What's the weather where you are?

Well its the start of summer here in Perth, Australia and we've had our coldest December day in more than 50 years. It got to 19 degrees Celsius which I know for some of you is probably beach weather

A news article on it here: http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/perth-weather-forecast-storm-drenching-for-city-southern-wa-20151205-glg86h.html
Summer storms across Perth and the southwest brought WA's coldest December day for more than 50 years.
The maximum reached just 19 degrees, making it the coolest December day since 1961.
On top of that, many places got more than the average monthly rainfall in one day.

In Montréal, it is still unseasonably warm, presently, it is 6 degrees Celsius and the forecast for the coming week is similar, all the way up to 10 degrees on some nights. No below zero predictions, and chances of rain but no snow. I often look at the sky and wonder if the Ice Age project is still ON?

For quick mental conversion from Celsius to Fahrenheit, we multiply x 2 and add 30 degrees, For example, now it is 6 (easy number) x 2 = (12 + 30 = 42) degrees Fahrenheit. Now this trick does not work below a certain point because if my memory still works adequately, at - 40 Minus, both Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same. Otherwise n the normal ranges, all works out with this quick trick, Thank you and all have a wonderful day wherever you may find yourself!

SO, we're being battered by another storm - and i'm sure it's been 1 week of storms for about 2 weeks (at most!) of relative calm - i.e. intermittent rain and 10mph or less winds.

This weeks is called Desmond - which was a famous comedy show on years ago, set in a barbers shop. So some are saying they can't take it seriously - and yet, this appears to be the straw that's breaking the Camels sodden back. I was beginning to wonder when we'd hit saturation point since the rain has been relentless.

I haven't seen the Sun, at all, for about 2 weeks. And i'm out for sunrise and i come home for sunset. Today there was a minor break but still couldn't actually see it.

Flash Flood in United Kingdom on December 04 2015 08:53 AM (UTC).
Situation Update No. 2 on December 05 2015 07:30 PM (UTC)
A major incident has been declared in Cumbria after some residents were forced to evacuate their homes in towns effectively cut off by flooding caused by Storm Desmond. Cumbria Police officers and mountain rescue teams are helping to take people from their homes in Keswick and Appleby to a centre in a local school, with around 50 homes thought to have been flooded. All of the roads surrounding Keswick have been closed, and some rivers in Cumbria have reached their highest ever recorded levels. The International Rescue Corps, which usually responds to natural disasters abroad, confirmed it has sent 14 members, five boats and two ambulances to help with any flood rescue work. Cumbria Police said motorists should only travel if it is "absolutely necessary" and Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Andy Towler said emergency services were taking a high number of flood-related calls, including a number of people needing to be rescued from vehicles stuck in flood water. The Met Office has warned that Cumbria is expected to see more than 150mm of rain on Saturday. Sky News Weather Producer Joanna Robinson said that while the strong winds and heavy rain from Desmond will clear by Sunday morning, flooding will remain a concern in Cumbria, the Scottish Borders and western Ireland. Severe flood warnings, which warn of a danger to life, are in place for more than 40 areas, along with 85 flood warnings. The Met Office has issued red warnings - its highest for severe weather - for areas of Scotland and the north west of England as road closures caused major disruption on transport networks. A number of amber warnings are in place in the north east of England and parts of Scotland, including Strathclyde, Tayside and Fife, Lothian and Borders. Gusts of 70-80mph are expected in parts of the Pennines later.

Here in Ohio we have had very dense fog all day and night with a high temp of 45 degrees (F). I have never drove in a fog so dense. I couldn't see more than ten feet in front of me. Very scary driving conditions!

Here, Mexico City, had been having "a lot" of days with fog, it had been interesting?, because I do not recall that regularity last year or other years. Airport had closed operations also and had suspended flights. The Mexico City International Airport is within the city. This couple of days had been colder due to a cold front. Petty much affecting the whole country.

