What's the weather where you are?

I've now experienced "sheets of rain" here in SE lower Michigan. It has been raining pretty steady for almost 2 hours, with a lot of thunder and spectacular lightning. I was out at the store when it started and was soaking wet even with the umbrella. The streets were not draining well and the curb lane of the road was getting pretty deep with water. Yikes! I can see how flooding comes on pretty suddenly. May need to get a boat, just in case. :boat:

In the link below you'll find a slideshow of some impressive downpours on the Adriatic coast in Rimini. Could be related to the tornadoes from Monday.

No rain here in Vegas. In fact, it goes from 106 today to 117 Sat. They are predicting 125-127 for Kingman Az. Excessive heat warnings going on this weekend.

In Northeast, Pa., the weather for June has been above average in temp. We went from highs in the 50's with above freezing during the night - right into - day time highs in the upper 80's - low 90's and muggy. Rain showers are often sudden, with heavy rain drops and flash flooding. Two days ago, a sudden rain storm produced dime size hail for about five minutes, turned into all rain for about another 20 minutes, then the Sun peeked through the clouds, raising the humidity while making the puddles appear like glass from the reflection of the rays.

Checking my small border garden, starter plants of cabbage, cauliflower and assorted zucchini look like moths had a field day, due to the hail bombardment. Broccoli stems are split and bent with the tomatoes & peppers not much better. I should have left everything in the nursery small containers and in my make shift cold frame with a Plexiglas top? Doesn't look like there will be much of a garden, this year?

A neighbor, down the street has 2 beautiful apple trees in his front yard. The apples have been developing nicely. Since the hail storm, the ground underneath the trees is littered with golf sized, perfectly formed apples. Breaks my heart, when I see something like that.

About two weeks ago, a neighbor across the street, spent part of the weekend, hanging and organizing 8 Petunia (assorted colors) hanging baskets on her front porch. After the hail storm, only thing left is the brown baskets.

Read that on the SOTT newsletter this morning and was shocked when I saw the city of Termoli in Italy written on the title as that is where my grandmother's sister lives, the closest relative I have left on my mother's side. Told my mom who wasn't even aware of what had happened and is about to call her. Seems like the major news channels in Italy didn't report this event yesterday.

You really get it Edboard10, they're still reporting about the heavy rains in Rimini/Riccione on the big, not a word on Termoli hurricanes! Oddly enough this town has occasionally been the spot of shots of heavy rain since I was a child. Don't know why, perhaps it's about its particular location on the seashore, but recently nearly all the Adriatic seashore has been shot with rain bombs and crazy weather.

Here at home I've just welcomed some rain too, a temperature drop (around 15 deg C. now) and pitch-black clouds.

Exactly, which is very odd considering that they did report the tornado in Emilia a couple of months ago but no word of this one.

Let's hope for some nice weather in August, as I may be spending a week or two there. :D

Yesterday night (Qc, Ca) we were granted with a heck of a shower. It rained so intensely that it woke me up and I had to close the window. Then this morning we woke up surrounded by a thick fog and couldn't see 50 m ahead of us.

FWIW, McCanney in his latest weekly show said the UV levels from the sun has gone quite high. Much higher than normal. And there's been an absence of discussion about it in the weather community. He did not however source this UV information.

I have noticed on sunny days, the sunshine seems to be doing "something" extra. A sharper intensity. I'm sensitive to those things and it's noticeable. I've taken to wearing long sleeve garments and a baseball cap for shielding. And I do not stay out in the sun for long. Additionally I use coconut oil as a sun block and it seems to work well.

Yesterday I was re-reading the latest C's transcript (5/28/2013) and this stood out:

A: You are in the transition and it will accelerate dramatically soon.

I am at peace with this...but there's no denying a tinge of apprehension.

There's been a lot of lightning strikes today in Finland. I woke up today when the rolling thunder sounds hit really close to our building  It seems that there might be a new Finnish record of lightning strikes per day, over 40 000. Also over 25 000 people has been without electricity today and heavy storms have fell trees.

In Florida it has been raining, like "sheets of rain" everyday, at least twice with lightening and thunder. It is hurricane season, so that is not out of the ordinary, and the lightening is exciting to look at, lighting the sky up at night in several places at once.

Yesterday it even hailed, which is unusual for Florida. I learned this from talking to some coworkers who have spent most of their lives in the state.

I've noticed this about the sunlight also...it has been giving me headaches if I am out in the sun for longer than 10 minutes or so.

I can believe this, because I got a very red sunburn on my KNEE the other day... It was the weirdest thing. I got burned in a few small spots like my knees, but not in the normal places like my ears, face, and the back of my neck and shoulders.

I also noticed that even a short exposure to sunlight lately has been causing some quick tanning - more than in past years.

Don't know if it's the sun, atmospheric changes, or a combination of both, but something is definitely up.

Here in Cape Town , South Africa the weather cannot seem to make up it's mind -> we have been rainy quite a lot with really cold mornings and quite warm afternoons , the last 2 days it was raining then hot then raining then hot, repeat... a little weird.

My friend was swearing at the "Obama 'Copter's" that were wasting fuel just flying over the Southern Peninsula here today (he hates them and he doesn't follow any of us) , 2 x Attack Helicopters and 1 x Chinook-type copter I cannot remember the name of. Quite weird and never before seen, sorry it's unrelated to the weather.

For the next week it should be sunny 16-17C. Hopefully the weather has calmed down (as they say for here) although looking at reports for overseas it seems things are very strange and horrible compared to here...

Sunshine and warming up, but we rather quickly seem to acquire a milky haze in the upper atmosphere. Still cool at nights, and not hot during the day YET, and rain forecast for Saturday/Sunday.

Beautiful sunsets expected thanks to US fires

Wednesday 26 June 2013

The KNMI weather centre is forecasting beautiful sunsets over the next few days, caused by minute smoke particles drifting across the Atlantic.

The particles come from forest fires in the US state of Colorado and have been blown 7,000 kilometres across the ocean.

In the meantime it's pretty cool for this time of year: 15°-17° C on average and mostly cloudy overcast all day with rather cold nights to follow; more like an early Autumn in stead of a late Spring, and no real Summertime in sight yet.
