Haggard - "Per Aspera Ad Astra"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3KbieUk9gw

The entire album ("Epur Si Muove") is about Galileo Galilei and his trials with the church inquisition. One of the best Symphonic metal albums in my opinion.

In that album, in the song "The Observer" they quote Galileo at the begining of the song:

"I do not feel obliged to believe
that the same God who has endowed us
with sense, reason and intellect
has intended us to forgo their use"

Julian Lage: Smile
Young virtuoso jams exquisitely on an oldie but goodie (volume needs to go way up as recording is very low)

Thanks for the link, Julian Lage has a real talent - up there with Metheny, Benson, McLaughlin etc.

Did you see this one featuring Lage's trio?

Boards of Canada: Orange Hexagon Sun
A rare one from the scenic synth/sample duo

YES! I love Boards of Canada. Interesting selection, too. I've never heard that one before. It sounds like it's an early study for their later track "Turquoise Hexagon Sun", which is my all-time favourite BOC song. Thanks for posting!

Agreed, he is something else, his breadth and playfullness is rare. His most recent musical partnerships are interesting to follow, not at least Aristides Rivas, thanks.

Another of my faves of his:

Yeah it does seem like it might be a study for 'turquoise...', another good one. They make very interesting soundscapes, had a longer pause from them as their music seemed to have an effect of sentimentality and dissociation (in my reflection), now they're back on the playlist making for a good backdrop to thinking.

the one that got me interested: Happy Cycling
