought back some of the reasons why this move is so inciting to some as their eyes are on something much more in line with uplifting rapture.

Will the PTB in Israel see this as a green-light reason to do something really stupid, and feel supported in doing so, and they would be supported by many for their own religious - biblical dreams, or neocon reasons?

It just occured to me that 2 Days into a Mercury Retrograde is maybe not the best time for such an announcement.

Strange when you consider how often the STS types try to use such dates to Favour their plans.

"Decision-making is challenged during Mercury retrograde.

Needless to say, it is not advised to sign contracts, engage in important decision-making,"

"I don't know if most people here saw the article making the rounds on Facebook that ironically stated that Palestine recognized Texas to be part of Mexico? Surely Trump's move is as absurd and as meaningless as this article's assertion, at least for now?"

Palestinians recognize Texas as part of Mexico.
2 DAYS AGO by ALEX HUNTLEY

JERUSALEM – In response to US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, the Palestinian National Authority has announced that it will recognize Texas as a state of Mexico since it was violently annexed by the United States in the 1840s.

“The territory north and east of the Rio Grande is very important to the Mexican people,” explained a PNA spokesperson. “Before American settlers showed up and implemented slavery, Mexico oversaw this land. Then, President Polk sent his armies to invade the rest of these Mexican territories, and force the country to give up California, New Mexico, most of Arizona, Nevada, and Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado. We may soon recognize these states as part of Mexico too.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says that this is a new approach to Mexican-US relations, and hopes it will help ease the tension between the two countries over security and immigration.

“We understand that the Mexican state of Texas is a sacred place for many large-buckled Americans, but they can rest assured that a two-state solution or a wall was not feasible,” explained Abbas.

“Besides, most people in Texas speak Spanish.”

The Palestinian consulate in Mexico City will soon be moved to Houston to formally recognize the seized territory as part of Mexico.

At press time, President Trump hopes that his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital will offer a new path for Middle East violence.

It seems a joke but if you dig or if you apply the laws correctly, it can produce a serious problem for u.s.a., even more than what the government already has.

This issue of the correct delimitation of borders is already becoming recurrent, the last time was in the controversy produced by the announcement of the construction of the wall that Mexico had to pay and it returned the matter of the great irregularity in the border delimitations mexico - USA, where even the indolent and corrupt Mexican politicians took into account the correct boundaries of land and locate the true border.
In these times of "globalization" we must keep in mind, and right now we are seeing it, that NO COUNTRY IS ALONE, the wick is lit in a country and in minutes the others begin to get involved and take sides.

Andrei AKULOV | 10.12.2017 | WORLD /

Analysis: Trump’s Statement on Jerusalem Has Hidden Agenda

This week, President Trump made a step other presidents did not dare to take since the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act came into force, stating that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and should remain a united city, with the US Embassy moved there from Tel Aviv. Instead of another waiver, the president signed an executive order to comply with the law. Donald Trump was well aware that the move would cause indignation in the Islamic world and anger the allies. But there was method to his madness.

Is the president pro-Jewish, acting as Israel’s agent? Certainly, not, otherwise the media outlets backed by Jewish lobby would not attack him. The prominent Jewish leaders in America are not pro-Trump. So, it’s not about being pro-Israel, simply the US president does what he can – he is raising stakes, bluffing and exerting pressure. With his background as a businessman, he perceives foreign policy as the art of making deals. His statement, like the statements he has made on North Korea, results in rising tensions. The exacerbation of the situation on the Korean Peninsula puts pressure on China, pushing it to make concessions on a number of issues in different areas. Pyongyang is still hot on the agenda but somehow the new North Korea’ launches and constant exchange of hostile statements has become routine – something the world has gotten used to. Donald Trump can’t exploit the issue further as efficiently as he did before because the situation has reached an impasse.

It’s not the only impasse in the Middle East. No progress has been achieved in Israel-Palestine peace talks after many years of trying. The process is stalled. The United States is losing its position in the region. It does not appear to be the key actor in the region anymore against the background of Russia making huge gains.

Moscow is seen as the one who calls the shots in the Middle East. It has won in Syria having joined together with Turkey and Iran. Much has been said about the importance of its rapprochement with Egypt. It has close ties with Saudi Arabia, including military cooperation. Russian President Putin enjoys good personal relationship with Jordanian King Abdullah and the relations with Israel are excellent. Friendly with everybody, Moscow is well suited to mediate between Israel and Palestine. If progress is made, Russia’s clout in the region will grow immensely to dwarf that of the United States.

