Venezuela's Presidential Elections 2024

Now we're seeing the long awaited catch to Elon's purchase and revival of Twitter in the name of "free speech". Hopefully anyone with the eyes to see can now cease their misguided hero worship. When all's said and done, he's a deep state creation, and deep state goals will always come first for him.

I do think the fervour with which he is pushing this psyop is strange. Are there not better hills to potentially die on? Maybe it's the last chance for a coup there before BRICS influence is too strong, so they're trying everything.
Not surprising that many conservative types are currently falling for this propaganda operation. It feels like groundhog day, CIA has been facilitating these revolutions and coups for 80 years, yet the commentary and analysis in social media has been reduced to this ridiculous left-right tribalism, so now the right goes: "Maduro is communist, communist man bad!"

And yeah, Musk's role is telling. He is eagerly sharing fake/manipulated videos, and other obvious propaganda talking points. Also Twitter/X is being utilized in Venezuela to mobilize protesters, so perhaps he is being promised something for his role (whether or not his participation is only due to ideological blindspots).

But the army is now standing by Maduro, so looks like this coup attempt is going to fail:

Liberal ideology is mixed with what our friend Santiago Armesilla calls democratic fundamentalism. And magically everything is reduced to a question of votes and elections. They don't want you to see what the real problem is.

Oil and natural gas -the largest reserves in the world, larger than those of the Arabs- and mineral resources such as gold, iron, bauxite, diamonds, coal and coltan. That is what is in Venezuelan territory and that is what is at stake in this undeclared third world war.

There is also a strategic geographical position in the Caribbean Sea, a potential beachhead a thousand times more important than Cuba's because it has self-sufficiency and territorial continuity with the South American subcontinent. Venezuela is a very, very valuable pearl.

What nobody wants to say is that the struggle in Venezuela is between the West (the United States and its accomplices in Western Europe, with the global elites) and the East (China, Russia and Iran, basically). These are the ones fighting for control of Venezuelan territory today.

Whoever gains control will have the resources to win the war and establish the new legal order of the world in the post-war period. None of them are very concerned about the Venezuelan nation-people right now and it is only right that they should be: this is geopolitics in the open.

Don't be fooled, it is not an ideological question that is being settled here. Nor is it a struggle between tyranny and democracy. Take a good look at how you want the world to be after the war and there you will find your legitimate place of opinion in this conflict.

And remember that our semicolonial condition results, to a large extent, from the end of World War II in 1945. The triumph of the West in that war was disastrous for the project of national liberation of the peoples of our Hispanic America.

It is not convenient for the Yankee to win again and that is all. To get entangled in the discussion about whether Maduro is a dictator or a democrat is useless, it is all smoke and mirrors. It is necessary to look at the concrete interests and see what is best for oneself. The world has to change.

Little by little the reason (one of many) that Milei is turning his attention to Venezuela now is being revealed.

Dozens of people break the police siege on the Argentine embassy, refuge of six close collaborators of María Corina Machado

The Chavista police surrounded the Argentine Embassy in Caracas with hooded agents, amid the tension that Venezuela is experiencing after the massive protests carried out throughout the city. Inside the diplomatic headquarters remain six of the closest collaborators of the opposition leader María Corina Machado, refugees by the government of Buenos Aires after the arrest warrants made against them by Chavismo.

These are Magalli Meda, head of Machado's campaign command; journalist Claudia Macero, Communications coordinator; Pedro Urruchurtu, responsible for the international plot; former deputy Omar González, Humberto Villalobos, electoral specialist of the campaign command and adviser Fernández Martínez Mottola.

Government officials say opposition refugees at the Argentine embassy in Venezuela are coordinating plans for violence

"The diplomatic representatives of the Argentine embassy have to be summoned by the Venezuelan foreign ministry. Here we have to respect the laws and we have to respect the precepts established in international diplomatic relations,” Jorge Rodríguez, head of President Nicolás Maduro's campaign command, said on Thursday.

