What are you listening to?

I like Claudio Monteverdi ‘s “Vespro della Beata Vergine’, Mozart’s “Requiem”, Vivaldi’s “Stabat Mater” and while reading: De Hartmann’s “Music of the Sayyids and the Dervishes”. De Hartmann being one of Gurdieff’s ‘pupils ’. Calming and wonderful music.
As a child of the sixties and seventies I Loved Dylan, Jimi Hendrix , Billie Holliday ,Jacques Brel ,Aznavour and many others.
In 2009 I found (thanks to Laura) “Women who love psychopath s” by Sandra Brown. I ordered her books, read them inside out, made a power point presentation about the 8 psychopath types and off I went to give lectures ,or so I dreamed. I wrote to different organizations for women , made phone calls . Nothing. Nobody interested… So I gave two lectures and paid all the costs myself.
The music ! While getting ready and people (mostly women) came in, there were 6 popular love songs (English, French and Dutch) I had chosen, most of them sung by women.. Three minutes a song in 45minutes, over and over again.
I started by saying: these songs, that some of you are singing along with, are sung by women while the lyrics are written by men. They are all about ‘I need you, you left me, you cheated on me BUT I will always love you’ . The lyrics are quite different when men sing love songs. They don’t say:’ I will follow you, I will change myself , I will dress like HER, I ‘ll shut up, please make love to me.’
HOW COME???,
And then came Sandra Brown’s answer about male AND female psychopaths. :)

Apparently I posted this in the wrong place on this forum...so I'm glad that there is a way to share this crazy song that has been on my mind the entire time I have been reading the WAVE series:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzDnhqGdKMk

Son you better be ready for love
On this glory day
This is your chance to believe
What I've got to say

Keep your eyes on the sky

Put a dollar in the kitty

Don't the moon look pretty

Tonight when I chase the dragonT
he water will change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind
I am holding the mystical sphere
It's direct from Lhasa
Where people are rolling in the snow
Far from the world we know

Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
It's perfection and grace
It's the smile on my face

Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water will change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold

Time out of mind

Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
It's perfection and grace
It's the smile on my face

Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water will change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind

IDK if these lyrics are totally appropriate, but it is STRANGE that I hear this [within] the entire time I'm reading the WAVE series!

Always liked this song. I think there is no 'time' at least as we ordinarily understand and perceive it (I think Gurdjieff referred to it as the "unique subjective" phenomenon) but at the same time it sometimes seems to me that any moment of time can feel like it contains all of eternity!

Nice one, Kenlee! I always liked Don Williams but don't remember hearing this one. Here's another classic on the same theme, Fairport Convention doing "Who Knows Where the Time Goes," sung by the late great Sandy Denny:

One of my favourites artist: Al Jarreau

One of his famous song, Take Five, from a German TV Broadcast in 1976...
What this singer is able to do with his voice is always letting me without voice, without bad game of word...

"Won’t you stop and take a little time out with me, just take five;
Stop your busy day and take the time out to see I’m alive.

Though I`m going out of my way,
Just so I can pass by each day,
Not a single word do we say,
It`s a pantomime and not a play

Still I know our eyes often meet,
I feel tingles down to my feet,
when you smile that’s much too discrete,
sends me on my way.

Wouldn’t it be better not to be so polite, you could offer a light;
Start a little conversation now, it’s alright, just take five, just take five.

[Improvisation]

Though I`m going out of my way,
Just so I can pass by each day,
Not a single word do we say,
It`s a pantomime and not a play

Still I know our eyes often meet,
I feel tingles down to my feet,
when you smile that’s much too discrete,
sends me on my way.

Wouldn’t it be better not to be so polite, you could offer a light;
Start a little conversation now, it’s alright, just take five, just take five"

Christopher Tin - Baba Yetu
I heard this song in the ‘Civilization 4’ computer game. I was deep in this game quite a long time. I wanted to create my civilization without wars and conquest, developing science and culture disregarding however virtual, instead of working on the self. The only things I got from the game were some interesting quotes of famous historical figures. What the game really shows is that in the world we live in, any civilization that develops without going through war and conquests is bound to fail. Over all I just wasted a lot of time.
I really like this song. Not so long ago found out that it is The lord’s Prayer on Swahili.

Baba yetu, Yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, Yetu amina!
Baba yetu Yetu uliye
Fu jina lako litukuzwe.
Utupe leo chakula chetu
Tunachohitaji utusamehe
Makosa yetu, hey!
Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe
Waliotukosea usitutie
Katika majaribu, lakini
Utuokoe, na yule, muovu e milele!
Ufalme wako ufike utakalo
Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni. (Amina)

its kinda heavy

"The medication, the guilt
The low self-esteem and the nervous sweat
The sleeping troubles, the cancers
The heart attacks, the early deaths
The end of justice, the radiant fires
The waste left behind in the all-cleansing flames
The poisonous fumes from our own funeral pyre
The pesticide that we inhale

We feed the machines with our blood, our sweat
The phantoms are here, I can hear them
Gathered in flocks they watch over our steps
Our intellect, it must not be awakened
With their broken promises, your broken backs
By the new world order oppressed
All who question their methods
All who question their reasons
All who question their ethics
Silenced by the crack of the whip of progress"

those swedes are on it

Loreena McKennitt - Bonny Portmore

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADmrBDCCHMo

O bonny Portmore, I am sorry to see
Such a woeful destruction of your ornament tree
For it stood on your shore for many's the long day
Till the long boats from Antrim came to float it away.

O bonny Portmore, you shine where you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before

All the Lords in Old England would not purchase Portmore.

All the birds in the forest they bitterly weep
Saying, "Where shall we shelter or where shall we sleep?"
For the Oak and the Ash, they are all cutten down
And the walls of bonny Portmore are all down to the ground.

O bonny Portmore, you shine where you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before
All the Lords of Old England would not purchase Portmore.