The Washington’s influence in the Middle East has been greatly reduced as a result of its failures in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Muslims do not view favorably its interventions in Libya and Somalia and support of Israel. The Trump’s stance on migration poured more fuel on fire. Can this trend be reversed?

By recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moving the embassy there, President Trump has come into the focus of attention. Yes, he is under fire at present but it will die down as time goes by. The president is seen now as a resolute leader able to stick to his guns and not succumb to fear or hesitation. He believes that Arab countries will look to the US again, hoping Donald Trump will use his influence to make Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agree to revive the negotiation process.

It serves the purpose to read attentively Trump’s statement. He points out that, despite the frustration with settlement efforts, the decision “is not intended, in any way, to reflect a departure from our strong commitment to facilitate a lasting peace agreement.” And he wants a deal. As the president put it, “We want an agreement that is a great deal for the Israelis and a great deal for the Palestinians.” According to Mr. Trump, “a peace agreement that is acceptable to both sides,” remains to be the goal. The president emphasized that the US is “not taking a position of any final status issues, including the specific boundaries of the Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem, or the resolution of contested borders. Those questions are up to the parties involved.”

So, Donald Trump is talking about the status of Jerusalem to be negotiated. He does not state the US recognizes East Jerusalem as part of Israel. It fact, the United States recognizes West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which is viewed as Israel’s territory by international community anyway. There is nothing new in this approach. In the statement, the president never said which Jerusalem, East or West, he is talking about. And he did it on purpose.

Israel’s leaders took the Trump’s bait. Now they cannot say no to the US president known as the great defender of Israel. The only thing president Trump has to do is wait till the dust settles.

The hopes may be dashed and the plans to pursue the hidden agenda may backfire. Moscow can initiate the revival of Israel-Palestine dialogue. It has already made known its readiness to mediate and host the meetings.

It’s worth noting here that in April Russia said it viewed West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, calling for Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem. “We reaffirm our commitment to the UN-approved principles for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which include the status of East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state. At the same time, we must state that in this context we view West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The Moscow’s stand on the issue is still at odds with the Israel’s position as it claims the entire city as its eternal united capital.

With Palestine turning away from the US and Russia’s clout grown as a result of Syria’s victory, the chances that Moscow could step in to head the peace effort have significantly grown. If it succeeds, the US will be rolled back.

Analysis: Trump’s Statement on Jerusalem Has Hidden Agenda

The article is a great find, H20. It's an interesting analysis of Trump's position and better clarification of his statements, "Donald Trump is talking about the status of Jerusalem to be negotiated. He does not state the US recognizes East Jerusalem as part of Israel. It fact, the United States recognizes West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which is viewed as Israel’s territory by international community anyway."

Which is basically, what Russia has stated prior, as their position, "Russia said it viewed West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, calling for Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem. “We reaffirm our commitment to the UN-approved principles for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which include the status of East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state. At the same time, we must state that in this context we view West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”

While everyone is focused on Trump, Netanyahu is using the protests as an excuse to continue shelling Gaza, blowing up tunnels, arresting and killing Palestinians. I don't see any kind of a Peace deal, while Netanyahu is still Prime Minister and Avigdor Lieberman, as Defense Minister?

Since 1967, the UN regularly adopted resolutions concerning the status of Jerusalem, most of them dealing with withdrawing military forces, condemnation of land confiscation and settlement expansion, as well as requesting that Israel refrains from holding military activities in the city. A recurring warning was that no action should be taken to change the status of Jerusalem.

Trump’s declaration is a reflection of the UN’s earlier colonial impositions on Palestine Friday December 8, 2017
https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20171208-trumps-declaration-is-a-reflection-of-the-uns-earlier-colonial-impositions-on-palestine/

US President Donald Trump exposed the fallacy behind international recommendations yesterday with his unilateral declaration of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city. Away from the outpouring of indignation from Palestinians who have resisted the Zionist colonial project, the opposition to Trump’s declaration has been mostly diluted by statements that simply acknowledge the action taken as reprehensible, instead of focusing upon responsibility, accountability and ramifications – all of which should lead directly to the UN.