Since March, six close collaborators of the opposition leader, María Corina Machado, who are under arrest warrants for allegedly being involved in destabilizing plans, have been taking refuge in the Argentine embassy in Caracas.

Rodríguez, also president of the parliament and head of the official delegation in the negotiations with the opposition, said that if criminal acts are being planned from an embassy, international principles are violated.

After the threats of Nicolás Maduro, Costa Rica offered political asylum to Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado
The Central American country's foreign ministry also extended the offer to the politically persecuted in the country, including those who have been granted asylum at the Argentine Embassy in Caracas

President Maduro: Venezuela will not fall into the hands of fascism

From the Ayacucho Hall of the Miraflores Palace, the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a press conference with the international media, to clarify the latest events that took place on Monday throughout Venezuela, following the presidential elections of July 28, after which the National Electoral Council (CNE) declared him the reelected president.

The Head of State, dismayed by all the events against the Homeland, affirmed that the Bolivarian Revolution is armed with people, militia and military force, in order to defend itself from the oligarchy and surnames.

He warned that "they want to put Venezuela into a civil war, what has Venezuela done against you, against the United States, against the West, how much evidence do you want us to present for you, enough is enough! You are going to be defeated with the Law and the Constitution, Venezuela has its truth and I come to demonstrate the truth of Venezuela, I am not afraid of your lies, I am going to face you, we want everything to continue being Constitutional and in peace, and we do not want to go to other ways of making Revolution (...) we are a Bolivarian Revolution that has roots, has people and has military, a peaceful electoral Revolution".

The Venezuelan President pointed out that if "the US imperialism, the surnames and the ultra-right continue harming Venezuela, my pulse will not tremble for a new revolutionary movement and call the people to a new Revolution with other characteristics, the people know it. We will defend our country, I solemnly say it from the political power, we want to follow the path that Chavez traced".

In this line, he stressed that Venezuela will not fall into the hands of fascism or imperialism, because everything that has been done has been to defend the homeland, the entrepreneurship, the right of the worker, the merchant, the common man and woman to be in their homes with peace of mind.

"We are achieving that peace in Venezuela and I want to thank the police and military forces, the National Guard and the People's Power, that at this hour in which I am speaking, Venezuela is in peace", he emphasized.

I see a man who wants to defend the sovereignty of his people. Maduro said to the international media:

"It's okay that you don't like me, you don't like Chavez, you don't like Bolivar or our history, but why do you have to put a country in a war, you with your media. Remember the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Who created the dossier? Who created the lie? And they bombed. A million dead in Iraq. And who is asking for forgiveness from the Western media? Who asked for forgiveness from CNN or from the BBC, from AFP, WAPO, NYT? Who asked for forgiveness for the one million families lost in Iraq?

Who asked for forgiveness for the more than 200,000 dead in the invasion of Libya and the assassination of its Great Leader Muamar Gaddafi? Who apologized for more than 20 years of death and destruction in Afghanistan?

Why do they want to get Venezuela into a war? Why is this campaign against Venezuela? Venezuela has its truth and I come here to defend the truth of our country, I am not afraid of your lies, I come to confront them with the truth. I have only one school, I did not study at Cambridge, nor Harvard nor Yale. I have not been and will not be an agent of the CIA or Scotland Yard. I will never lend myself to work for an international intelligence agency in order to harm my country. I am simply Nicolas Maduro, student, worker, trade unionist, constituent, deputy, chancellor and I act out of love, yes, I am a warrior of love, I am not a dilettante of love. Although I like poetry very much, I do not stay only in poetry praising love. I take love to concrete action where it has touched me. And if I am here in this palace of Miraflores in this hall, it is because I have persevered in love. How much they have done to assassinate me, you know it, many of you know it more than I do, how much they have done to overthrow me.

