What's the weather where you are?

Here in Northern Italy most of the time is cloudy and raining, the temperature aren't high, but still i would say that the temperatures for this time of the year are lower than previous years, anyhow these six month have brought very much weird and in some places extreme wheather, recently I've read some article on SOTT where i founded out that in the middle of June it snowed in netherland, turkey, cold temperatures in Estonia Finland, and rains almost everywhere.I may be wrong but it seems that this year indeed the earth changes have reached a new level,i mean much more serious and threatening and most of the people are beginning to pay attention to this.I would speculate now,but i think at least here in north of Italy the summer will be colder than usual and it may apply to other countries also.Don't know why but i have a bad feeling about the next winter.

Very interesting. Don't know if you are on VK (vKontakte - Russian social network), but if you do, recently I joined two meteorological groups that gather videos, photos and data about extreme weather in post Soviet Union countries and around the world.

_http://vk.com/clubmeteo
There is a lot of info there, and they update it all the time.

Thanks a lot, Keit. This is exactly what I've been searching for lately: a resource which reports about our local (Eurasian) weather phenomena. The photos and videos are really impressive. I've noticed that people report egg-sized hail stones and tornadoes every day in different parts of the post Soviet territory. This is amazing.

Very weird weather indeed. In Moscow it is the coldest June for 50 years. Average temperature during the night 6-9 C, midday 12-16 C. Almost all recent days started as sunny, but later on it suddenly begins to rain heavily (but shortly - tropical style) accompanied by thunderstorms, hail stones.. Last week it even snowed in Tverskaya region (just 100 km to the northwest).

More mixed weather here on the northern tablelands, NSW, Aust. Yesterday began with a large frost of -8 degrees C, but by the middle of the day it was so warm, all you needed was a shirt. Today provided warm northerly winds and thunderstorms with light hail but strong wind gusts. Forecast for next couple of days? Low temps, a few showers, falling as snow above 900 metres.

Not quite four seasons in a day, but close. Even those who aren't usually aware of the strange weather are starting to take notice.

Noticing Picture of the day on Sott I recalled a photo i saw on net also from Dubrovnik which i liked the most:

Some commenter doubts is it possible with prolonged exposition of camera merge multiple strikes in one photo like this - that maybe all lightning bolts didn't strike simultaneously but in few seconds...

Yesterday was Seven Sleepers day (_https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Sleepers_Day, _https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Sleepers). This is one of the traditional farmers' weather lore remaining in Germany today. The weather on that day is supposed to determine the average weather of the next seven weeks. This is not too accurate but the weather seen around this day is most probably also the weather for the next about seven weeks. The weather was very dry with few rain. Taking this we will have quite warm to hot summer weather, maybe a drought, maybe forest fires, maybe bad harvest, maybe asked to save water and still too few rain. Till last October there was only one night with about 10 liter per square meter. Extreme weather of the dry sort.

The main train station in Cologne (Koeln Hauptbahnhof) Germany has been closed after it was hit by lightning twice yesterday 9 pm. There was no train traffic possible in the region for a couple of hours. There were major train delays not only around the Cologne region, but also north in the heavily populated Ruhr and Duesseldorf region of Germany. Between 8 pm and 9 pm fell 25 liter rain per square meter in Essen. In 40 kilometer around Cologne there were 400 lightnings.

Since all the post Soviet Union countries have been having a weird weather, here's what I stumbled upon as a reminder, that apparently there were indeed tornadoes near Moscow in the past! The image is dated 16.06.1904. Almost exactly 110 years ago!

Storm and hails this afternoon ! MeteoFrance gives an alert for the regions in the axis East - South-West for today and tomorrow.

As always in case of strong rainfall, water has invited itself in my garage. It's quiet now, just some rumbling sound of thunder away...

Friday May 23, 2014 -

Mother Nature put on a spectacular light show in the Big Apple Friday night as massive thunderstorms descended upon the city.

Social media was abuzz with videos and photographs taken of the weather event, including some showing lightning striking the spire of the new One World Trade Center.

Two bolts of lightning strike One World Trade Center.

Arthur coming: Lightning hits One World Trade Center in NY thunderstorm

Wednesday July 2, 2014 -

Lightning strikes One World Trade Center in Manhattan as the sun sets behind the city after a summer storm in New York July 2, 2014.

A powerful thunderstorm rolled through New York on Wednesday, providing the residents with scary, but spectacular light show as hurricane Arthur is expected to touch down.

Massive lightning bolts cut apart the skies above Manhattan, with one striking the top of One World Trade Center.

After it passed, people flocked to the streets to take pictures of the beautiful sunset, which was colored in orange and purple.

It was pretty crazy around Ann Arbor,MI a few days back. Heard there were some wicked storms brewing in Chicago and they were moving eastward. When it rolled through our neck of the woods at like 2:30 am lightning was covering the sky with some decent wind and rain activity. I've never really seen so much energy in the sky. It just kept going for like an hour, non stop lightning, at least 1 blast per sec. might have even been more on some occasions. We got some decent cracks of thunder, but i can only imagine how deafening it might have been for someone centered under the core of the storm. a coworker thought there might have even been a tornado a few cities over. Lost power for 5 hours, and others have had it out for longer (according to fellow coworkers) Just got done watching the June installment of the Sott weather compilation. Seems like its picking up a lil pace. Lots of tornado activity in that one. Between snow coming to some parts of the world and all this hail activity (making it look like winter in the summer) it makes me wonder if its a little foreshadowing of a wicked winter season to come.

Sunny and hot (30-31Celsius) today and tomorrow in Southern Saskatchewan, with temperatures dipping to mid-20s for next two weeks.
Last week SE Sask/SW Manitoba experienced torrential rainfalls resulting in washed-out roads, rail lines, bridges, and isolated communities.
Just trying to imagine if all this rain was snow.
Ice age in the offing?

Here @ 18° 20' N, 64° 55' W, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands we have been experiencing the effects of the Sahara Dust. So while the temps may say 90º it feels like 100+. The dust is keeping the rain away & people are reporting the lack of energy. Our trees & plants are also being affected by the dust/heat. We are thinking cool. The only relief seems to come from soaking in the ocean.

So yesterday in NW England it rained - even if it was warm (17C) - for 24 hours.
Whilst in London it was a beautifully clear and sunny day.
And in Glasgow they had a 'mini-tornado' (like a wind vortex or something). _http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/video-twister-caught-camera-sweeping-3811241

Comment from the Glasgow article: "a Gorbals witnesses said the mini tornado had caused hundreds of pounds worth of improvements to the area."

Today, it's like a cartoon sky with fluffy white clouds and a baby blue sky 16C with a very cool breeze.

I'm just glad it stopped raining because i always take note of the local streams and rivers and i don't think they could handle much more rain without a break..

hahaha brilliant  im from Edinburgh, I love a bit of British humour when things get tough. Remember John Smeaton?

Mod's note: fixed quote tag

Here in the puget sound region of Washington state it has been pretty mild and warm. A few days ago it was really hot here, in fact July 1st we broke the record for hottest July 1st ever. It was 94 degrees. Typically it doesn't get that hot here.
