What's the weather where you are?

Here in southern, central Michigan, a travel ban is now in effect because of sub-zero temps and 50 mph winds. If you are caught out driving after 10pm, you will be given a $400 ticket. The roads are a sheet of ice and emergency crews cannot keep up with all the accidents. Welcome to the ice age!

Well, if "emergency crews cannot keep up with all the accidents" I would guess it is for the better, then if someone has an emergency, they would ignore it anyway.

But this, nevertheless, sounds like the "police hour" in communist Poland(unrelated to weather, though), where after 10 pm everyone was supposed to be home, not on the street, or they would end up questioned at the police station, even for the night. All authoritarian ways are the same.

To me that doesn't sound like a police state motivation but rather another sign of the over cautious, cotton-wool era we live in.

Edit/Additional Thought: However after just writing the above it occurred to me that if we assume the distribution of intelligence and common sense of people is normal, by not allowing those who would normally have poor judgment and make bad decisions to make them, we keep a large percentage of dimwitted folk alive. It would suit many agendas to keep those with low intelligence and poor judgment safe by instituting such laws and fines.

To remain on topic and to answer the thread's question - the weather here is hot, humid and sunny. I do live in the tropics however so this is not considered unusual. I do wonder though what effect an ice age or mini-ice age at least would have on tropical areas of the world. I suspect there would be noticeable changes, but not as drastic perhaps as those experienced at high latitudes.

Interesting thought considering the fact that the PTB, consistently, over centuries, has sought out to kill those who are more intelligent and creative.

Anyway, I just put the following on Facebook:

I read this morning that we are under a flood watch. So, Joe went down to the river to check it out. The big building you see in this video is the Abbey Belleperche. The bridge and abbey are about 2 miles from us as the crow flies, and we are maybe 50 feet higher, so no danger. But everything beyond our park, which stands on an ancient riverbank, could be underwater if it rains a couple more days as is predicted.

I never thought I'd hear about Chicago being colder than the South Pole (http://www.sott.net/article/272566-Colder-weather-heads-for-US-as-ice-set-to-coat-Texas). Hope you guys stuck in the polar vortex are doing okay!

In Southern California, it's been very dry. My grandfather says this may be the first time in about 50 years that it hasn't rained in January. Despite that, it's still relatively cold here (coming from someone used to 90 F weather), with highs of up to 80 F and lows in the 50s, but windchill makes it feel colder. Two nights ago I saw a halo around the moon for the first time, and it's been cloudy since. Right now there are some buttermilk clouds, but it's unclear whether we'll get rain or not.

Also, for a while the local paper kept carrying pro-AGW pieces, but I haven't checked since because I was getting fed up with it. I guess people here will buy that when they're in the only consistently warm place in the country right now, other than Florida.

I'm from Toronto, Canada. It is soooo freaking cold here! Suppose to feel like -30 Celsius tonight. Also have windgusts of 50km/h. It has been snowing nonstop for a couple days now.. I have the heat on in our house but I still have goosebumps from the cold seeping in. I was in Chicago when that Polar Vortex happened and I think it was about -50 Fahrenheit.. the weather was crazy, never seen a storm like it. Here is a picture Nasa posted of the Polar Vortex: https://twitter.com/NASA/status/420265007796871168 It reminded me of that movie The Day After Tomorrow!

I'm from Kamchatka, Russia, there are usualy much snow ,and strong winds, but january was a verrry cold, i see in my informer -27 C(-35 perceived) (early morning).
I see here is the first time, but but there is no blizzards yet.

Around Noon here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, in the single digits and the wind is blowing so strong it sounds spooky. Looks like we're in for a polar blast for the next two days or so.

_http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/next-polar-plunge-could-be-win/22527373

The arctic air first plunged into the Upper Midwest, northern Plains and northern Rockies on Sunday and is expected to continue pressing to the Gulf and Atlantic coasts through Tuesday.

The magnitude of this cold blast will be enough to produce a far-reaching threat of frostbite, hypothermia, frozen pipes and water main breaks.

While highs will be held to the 30s southward to the I-10 corridor, the Midwest and Northeast are bracing for the harshest conditions.

Minneapolis, Chicago and other communities in the Upper Midwest will endure two consecutive days of subzero highs on Monday through Tuesday. Overnight lows will drop to 20 below zero or lower from North Dakota to the western suburbs of Chicago.

Grand Forks, N.D., will bottom out at around 30 below zero.

Across the interior Northeast, high temperatures will be held to the single digits and teens on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fargo, N.D., Des Moines, Iowa, Minneapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are on the list of cities that could rival their lowest temperatures of the season. For locations in the I-95 corridor of the Northeast, temperatures will stop short of breaching season lows but will still be painful to endure.

It is snowing in Florida and the governor of South Carolina has declared a state of emergency for what is expected there!

Re: Какая погода, где вы находитесь?

half of winter was a positive temperature air
is abnormally

Now in Kyiv minus 13 C at night minus 23 Celsius

The polar vortex is making it cold as ice here in central Ohio with below 0 F temperatures and even lower wind chills. It snowed almost continually over the weekend. The other night the wind was blowing so hard I was scared the roof would fly off. The temp was -15F when I went to work this morning. They've been closing or delaying school left and right for the last couple of weeks.

Ice ages suck!

It's below 20 degrees at the moment and will rise to mid-20s, and there's about two inches of snow in just north of Raleigh. The governor of North Carolina declared a state of emergency last night for the weather. I was kinda glad that I left when I did because in the evening, there were several accidents on the road where they were blocking traffic. It must have been a nightmare. A school bus rolled over on a slick road south of Asheville along with several other accidents.

What a winter here in South Japan... Today was 16°C I got burn on my face. I was sitting in my lunch break outside and fall to sleep, it was so nice. In the night we have 0°C or -2°C

You guys in the a northern hemisphere, I feel for you!! I cannot comprehend the temps you guys are experiencing, my gosh -26 degrees C!!

Here on the mid-north coast of NSW, it's been an average of 30degrees C, and we have not had rain in weeks. Everything is dry as, lawns are brown, water restrictions are in place for some areas. Being on the coast means we do get sea breezes to offset the heat, but nonetheless, some rain would be nice.