Jorge Rodríguez exposes false acts used by the opposition

We reveal the farce, published on a website, of the alleged minutes presented by the extreme right, without data of members of tables, witnesses, machine operators and even flat signatures. The ultra-right has never had the disposition to recognize the electoral results!
Rodríguez explained that the website only contains 9,468 alleged minutes of the more than 36,000 tables installed on Sunday, July 28.

"They had decided not to abide by the result of the CNE. They set up a pantomime, a kind of parallel CNE through this page, they were never willing to accept the result of the electoral referee,” he denounced.

He also pointed out that 100% of the acts presented in an election must be perfect, without damage or without data.

However, in the ones presented by the ultra-right, many of them appear flat signatures, in others they do not have the signature of the witnesses, others broken, incomplete and illegible.

Dead people appear in the minutes of the opposition

Rodríguez reported that in the documents collected by the command, deceased people appear voting, such as the renowned Venezuelan journalist Ricardo Durán, who was killed by violent gangs in 2016.

Chavismo disseminated on social networks results of false exit polls of a pollster that does not exist

Despite the fact that Lewis and Thompson claims on its website to have more than 25 years of experience in the field, the investigation of the Venezuelan NGO Fake hunters News revealed that its web domain was created just 18 days ago, on July 10, 2024.

The irregularities do not end there. The X account associated with Lewis and Thompson was created only on July 19, 2024 and has only 222 followers, which is unusual for a company that boasts such vast experience. In addition, a Google search does not turn up any records prior to July 2024 about any election analysis firm with that name.

“There is no proof that Lewis and Thompson is a legitimate electoral analysis firm," the Venezuelan researchers said. This discovery has generated concern among analysts and the public, given that exit polls are a crucial tool for predicting election results and orienting both the media and voters.

The integrity of electoral analysis firms is fundamental for democratic transparency. By disseminating unverified information, Lewis and Thompson has put public trust in electoral processes at risk. The manipulation of data and the creation of false entities undermine voters' trust in institutions.

Two of the public figures who echoed these false data were the former presidents of Ecuador and Bolivia, Rafael Correa and Evo Morales, who published the alleged polls on their account on the social network X.

"With Venezuela blocked and in crisis, the Ecuadorian right said that you had to vote for them to avoid becoming Venezuela. Now it seems that Venezuelans are voting to avoid becoming an Ecuador that, without a blockade, has been destroyed by the right," Correa wrote in the post that he ended up deleting minutes later.

Came across this during my nightly news, from RT, worth the read regarding the irregularities on the claims being made by the opposition.

Video is in spanish.

A lawyer introduced the identity card of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and his number showed an error.

The inconsistencies of the alleged election results published in a web page of the opposition María Corina Machado's team, which give as winner her candidate Edmundo González, have been again pointed out by those who have entered the portal.

The Colombian lawyer and content creator David Porras published a video in his networks where he asserts that he found "multiple irregularities" within the page promoted by Machado, such as the place where "detailed results" and the electoral records "table by table" are published.

Among the abnormalities reported by Porras is that, when entering Maduro's ID card in the system, the legend "Error 404" appears, so the president's vote would not be registered in that platform, despite the fact that he was the first Venezuelan to vote last Sunday 28th.

Porras, who is also a human rights defender, added that he also found alleged minutes without signatures of witnesses and machine operators.

More irregularities

The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, explained last week that in order for the minutes to be valid, they must be signed by the witnesses of each political party and by the person who operates the machine where Venezuelans vote in an automated manner. If these signatures are not present, the minutes will not be valid before the National Electoral Council (CNE), in charge of the scrutiny.

Likewise, Porras entered numbers of Venezuelans who had expressed in the networks disagreements with the information of the web page and found that there are "flat signatures", a denomination used in Venezuela when apparently the same person writes the name of several people with a single spelling or only with their initials.

The Colombian lawyer, in response to the questionings he received in the networks for his findings, responded in another interaction that seeks to expose that the platform is fraudulent, that deceased persons appear in the registry, so they have not been purged from the system, and that there is incomplete information and records.

What a joke from CIANN, as Jim Acosta takes it so virally serious 😂

This is another example of journalism hitting the skids.

