PUEBLO -
Pueblo's city crews are bracing for up to a foot of snow within the next few days. The streets department says it could be the most snow Pueblo has seen in years. They worked all afternoon on Friday to prepare their equipment because they'd rather be safe than sorry.

"It's probably the most significant snowfall in just a short duration that we've seen in 7 or 8 years here to the best of my knowledge," Earl Wilkinson, Pueblo's Public Works Director said.

It's the calm before the storm. Pueblo's streets department took advantage of Friday's warm weather to get ready.

"The magnitude of the storm we are expecting to see in Southern Utah is something we haven't seen in quite a long time," Miller said.

As you can see we're on the letter G so according the Met office, we've had 6 'proper' storms which have been named so far, Gertrudes being the 7th.

Storm 8 - Henry! I have to say that there were 'storms', prior to the winter naming sequence, which were stronger than some of these. And they didn't have names so haven't been counted, as such.
12z update still showing wind gusts well in excess of 70mph for parts of Scotland. As it stands, the now named storm ‪#‎Henry‬ looks to be a bit more powerful than storm ‪#‎Gertrude‬ especially for the Western Isles and the West coast of Scotland.

So Henry is due Monday/Tuesday. And Piers Corbyn predicts a very cold February.

Yesterday on the NW coast of England, Fylde, we had a brief hail shower then rain, with light snow in the higher parts, and today was bright in the morning - the only time it is at the moment - then clouded over and rain. Temp's 12C - 8C which is warm for the time of year and will probably drop again with the coming storm.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/2016-us-spring-forecast-march-snow-northeast-widespread-severe-weather-april/55085474

Punxsutawney Phil failed to see his shadow on Feb. 2, 2016, indicating an early start to spring for the United States. The decision marks only the 18th time Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog hasn't seen his shadow since the tradition began in 1887.

For the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, AccuWeather meteorologists are concerned for just the opposite, as cold air and the potential for snow will linger into the start of March. Elsewhere, springlike severe weather isn't predicted to become widespread until April.

Here in the Northern Rivers of NSW (Oz) it has been so hot for a couple of weeks now, mid 30's sap your energy when it's constant daily. The forecast for this evening onwards for the next few days is rain (doing so right now) and a drop in temperature to mid 20's, which will be a great relief.

Same here in Italy, a few weeks back we experienced low temperatures, and now 13-15 C° for at least a week, outside its sunny almost as during spring time, the worst thing is that since last November it rained very little(about the snow, only in my dreams), big rivers in such cities as Rome, Florence, Turin are drying out, I've read an article that says that this year the North part of the country received very little precipitation like nether before and if the same pattern will continue during the month of February then the farmers will have big troubles in the spring.

Yup, like that but just a little less intense and color was more red and not so pink. After i posted that post i saw this same article on Sott and it reminds me of what happened with the weather not just here but all over the world. Also from yesterday evening a cold wind and snow and temperature around zero in Macedonia. So maybe it was a sign for a bad weather.

We're experiencing mild weather, in the low 40's F in Northeastern Pennsylvania verses mounds of snow and ice covered roads.

Jan. 21, 2016 - A young sea lion recently surprised shoppers at a seaside store in the beach community of La Jolla, California.

The sneaky sea lion climbed 145 steps to get to The Cave Store just before closing time on Jan. 21, sales associate Amber Langlois told ABC News today. The Cave Store is a souvenir shop for Sunny Jim Sea Cave, a popular tourist attraction in San Diego.

The marine mammal's arrival was caught on the store surveillance video obtained ABC News.

"Our store manager was just sitting at the register when she saw the sea lion come up the stairs and start walking around the store," Langlois said. "She said he was very friendly. He didn't bark or bite, and he just wanted to play."

Three customers in the store at the time were "excited" by the surprise visit -- a first for the store that's been around since 1905, according to Langlois.

Rachelle Agosti, the store's manager, was able to find salmon in a fridge to lure the sea lion out and back into the ocean, Langlois said.

The La Jolla area is known for the significant population of seals that have made the beach their home.