The hype generated by Trump on previous occasions, which illustrated his administration’s support for Israel, is becoming a convenient tool for Israel, the PA and the UN, due to such tactics generating a fragmented response and one that strengthens reliance upon symbolism. Trump’s statement goes against UN resolutions. However, it is a known fact that UN resolutions are a façade for the allowance of international law violations. Palestine is no exception – on the contrary, it is an epitome of how international politics have shaped the disappearance of people and territory, leaving only slivers of land as a specific focus detracting from the entire colonial structure and the institutions supporting it.

Without detracting attention from the latest development, discussing Jerusalem in isolation puts the rest of Palestine at risk at a political level. Trump has stepped away from the requirements of the Quartet, namely the two-state compromise which, months ago, was mulled over publicly by the US president in sentences which attracted more derision than scrutiny. What will it take now to declare an official departure from the negotiations which have changed Palestine in a more dangerous manner than Trump?

The UN’s useless, specific focus on Jerusalem can, however, serve as an example of how it has allowed colonialism and its allies to change Palestine permanently. The Times of Israel is already quoting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating: “We are holding contacts with other countries who will also recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.” The prediction for such moves, Netanyahu stated, is based upon the future relocation of the US embassy. Again, this rhetoric is nothing new – a few months ago Netanyahu made similar statements regarding Jerusalem and the eventual relocation of embassies. If other countries follow suit, even if these are a minority, how does the UN plan to safeguard Jerusalem’s status through resolutions?

This also begets another question – how will the UN frame the two-state compromise, which UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres immediately reiterated as the only solution, now that a clear departure from the obsolete formula has been made? Trump’s actions have defined previous warnings on the subject which the UN preferred not to heed in its quest to deprive Palestinians of a political solution – something it has done since its inception.
With such an obscene human rights violations record, expecting the UN to protect Palestine and Palestinians, as has been requested on several occasions, should not even be considered, let alone devise an approach. For decades, the UN has stolen the rights of Palestinians to claim their land. It also bequeathed Israel with a farcical legitimacy through one main omission – that of recognizing a colonial entity as a state.

Sadly, the Palestinian Authority, as a derivative of such corruption, never prioritized Palestine and Palestinians. Jerusalem, however, will provide Mahmoud Abbas with an opportunity to pontificate meaninglessly, embellishing this degeneration with adjectives depicting illusion instead of defining true ownership. Once the furor over this episode abates and it is consigned to the growing timeline of violations, Abbas will undoubtedly pursue the remnants of the internationally-accepted fabrication of negotiations and compromise to earn plaudits from the UN, until there is nothing left to compromise over.

It should come as no surprise that Donald Trump has declared that the US is recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

An illegitimate capital for a state without legitimacy Thurs. December 7, 2017 (Map)

For seasoned US-Israel watchers, it merely confirms what we have been saying for decades: Washington is no honest broker in negotiations to end the Palestine-Israel conflict. Quite the opposite, in fact; it has ensured that the odds have been stacked in Israel’s favor and turned a blind eye to its contempt for international law — which Trump clearly shares — even while its brutal military occupation has stolen ever more Palestinian land throughout the seven decades since 1948.

US recognition of Israel’s self-declared capital has no legal basis. The 1947 UN Partition Plan for Palestine, upon which Israel largely bases its international legitimacy, had three components: “Independent Arab and Jewish States and the Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem”. Only one of these has come into being, primarily because Israel and its backers haven’t allowed the others to happen. What’s more, although the borders of the “Arab and Jewish States” were set out clearly by the UN, Israel took possession of more than its allocation, including West Jerusalem. It took the rest of the city in 1967 along with the remaining land designated for the “Arab State”, and went on to annex the Holy City; this has never been recognized by the rest of the world and, legally, Jerusalem remains “occupied territory”, as do the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Hence, if we are to be accurate, whenever we discuss the Israeli occupation, this should refer to the West Bank, Gaza Strip and other land now accepted to be part of Israel which it has occupied since the 1949 Armistice. While paying lip-service to the UN Partition Plan for its own legitimacy, Israel continues to ignore the terms of the resolution in almost every respect. A glance at the “Disappearing Palestine” maps confirms this unpleasant fact on the ground.

