Continuing my 6 album odyssey with The Doors, this is a great song. Many know it from 80's vampire flick The Lost Boys, but it's actually largely put together by the awesome guitarist Robbie Krieger, who composed many of the band's best tunes. As an exploration of mid 60's normlessness and anomie, it stands apart as a great and pithy work. Harpsichord rocks, man!
I've got to say, listening to this band recently after an 18 year hiatus has been revelatory as an experience. Jazz drumming, blues guitar and Bach organ with a mad lyricist drunk on shamanism. What's not to like? We'll never see the likes of them again.
Whenever we have bad weather in West Wales I always think back to this Celtic rock tune, featuring exquisite guitar from Ritchie Blackmore. I feel for people bedevilled by evil weather. I know it's just a ride, but the ride can get pretty rough for some of us.
