What's the weather where you are?

AT THE SAME TIME that is going on, the quiescent sun and the earth's weakened magnetic field allow more cosmic radiation to reach the TROPOSPHERE where it forms cloud nuclei and increases precipitation from the increased evaporation from the oceans caused by the increasing heat within the earth caused by the slowing of rotation.

The thing is until first few years of 2000's we had relatively higher sun activity for the last 50-60 years. Maybe this was contributing to some warming : Higher sun activity -> stronger solar magnetic field --> less galactic cosmic rays reaching Earth's atmosphere --> seeding less low level clouds --> less reflection --> warming

But as we know, -thanks Sott- for the last 4-5 years this situation has changed and we have very low sun activity and many solar scientists are predicting even lower sun activity for the coming cycle. So : A weaker solar magnetic field -> more galactic cosmic rays reaching Earth's atmosphere -> seeding more low level clouds -> more reflection -> cooling

The global warmists were trying to debunk and ignore Svensmark's cosmic ray theory but according to a new experiment, done in 2012, this theory looks like to be proven or at least they can't ignore it anymore.

Here is the technical summary of Svensmark's experiment in pdf format :

From this link, you can see in the photo below the Aurora Borealis dipping down (possibly) close or over the 49th parallel, perhaps by early morning - 6:00 am EST.

I hope everyone concerned is doing well with the new ''polar vortex'' blasting it's coldness. It's really cold here.

We've beaten 4 low-temperature records yesterday. Brrrr.

Take care!

Cold is not enough ! It is COLD9

Today it is snowing all day, it was warm this few last months but today temperature suddenly dropped. It started snowing very early in the day and very much, and is continuing all day and will probably all night with strong cold wind. Was cleaning snow twice but with no avail because it keep s falling and snow shovel broke while cleaning last time. Power outage came about 20 times and will probably come and go again because those power lines are poorly mantained for at least last 20 years( but they keep rising energy prices). We have central heating but the pump that regulates the temperature does not do it of course when power is down so we have to estinguish fire before temperature rises, so father got very angry when he put it out then the power came back and when it came back he started fire again, and then again had to estinguish it when it came down seconds later. Also while trying to write this post power outage came about an hour ago, funny thing is I said it will probably come down again in next half hour when power came back. They expect that snow will keep falling tomorrow and expect temperatures of about -12 degrees celsius next week. Abrupt temperature drop. Rural areas around the city are poorly maintained while the mayor said he will eat snow when it arrives but it seems it will be other way around. Last year in one day and night snow caused traffic chaos but it seems this year it is not going to be any better or it seems it is going to be even worse.

What's your location, Corvinus? It helps if weather reports are linked to a general area.

Flood warnings for Toulouse today.

It's been raining here off and on for days and today, it rained all day. We are growing a lake on our front lawn. We MIGHT see the sun on Sunday, but then it is supposed to start raining again on Monday.

Looks like the rain that was going to UK is now spreading down here. Maybe the cold will follow, hard to say. So far, it's been pretty mild though cloudy, foggy and damp.

Rural area around capital Zagreb in Croatia. Now there are no outages anymore but it is normal thing here when there is particulary bad weather. There is around 20 cm of snow and in higher areas they expect up to 40 cm and that it will stop tomorrow and they say that at night in continental parts lowest temperatures will range from -10 to -20 celsius from next week, and expect new snow in coming days. They say it is because of cyclone Gordon. Last 30 days temperatures broke historical precedent and were above average but today they fell below average for this time of year.

Finally some cold came in central Russia. If we will get lower than -36C (-33F) as it is a slight possibility in two weeks, it will be the coldest temp. I ever experienced :) Then January 2006 record will be beaten for my location

In mid-eastern Poland (Warsaw) the winter never came until quite recently.

Usually (though this isn't a cast iron rule as of last few years) the temperture gets below zero in late October, the winter comes early-to-mid November and lasts until February- early march, peaking around December, January.

This time, the temperature (C) roamed around -1,-2 at night to +8 during the day all the way until mid January, no snow whatsoever, or even much rain. This is a pretty big anomaly.

Now, when the winter is supposed to recede, the freeze grips to -15 and the snow blankets the area. If the winter stays on it's regular duration, there might be no spring, not to mention the hot summer.

In Belgrade, Serbia, we are heaving the snow (more or less very light) this evening, and the temperature is around +1 - 0 Celsius. That is the second snow in this winter, the first one melted after few hours somewhere in the November. The meteorologists predicts decrease of temperature in the next few days and it should be around around -3 at the night to +3 or 4 during the day. The interesting fact is that is much higher than it is normal for this period of the year. It would be more normal if it is -10 to -15 than this.

Also since the new year we are having beautiful, almost spring weather, temperatures was going up to the +18 Celsius. Before the new year it was around +5 to +13; 14. So we had autumn and spring so far, but no winter so far, and winters could be very harsh here (in normal weather)

Interesting is that there is much less wind this winter. The rain was falling couple of times but very little, it's more like dry season.

I did notice something strange with the smog and the aerosols in the air, there is much more smog than before. There was heavy (so heavy that I didn't saw something like that before) smog even on days when there is very little traffic going on, like new year and orthodox Christmas (and that is 7 days of holiday in Serbia, which means that everything is quieter than usual, much less traffic . . .). We used to know that there will be smog on evenings on the monday or tuesday, but not on the evening on saturday and sunday, now, you really cant tell when it will fell.

Also the Sun light is wrong for this time of the year. It is to bright, too visible. I noticed that also for example in the october when the Sun was usually yellow and orange and very low on the horizon, this october it was silver (no beautiful autumn colors)

The last summer also was strange. We had maybe only two weeks of really hot weather (and hot weather is normal here), in the 2012. we had for example 4 or 5 weeks of hot weather, in the 2011. it was two months . . . So the summer was more like autumn or spring, but now the winter also looks more like autumn or spring. Which is not bad, but it is very unusual and not normal.

Here in southern, central Michigan, a travel ban is now in effect because of sub-zero temps and 50 mph winds. If you are caught out driving after 10pm, you will be given a $400 ticket. The roads are a sheet of ice and emergency crews cannot keep up with all the accidents. Welcome to the ice age!

Here in the Seattle area of Washington state it has been really sunny and in the 40's...at night it has been getting a bit frosty

Astonishing--not the weather--the travel ban. I grew up in Michigan in the 50s and 60s and it was COLD like this at times, almost every winter--although most of the winter was in the 20s and 30s F, and a travel ban was never instituted. The very thought of it would have been incomprehensible at the time.
People were thought to have the common sense to stay in when it was that bad, and the idea that your personal freedom to choose to be stupid was actually being controlled by the law,
would have be challenged back then I think. This really reveals how conditioned we have become to govt. and law enforcement controlling our every move.