Ignoring the UN is the norm for Israel; it has violated 28 UN Security Council Resolutions — which are supposed to be binding on UN member states — and ignored at least 40 non-binding General Assembly Resolutions. There is a strong case for throwing Israel out of the UN, given such a record and the fact that its membership in the first place was dependent on allowing Palestinian refugees to return to their homes. This has never been permitted by Israel, and the UN has been unable or unwilling to enforce the will of the international community.

In part, of course, this is because of the diplomatic protection given to Israel by the United States, which has used its veto in the Security Council to block resolutions critical of Israel at least 40 times since 1972. It also reflects the impotence of Europe in the face of whatever power the pro-Israel lobby has over its politicians. European guilt over the Holocaust, perhaps? Or something more mundane, such as electoral influence and donations? Or maybe a combination of the two.

Jerusalem is occupied, US cannot change status quo

Whatever it is, we can’t pin the blame entirely on Trump and the US; European complicity has also played a role in allowing Israel to act with impunity, as has the collaboration of the Palestinian Authority in what President Mahmoud Abbas has called its “sacred” security cooperation with the occupying state. Indeed, as is now becoming clear, it seems as if major Arab countries have been involved in their own, under the radar, collaboration with Israel by establishing now very open links with the Zionist state.

It is hard to know at the moment if Trump actually understands what impact his move on Jerusalem will have on the people in the region. None of us knows for certain, of course, but it doesn’t take a genius to work out that the prospects for a just peace are now even more remote. A peace of sorts could be imposed by brute force, no doubt, but it would never be based on justice; and it would never last.

Do the US President and his right-wing supporters care about this? Probably not. America’s Christian Zionists largely back him to the hilt, and they aren’t interested in peace; they see the establishment of the state of Israel and the “incoming of the exiles” (the Jews) as an essential prelude to the second coming of Jesus and “the rapture”; ultimately, in fact, the end of the world. The late Grace Halsell explained this thinking in her 1999 book “Forcing God’s Hand”. Israel exploits this through its lobby groups around the world to gain political, military and economic support.

What was Trump thinking? Simple. Why delay the inevitable?

What effect will Trump’s declaration have on the Palestinians for whom Jerusalem is home? Will Israel complete the ethnic cleansing of the city by forcing them out and bringing their complete ethnic cleansing a step closer? With the US watching its back, it is perfectly feasible that the far-right government of Benjamin Netanyahu will feel emboldened enough to do this.

Another option would be for the Jerusalemite Palestinians to be offered Israeli citizenship, but that would upset those who already see Israel’s 20 per cent non-Jewish citizens as a democratic threat to the “Jewish State”. The likelihood, therefore, is that Israeli Apartheid will simply be entrenched further and those Palestinians left in occupied Jerusalem will face yet more discrimination at the hands of an overtly racist government.

Pro-Israel lobbyists are forever bleating that the campaign for justice for and by the Palestinians seeks to “de-legitimize” the state, but they have yet to explain with any credibility the validity of its credentials; in truth, there is none. Israel’s latest poodle in Washington has now recognized an illegitimate capital for a state without legitimacy.

Moreover, Israel has become a rogue state par excellence; not only is its star rising— for now — but it has also been incredibly successful in convincing the major powers in the world that it is the innocent victim in all of this. However, it is no longer surrounded by hostile states; the “self-defence and security” excuse for its vile occupation and military offensives against Palestinian civilians is unravelling as Saudi Arabia and the UAE join Jordan and Egypt in tying their camels and putting their trust in Tel Aviv.

Israel is ticking the boxes on its wish list. The battle for Jerusalem appears to have been won. After incessant Jewish colonial-settler incursions into the Noble Sanctuary — which will be viewed in the future as its initial skirmishes — the battle for Al-Aqsa Mosque, the heart of the Palestinian and Muslim presence in the Holy Land, may well be about to start in earnest. Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is just the beginning. The next target will be to occupy and demolish Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock Mosques and build a temple in their place. The blueprints for this are already prepared.

With the villain of the piece portrayed as the victim — poor little Israel — and those with international law and justice on their side demonised as wrongdoers, the days of the False Messiah may well be upon us. Anyone for Armageddon?

Thanks for the updates.

