What's the weather where you are?

Here in Spain extremely hot. So far already 3 people have died because of the weather and every day 2 people die from drowning, specially young people.

Nevada

Right now in Nevada, there is a huge cloud of smoke overcasted throughout the whole valley due to a fire that was ignited on Mount Charelston (30-1hr away from Las Vegas) from ONE bolt of lightning striking a tree. The fire is still in effect since I think around July first.

There have been many winds,
and so bright outside I can not even open my eyes all the way anymore, my eyes just might be becoming more sensitive, but for some reason I think the sun is getting hotter, bigger, and brighter because of me not being able to open my eyes fully anymore outside. I have lived here my whole life almost so I think I know somewhat what the normal weather conditions are. I am not sure if I am the only one that notices this and there is a high chance I might be wrong but I think its something to be looked into.

It is said in astronomy that the sun will eventually become a black dwarf which is a really cold asteroid like rock, but before it becomes that it will digress into many other stages and some of those stages require the sun to have explosions within the sun that will cause heat transfer to the surrounding environment.

Yes, it seems that the sun is "hotter" but that is only close to the surface of the earth and might be due to conduction of comet dust particles.

The sun isn't going to become a black dwarf because it is an electrical phenomenon. It might "go out" one day if someone turns off the current, though...

In NYC, or Central Park it is in the high 90's for 5 days or so. Very lethargic, have to stay indoors, although people are running to the beaches. I don't think I can go in that water that's just minutes from the Verrazano Bridge. I mean why bother eating good if I'm gonna douse myself in sewage and waste , although the beaches have been heralded as CLEAN...er. I don't think so. I wonder just what that means and how the PTB come by that announcement. I've been hosing down, and I'm grateful for that. Could be way worse. Winds are just around the corner probably, like Sandy of last year. Was it 9 months ago? Pretty stellar.

Montreal, Quebec,

Here for the last 2 days, sheets of rain have been falling all over plus heavy gust of wind's like I never saw here. Sun feel's hotter too...

After nearly 2 weeks of oppressive heat and humidity (temperature often in the upper 90's)...relief finally came, here in northern NJ. But something else unusual is going on.

My town is dotted with tall trees. And lately, many branches (huge ones) have broken off from what are otherwise healthy looking trees. And this in the absence of serious wind gusts. My neighbor two doors down had their porch nearly crushed by one massive limb. And recently two more neighbors had huge branches come down on their front lawn. I shudder to think what would've happened if kids were playing outside.

Dead tress I can understand, but these are healthy ones...with no rot. Now I'm wondering if something "electrical" is going on. And I've become very wary of walking underneath any trees at all.

It's official! The sweltering weather is a heatwave

Thursday 25 July 2013

The temperature at national weather centre De Bilt near Hilversum was over 25 degrees Celsius at 12 noon on Thursday, making the heatwave official.

To be classified as a heatwave, the temperature must be over 25 degrees Celsius for five consecutive days, with three of them over 30 degrees.

This is the first heatwave since 2006 when there were two, one in June and one in July.

The longest heatwave was in 1975. It began on July 29 and the weather remained over 25 degrees Celsius for 18 successive days, with six days over 30 degrees.

This one is set to continue until at least Sunday.

Parts of the country, particularly Limburg and Brabant, have been hit by thunderstorms with up to 22 millimetres of rain falling in a short period.

Here, in my region (Spain, Salamanca) the weather is similar to Autumn. Incredible. And in other parts of Spain it is too hot. Very strange! I hear that the weather in France is not good at all. So everyone who lives in the country of Liberté, Fraternité and bla bla bla, take care!

Yes Loreta, in my coin (NE of France) it's really hot (one month ago we still had our winter coat !) and for now, the storms seem to turn around us but for the others who are in, it's really big and hard, as I heard.

The worst we had was short sheets of rain ;)

North Alberta report: cold all day, sheets of rain in the evening with thunderstorms and hail. At one point we all went outside to see what kind of rain was making such sounds on the roof!

We just had an extreme hailstorm with hail the size of table tennis balls up to tennis ball size

Sufficient to say that it was american style type of hail (size and damage wise). Several widows arround the house are broken including that of the room I'm sitting in right now. Shattered glass everywhere in my room and in others too. The cars that were outside were damaged including the windows broken and the metal looking like cheese (I somehow saved my new car just a few seconds before it started). Our garden is ruined and the Plexiglas roofs and shutters look like swiss cheese. The hail even damaged the pflaster walls on the house.

We never experienced something like that and for germany to have such a hailstorm is quite not normal I guess. Many houses in my and the cities near by expirienced the same we did...

I've took video and pictures during the hailstorm wich I will upload as soon as I can. Thankfully no body was hurt in my family.

An german article about it including some pictures:

And here is a video from the city near us about 3-5 kilometer away from here:

Almost every second car on the street has either broken glass or broken lights and many bumps... We also heard of many dormer window's broke down. We have a hole in the awning. And our cat was outsidethe hole time!!! Just came inside soaking wet and anxious. But she is all right.

At least good to know that you are sound and safe and nobody got hurt!

These weather phenomenon's are kind of only extreme, no matter what is happening: extreme heat and then extreme and sudden storms.

Here in southern BC (until today) has seen a heatwave (high 30's c). We had a couple of days in the prior week at 40c or darned near. The house at night has been oppressive (+/- 92 F). Need rains (no sheets please) to cool things down and add moisture to forest fuels.