The United States has seized Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro’s airplane after determining that its acquisition was in violation of US sanctions, among other criminal issues. The US flew the aircraft to Florida on Monday, according to two US officials

It’s the latest development in what has long been a frosty relationship between the US and Venezuela, and its seizure in the Dominican Republic marks an escalation as the US continues to investigate what it regards as corrupt practices by Venezuela’s government.

The plane has been described by officials as Venezuela’s equivalent to Air Force One and it has been pictured in previous state visits by Maduro around the world.

“This sends a message all the way up to the top,” one of the US officials told CNN. “Seizing the foreign head of state’s plane is unheard-of for criminal matters. We’re sending a clear message here that no one is above the law, no one is above the reach of US sanctions.”

CNN has reached out to the Venezuelan Government, the US Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice and State Department for comment.

The situation in Venezuela has had implications for US politics as millions flee the country, many of whom have chosen to migrate to the US-Mexico border.

For years, US officials have sought to disrupt the flow of billions of dollars to the regime. Homeland Security Investigations — the second largest investigative agency in the federal government — has seized dozens of luxury vehicles, among other assets, heading to Venezuela.

The plane — a Dassault Falcon 900, according to flight records, is estimated to cost around $13 million — had been in the Dominican Republic in recent months. US officials didn’t disclose why, but it presented an opportunity for US officials to seize the aircraft.

Multiple federal agencies were involved in the seizure, including Homeland Security Investigations; Commerce agents, the Bureau of Industry and Security; and the Justice Department.

US officials worked closely with the Dominican Republic, which notified Venezuela of the seizure, according to one of the US officials.

One of the next steps, upon arriving to the US, will be pursuing forfeiture, meaning the Venezuelan government has a chance to petition for it, and collecting evidence from the aircraft.

The US recently placed pressure on the Venezuelan government to “immediately” release specific data regarding its presidential election, citing concerns about the credibility of strongman leader Maduro’s victory.

Earlier this year, the US reimposed sanctions on Venezuela’s oil and gas sector in response to the Maduro government’s failure to allow “an inclusive and competitive election” to take place.

After the controversial reelection of Maduro on July 28, Venezuela suspended commercial flights to and from the Dominican Republic.

Federal agencies, including HSI, have long been going after the Venezuelan government over corruption concerns. Over recent years, HSI has disrupted $2 billion worth of the Venezuelan government’s illicit proceeds or resources, including judgements, seizures, liquidation of bank accounts, according to one of the US officials.

In March 2020, the US Department of Justice charged Maduro, together with 14 current and former Venezuelan officials, with narco-terrorism, drug trafficking and corruption.

“For more than 20 years, Maduro and a number of high-ranking colleagues allegedly conspired with [Colombian left-wing guerrillaa] the FARC, causing tons of cocaine to enter and devastate American communities.,” then-Attorney General William Barr said at the time.

The State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has offered a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to Maduro’s arrest or conviction.

In 2017, two nephews of Maduro’s wife Cilia Flores were sentenced to 18 years in prison by a federal court in New York City for trying to smuggle up to 800 kilograms of cocaine into the United States on a private jet; the two were later released by the United States in a prisoners’ exchange in 2022.

“We see these officials and the Maduro regime basically fleecing the Venezuelan people for their own gain,” the US official said. “You have people who can’t even afford a loaf of bread there and then you have the president of Venezuela jetting around in a high-class private jet.”

Poor economic conditions, food shortages and limited access to health care have pushed more than 7.7 million people to flee Venezuela, marking the largest displacement in the Western Hemisphere.

Venezuela says it arrested 6 foreigners allegedly involved in a plot to kill Maduro

The Associated Press

"Three Americans, two Spaniards and a Czech citizen were arrested Saturday after Venezuelan officials accused them of coming to the South American country to assassinate President Nicolas Maduro."