Heavy thick fog in Macedonia. In almost all valleys and towns there is thick fog that makes feel even more colder.
Yesterday i went hiking to one peak in the mountains just few kilometers from my home and there it was total difference. Clear sky and sunshine. From above i can see all the fog down the valley in the town.It looked like a huge thick blanket over the valley. So a few hours on a sunshine and a fresh air in December is a good spent time.

Very strange weather for this time of year, there is a lot of fog with short sunny periods.
It's kind of too warm for December

Fog is pretty normal for San Francisco - seriously when is it not foggy - and this part of the California coast.
As the saying goes: the coldest winter I ever experienced was the summer I spent in San Francisco (or something like that)

I thought the weather in Northern California was pretty interesting this year. (weirdest year in my book)
Especially this summer I felt like I was on a roller coaster with one week cold and the next hot and repeat...(lots of mini heatwaves)
Now El Nino seems to have started in earnest with some decent rain at least once a week. We had some frost/freezing last week which was interesting when some cold air was coming down from Alaska.
On the upside, fire danger is way down.

I have my eye on Southern California for weather related problems because more than likely El Nino will dump more rain there once it gets going.

Yup, almost like spring here in Split, Dalmatia - but no fog here, so locals are enjoying serious exposures to vitamin D on Riva, together with numerous crew of USS Truman which arrived on Saturday and is leaving for Persian Gulf(?) tommorow - so some say, maybe to join Turks ans French already there for "training" or whatever or whomsoever. Bon voyage battleship: Svakog gosta tri dana dosta! (Something like: Had enough of any guest for thee days - hasta la vista baby!) :-[

P.S.

Certain individuals are still visiting beaches on regular bases for some dipping, since the temperature of Adriatic is about 18°C - not quite convinient for cold protocol purposes anyway...

Flooding last Monday and Tuesday, even today I believe in Portland, OR where I use to live. Sinkhole formed in the Gresham area. Remember there also being a flash flood in Portland on Oct. 31st this year. Here is a link to an article with a pic of the sinkhole:

http://registerguard.com/rg/news/local/33836578-75/downpour-unleashes-flooding-slides.html.csp

Here today where I live (about two hours south of Portland) it's been rather warm and rainy, about 50 degrees (F) currently. Flood watch was issued last Monday, in effect till today.

Massive storm hit Sydney today, has been compared to a category three cyclone. Much damage.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-16/tornado-hail-destructive-winds-hit-sydney/7032370

I live almost 200km south of there, and we got a heavy downpour with 14ml of rain in about half an hour. That's just over half an inch.

Its middle of December and here in Macedonia its still a nice weather. Just some little snow on th mountain picks. In valleys, its a sunshine and sometimes witha thick fog. Temperatures are high for this part of the year. Early in the morning the lowest can go to -3 C and during a day if its sunny day and there is not a fog it can go up to 7 C.

In The Netherlands records are being broken almost on a daily basis ATM.

December 2015 set to be warmest on record

December 17, 2015

spring-flowers-forsythia.jpg

Today is officiallly the warmest December 17 on record after a temperature of 15.3 degrees was recorded at the De Bilt weather station near Hilversum.

This is almost two degrees warmer than the previous record of 13.5 degrees, which was recorded in 1989. In addition, Thursday’s temperature has equaled the record set for the warmest December day since records began [i.e. 1901], the KNMI weather bureau said.

December 2015 is now likely to end up as the warmest December on record, weather forecasters say. The average temperature is currently 8.6 degrees, and that is 1.3 degrees warmer than the existing record.

Last week, the national statistics office CBS said the Dutch spring is starting earlier every year and climate change is likely to be the cause.

For example, the breeding season for song birds has shifted from mid-May in the 1980s to the beginning of May nowadays, the CBS said.

The average temperature in the Netherlands has risen 1.5 degrees over the previous 100 years and this year is expected to be the warmest on record, the CBS said.