That is interesting about the East/West aspect of Jerusalem, yet if so is it is being shielded by others, such as here with Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah:

Transcript:

O’ brothers and sisters, as was said yesterday in several places within the Arab and Islamic world, we feel as if we are before a Balfour Declaration – a second Balfour Declaration. Now whether it is a coincidence, or whether it was planned, that 100 years after the first Balfour Declaration, the second Balfour Declaration has come to us…

The American stance use to form a barrier – in one way or another – before Israeli efforts to gain absolute control, and to fully implement the Zionist project, for al-Quds (Jerusalem). If we pay attention to this point, then we will understand the danger of this new American decision. Because what did Trump say to them? He said to them: this (city) of al-Quds (Jerusalem), all of it, (including) its western and eastern (parts), this al-Quds (Jerusalem) is yours. This is your land. This is your capital. This is under your sovereignty. Okay then, its finished, the tactical American barrier, which was related to diplomacy, and political administration of the negotiations, and the balancing of stances between the Zionist entity and Arab/Islamic states, all this fell yesterday following a fatal blow. Today, the enemy’s government (Israel), Netanyahu and his group, have no barrier before them after this American stance.

———

We can frankly say after this announcement that the Islamic and Christian sanctities are (now) in great danger, and we must raise the alarm, yet what is in greater danger is the al-Aqsa Mosque itself – the al-Aqsa Mosque itself, which some day, no one should be surprised if we wake up and they say to us ‘there were some excavations under the al-Aqsa Mosque, and (God knows) what happened, (we were making) a tunnel or demolishing a wall, and the Mosque collapsed, it was just a mistake’. This can happen any night and at any moment.

———

(The city) of al-Quds is the heart of the Palestinian cause, it is the centre of the Palestinian cause, the axis of the Palestinian cause, the essence of the Palestinian cause. When al-Quds is removed from this cause, then what remains? Nothing is left. What is Trump saying today to the Palestinians, the Arab and Islamic worlds, and the whole world? ‘There is no more Palestinian cause, this issue is over. (Rather), there are some people, Palestinians, some of them are present within Israel – according to his terminology – and some are present outside (of Israel), we need to find a solution for them’. ‘We need to see where we’re going to place them, maybe to Jordan, or perhaps give them Sinai, give them self-administration perhaps, what do we do with them in Gaza’, that’s the extent of the issue.

As for a Palestinian cause, and the heart and essence to this cause which is al-Quds (Jerusalem), as far as America is concerned, this came to an end yesterday.

———

Let alone the fate of a (possible) Palestinian state, an independent (state) with the holy al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. Okay where is al-Quds anymore according to the Americans, so that you can negotiate – the Palestinians are unanimous, regardless of whether they demand from the river to the sea, or accept the 1967 borders permanently or temporarily, (they are unanimous) that the capital of their Palestinian state, no matter what its size, must be east al-Quds (Jerusalem). The Americans today have crossed out this issue for good. If the Americans…who were the sponsors and guarantors – meaning the sponsors of the negotiations and the guarantors of agreements if they occur – (the Americans) are saying to us all and the Palestinians, that al-Quds (Jerusalem) is not part of the negotiations. That’s it, this issue is non-negotiable, nor even the subject of discussion. We can speak about other things – if you wish to continue negotiations – we can speak about other things. However, we will not discuss al-Quds (Jerusalem).

———

At least apparently, all world states reject this decision, and do not support it, with varying language used. Also apparently at least, all Arab and Islamic states reject this decision and do not support it. Okay, that means that the world – all world states – are saying to Trump that we reject this decision, some say ‘reject’, some say ‘we’re regretful’, some say ‘we do not support’, some say ‘we denounce’, some say ‘we condemn’, the various terms and language of each stance. Therefore (Trump) does not care about anyone, nor does he accept from anyone, nor does he respect anyone. Neither his European allies, nor his allies in the Arab and Islamic world, nor the so-called international community. If all these states are not the international community, then who is the international community? Washington? And you know that the Americans sometimes wage war on nations and governments under the pretext that they do not respect the will of the international community. Okay, where is (Trump’s) respect for the international community, his respect for the international will, and his respect for world states?

