Not working now, trying to bring up my 2 kids. Before, did unqualified jobs such as waitressing/bartending, receptionist, phone harassor (AKA phone surveyor :o))

Hey! That's Work! Very important work!
I am not working at a job, but occasionally read people's astrology charts (used to make a living at it)

Presently I am a cook, trained in Graphic Arts, and also muti-media and web design!
As of this week I was a peer leader for an corp. organization to help build a system called "Care Team", Meaning-> making sure all individuals/ people / clients / members are treated with the out most care, respect, and as equals and with dignity from entering into an organization(s) until they depart and that its consistent!. No matter what ethnicity or social background, spirituality and even religious beliefs.

A little late, too; for work dollars - when younger, taught skiing, finishing antiques (Quebec circa). Older; natural sciences, fire, avalanches, bush work. In the now; health and safety.

Graphic Designer until more or less 3 years ago. Now I am supervisor in a store (family business selling professional beauty products), its been quite difficult selling products that go against of what I think about beauty, mostly when clients asking captious questions, but I have been learning many things regarding employees, how to be more humanistic? . But Its quite a stressing job because it depends on sales. And I am pretty much against on sales techniques (manipulation, coerción …using emotions, etc…) I refrain myself doing it, constantly observing my self to not fall into, and have been trying into re-educate? employees about those infamous techniques. But in order to not feel THAT bad...I remaind my self that I am resposible of 5 families incomes.

Unfortunately I know all too well about retail sales in the beauty industry Mabar. About 9 years ago I worked for one of the worlds largest cosmetic companies. It took a old lady giving me her bus money for a jar of face cream to get me to realise that sales was not for me.

I now run my own mobile business specialising in wedding hair and makeup. I also work two days a week in admin and accounts at a local bowling club (lawn bowls not ten pin). It helps pay the rent and keeps the other side of the brain working.

My most important (and demanding) job of all is raising my two children ages six and seven. No Bridezilla could ever compete with the demands and tantrums of my two......but I love them dearly.

I do a bit of arranging for brass band using Sibelius but I've not written anything of my own yet. My arrangements have been quite popular though.

Hi EC,

I'd be very interested in hearing one (or more) of your brass arrangements. Are you talking about writing horn parts for songs or more like arranging songs for brass ensembles? Either way, if you have anything that you would want to share, maybe post on the Music Board, I'd love to hear it. Horn parts are often an integral part of my songs and I like hearing how others go about it, as well.

Hi Mocachapeau

I'd be very happy to share my brass arrangements with you. I'm not sure how I can do that on the cass forum, but if the mods are able to put us in touch off board (if that's allowed) I can email you midi files, sibelius files etc. Who knows, maybe we can collaborate on something? I'm not sure how to take this further with respect to our getting in touch, but I'll wait for guidance.

Cheers

Hi Eunan, you could post a link to where your files are hosted on line on the music forum, if you'd like. That seems to be the most common way that such things are shared here.

Thanks Anart. Unfortunately they're not hosted anywhere, they're just on my PC. I'd also need to have discussions with Mocachapeau as to what file formats he can access, as at the moment mine are mostly Sibelius music scores which can only be read by Sibelius software. Is there any way on the forum that files can be exchanged between one member and another?

Cheers

Does Sibelius come with a "Save as Audiofile or mp3" option? If so you could save as an mp3 and then upload it to youtube as a video. Just add a picture to it so there's something in the video and then I can listen to the music. I did the same kind of thing here:

I used Windows Movie Maker but only added one picture to the slide show - kind of lazy, but it was only for the music.

I'm sort of a McGuyver, not really expert in any field, but enjoy learning about mechanical/electrical/computer fields.

I used to be in IT admin/support, certified in Novell and Microsoft. It was alright but got sick of the corporate politics, promotions by nepotism, and weak benefits. I was hoping to move into the networking side as I like binary math and the logic, but with the economy those jobs are hard to come by then and even harder now.
I keep up to date as it is a hobby and have helped many neighbors/friends with their computer/network issues.

Nowadays, I am an electrician doing mostly outdoors utility-like work, freezing/sweating my butt off, :scared:, LOL. I enjoy the troubleshooting jobs a lot, especially dealing with motor controls/relay logic which I have an intuition for. I also enjoy auto mechanics and have a knack for that too. I would say that these jobs fulfill me more than IT because I am more visual-spacial than mathematical/logical (which I thought I was).

Vocation-wise, a generalist: I was initially apprenticed in, and worked in the aerospace engineering industry performing stress analysis, then in the shipping, and nuclear power engineering industries as an internal consultant involved in computerized stress analysis, before finally ending up in Sales during this period of my working life. From there I moved into business managing a branch organization within a large French IT services company.

After that, I ran my own Coaching, Consultancy and Training organizations for a number of years, using an eclectic mix of psychotherapy techniques, specializing in Breakthrough Coaching for middle managers (stressed?). This was the most satisfying period of my working life: the most in tune with who ‘I am‘.

I then got hit in one of the earlier economic downturns and ended up making myself redundant. My last vocational work was as a senior business administrator in an entrepreneurial department of a Higher Education establishment, before negotiating early retirement (two year’s early).

I am now looking forward to facilitating EE with retired people, on a small group basis.

THanks Bud, I will read it

Hey Mocachapeau

I'm going to start a thread on our brass arrangements discussion in the music board, instead of continuing here. I'll hopefully see you over there. Cheers.

Fortunately I don't have kids!!... I think worker mothers should be payed tripled at home and at work... I am in this work because I decided that way, I choose to be here, ...now I think that it is more a commitment, if I am able to changes things for the better of the employees, and I am doing it or trying, I think it is the right place, It is not for the money either, even when it is a family business, of curse there are some times that I get frustrated inside the job and outside, November and this December I need to not wear out myself in non value issues?? ... it is quite chaotic this months, working at down town center of Mexico city is understandable. That is why it is called Down Town Histeric Center of Mexico City :D

PS added this PS: about the money, just to clarify, it is not that I have money to burn, on the contrary its been quite difficult addapting mysef to precarious budget?... due to other circumnstances I cannot gain much.
