lostinself, thank you for posting the videos of Vaclavek. That music was beautiful. I ended up going to Amazon and purchasing a couple albums :)

It's funny, I rarely listen to my own music anymore. If I want to listen to music, I come to this thread and find something new. Everything posted here is so unique and eclectic. I love it!

Casper,

Cool, I've never seen a cello player like her. She sings and plays in some videos. Croatia looks beautiful.

Found this one I liked too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilcLoDrFtTg Are you sure Croatians aren't related to the Celts?

Anyone who wants to listen to pop but not of the mainstream kind should try Roisin Murphy, an Irish singer. What captivated me about her when I first found her was that she was this pop musician but authentic, genuinely human, intelligent, cool and independent. In general though her music tends to be experimental which is very evident in her latest record which was made almost entirely under her control, she licensed it after making it in fact.

Her 2007 high-fashion dance pop record "Overpowered" was pop of some of the highest quality in a decade and had the potential to make her a star but she didn't become a star and never managed to penetrate the US market, rather someone like Lady Gaga overtook it in 2009 by copying her style almost completely.

And that is just sad that a genuine artist and human being isn't able too succeed in this world but rather someone completely fake and manufactured like Lady Gaga is.

This is her *self-directed* video for "Evil Eyes" from her latest album

Glad you like it. :D

They belonged to the Illyrian Histri, Yapods Liburnii, Delmatae, Ardians etc., And were under the strong influence of Greek and Italic cultures and from the 4th century. Well, that is in relation to the Illyrian tribes that apparently lived here before the Slavic people Croats came. There is actually no historical consensus on the origin of Croats. Might be an interesting question for the Cs.

"The origin of the Croats before the great migration of the Slavs is uncertain. The modern Croats are undoubtedly a Slavic people, but the archaeological and other historic evidence on the migration of the Slavic settlers, the character of native population on present-day territory of Croatia, and their mutual relationship show diverse historical influences."

Anyway, rant over, wanted to make that clear, we shouldn't discuss it here anymore as this is a music topic.

To make up for it here is a wonderful composition from the Interstellar soundtrack by Hans Zimmer:

Just found this while on my lunch break, wow, pretty cool

I believe the drum/instrument he is playing is a called the hang drum, or at least his variation of it.

"Tales of Ro", the first video of SOLUS LOCUS Orchestra project.
Nadishana - pantam SpB
Loup Barrow - cristal baschet (crystal organ)
Manu Delago - hang
Thomas Bloch - ondes martenot

Ro, or Roe is a mythological island from the Kuzhebar folklore.
Recorded and filmed in Rennes, FR, 17.01.2015

Nadishana is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and sound designer from Siberia, who creates his own unique and innovative approach to world fusion music - the creative synthesis of different musical traditions of the world on the basis of contemporary technologies. He plays on more than 200 instruments of the world, including self-created ones. here's his site if anyone is interested http://nadishana.com/index.php/en/bio

After watching the new Jurassic Park trailer, the theme tune hit me with some big nostalgia.