"The arrest of the American citizens included a member of the Navy, who Cabello identified as Wilbert Joseph Castañeda Gomez. Cabello said that Gomez was a navy seal who had served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Colombia."

"Cabello said the foreign citizens were part of a CIA-led plot to overthrow the Venezuelan government and kill several members of its leadership. In the television program, Cabello showed images of rifles that he said were confiscated from some of the plotters of the alleged plan."

"The U.S. State Department late Saturday confirmed the detention of a U.S. military member and said it was aware of “unconfirmed reports of two additional U.S. citizens detained in Venezuela.”

"Earlier this week, Spain's parliament recognized opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez as the winner of the election, angering Maduro allies who called on the Venezuelan government to suspend commercial and diplomatic relations with Spain."

I do not know in which exact place to place this, but here I leave it since all this is connected.

Spain, the United States and the Czech Republic demand from Nicolás Maduro information about their citizens detained and accused of 'terrorism' in Venezuela

Maduro also assured that the detainees "are convicted and confessed." "These terrorist tourists in their free time were going to plant bombs, they are coming to a new type of tourism, adventure tourism can be called, explosive tourism," the president said ironically.
The incident takes place at a time of bilateral tension, when the opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, who maintains that he was the winner of the elections, is in exile in Madrid.

“We have seized more than 400 rifles of various types that would have been used for terrorist acts in the country and that come from the US military.” Thus, during an international press conference, the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, explained to journalists the discovery of a vast network of mercenaries willing to attack the country's institutions. The weapons – Cabello explained – arrived in Venezuela disassembled in containers with harmless words like "dog food", and then were taken by groups linked to the extreme right, who had the task of reassembling them.

Three Americans, two Spaniards and a Czech citizen were detained on Saturday after being accused of plotting to assassinate President Nicolas Maduro.

The arrests were announced on state television by Diosdado Cabello, the nation's powerful interior minister. Cabello said the foreign nationals were part of a CIA-led plot to overthrow the Venezuelan government and assassinate several members of its leadership. On the TV show, Cabello showed images of rifles that he said had been confiscated from some of the plotters of the alleged scheme.

The arrest of the U.S. citizens included a member of the Navy, whom Cabello identified as Wilbert Joseph Castañeda Gomez. Cabello said Gomez was a Navy Seal who had served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Colombia. The Spanish embassy in Venezuela did not respond to a request for comment on the detentions of its citizens. A Venezuelan media outlet published a photo of Gomez in X.

Cabello commented on the Spaniards that: "Two Spanish citizens, José María Basoa Valdovinos and Andrés Martínez Adasme, were recently detained in Puerto Ayacucho in an irregular situation, taking photos," Cabello said at a press conference. "They have links with the National Intelligence Center of Spain. They may come out saying no, but they have links, there they are. These people, these gentlemen of Spanish origin are detained, they are giving a statement (...). The task they were coming to do in Venezuela is very clear there."

From Spain they flatly deny that statement: "The detainees are not from the CNI."

All about "Almost Venezuela", Erik Prince and the collection of funds against the Maduro regime
"Almost Venezuela" is a movement that has captured the attention of the world since its appearance on social networks on September 9th. This group, which promises the end of the Nicolás Maduro regime, has used videos and messages to announce an imminent change in Venezuela. Through his website and his accounts on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, a countdown has been promoted that will end on September 16 at 8:00 pm.

The movement called Ya Casi Venezuela, apparently led by former US military officer Erik Prince, began its fundraising campaign on September 16 at 8:00 p.m., at the conclusion of the countdown that kept the Venezuelan country on edge. Through videos and messages on social networks, Prince and his team assure that this is the best solution to put an end to the regime of Nicolás Maduro.

On the platforms of Ya Casi Venezuela, videos have been published that assure that change is inevitable and that "the most powerful allies in the world" are behind this initiative. It should be noted that this was not the announcement that many expected and that it had been fueled by the statements of journalist Jaime Bayly, which ensured a direct attack by Prince and Elon Musk against the Venezuelan regime.