{One might ask if all the leaders in their back rooms are not saying what Hassan said - it does not take much to see that the statuesque is not working. Hassan also neglects the changing conditions (initiated by Russia and implied by Trump) that have resulted in the region with the funded IS/ISIS/Daesh mercenaries disbanded and a pledge to continue to wipe them out}

What we saw yesterday is contempt and disregard for all states, capitals, and governments of the world, for the sake of Israel, which we’ll get to at the end. This is one. Furthermore, (Trump) knows, and those in his administration know, that in this decision is an insult – not just disregard – rather an insult and attack on the feelings of 1.4-1.5 billion Muslims in the world at least, and with them also hundreds of millions of Christians who do not agree with this step and feel insulted and incited (by this decision). Okay, we don’t want to add up a huge number, (at least) hundreds of millions of Muslims and Christians yesterday felt insulted, that the city they sanctify, which contains their sanctities, and their religious and civilizational identity, and which represents their long and illustrious history, was just given away, just like that, to a manufactured Zionist state, and all of this history, values, and meanings were confiscated.

———

All forms of protest, condemnation, denouncement, outcry, and denunciation across the Arab and Islamic worlds, rather across the world, must occur in order to be heard by the American administration, and felt by the usurping entity (Israel).

———

The cutting off of diplomatic relations with Israel, the closing of its embassies and the expulsion of its ambassadors. This is the least (a state) can do. This is al-Quds (Jerusalem), this is al-Quds (Jerusalem), meaning this is the end of the line, this is the last thing that the Arab and Islamic worlds could expect. (Furthermore), ceasing all steps (aimed at) normalisation (of ties with Israel), which have begun taking place in more than one country in the Arab and Islamic world, and particularly in the Gulf. (Steps being taken) on social media, and (mutual) visits, meetings, and (on the) media level. All this must stop. And any step (towards) normalisation today is the greatest betrayal of al-Quds (Jerusalem) after what occurred yesterday.

What Nasrallah said seem expected from Hezbollah as a reaction; what else would he say, and it will incite many. At the same time what he said does not exactly match what Trump signed as a proclamation - and people will read into it to suit their positions. After looking at the proclamation it seems like Trump is saying that, yes, it is a mess and something has to change, so here it is "Let us rethink old assumptions and open our hearts and minds to possible and possibilities," he is adding, and more that does not set-in-stone the outcome. One can also imagine that this is not happening without extensive consultation - 'back channeling' and agreements between leaders outside the press narratives. There is also obviously the Muslims as a group (yet that has divisions), the aims of the Christian right, or others who see the situation as being ripe or disastrous for their future conditions.

There is indeed waning and waxing power-shifts going on in the regions; influences/alliances are growing and abating and I would not speculate on where it will go as it seems so unpredictable given the interests; religious, prophetic, political, economic-resources, military industrial complex and intelligence controls.

Lastly, thought it interesting when Hassan stated right at the beginning that this proclamation came "100 years after the first Balfour Declaration, the second Balfour Declaration has come to us…". Timing.

Here is parts of Trump's (The U.S. President's) signed Proclamation for review:

snip said:
In 1995, Congress adopted the Jerusalem Embassy Act, urging the federal government to relocate the American embassy to Jerusalem and to recognize that that city -- and so importantly -- is Israel’s capital. This act passed Congress by an overwhelming bipartisan majority and was reaffirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate only six months ago.
[...]
Therefore, I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. {right, not which part}
[...]
We are not taking a position of any final status issues, including the specific boundaries of the Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem, or the resolution of contested borders. Those questions are up to the parties involved.
[...]
In making these announcements, I also want to make one point very clear: This decision is not intended, in any way, to reflect a departure from our strong commitment to facilitate a lasting peace agreement. We want an agreement that is a great deal for the Israelis and a great deal for the Palestinians.

The United States remains deeply committed to helping facilitate a peace agreement that is acceptable to both sides. I intend to do everything in my power to help forge such an agreement. Without question, Jerusalem is one of the most sensitive issues in those talks. The United States would support a two-state solution if agreed to by both sides.

In the meantime, I call on all parties to maintain the status quo at Jerusalem's holy sites, including the Temple Mount, also known as Haram al-Sharif.
[...]
So today, let us rededicate ourselves to a path of mutual understanding and respect. Let us rethink old assumptions and open our hearts and minds to possible and possibilities. And finally, I ask the leaders of the region -- political and religious; Israeli and Palestinian; Jewish and Christian and Muslim -- to join us in the noble quest for lasting peace.

Thank you. God bless you. God bless Israel. God bless the Palestinians. And God bless the United States. Thank you very much. Thank you.
