What are you listening to?

This is a song from a Catalan group named Els Pets (The Farts) but song by Brad Jones. This song is cute and light. A batzegada means a strong emotion.

I feel it across my face
Like a flurry of kisses
That I don't deserve
But still they won't deny me
With my sunglasses on
No one can see my eyes
As they follow every girl
With swaying hips who dares walk by me
I'm in love
With anyone brave enough to meet my gaze and hold it
It's because
It isn't the same
I'm out of the game
Yet still I sing out loud
The song that got stuck, I don't know how
Following me around the town
I know it sounds dumb but I don't care, it doesn't matter
I feel fine; the melody keeps you in my mind
I don't really care if I waste my time
I carry a song and I like it
I drink the rain in July
While everyone runs and hides
Hands up for umbrellas
Let them run; I'm staying right here til the sun shines
With the rain in my eye
I think that I see someone
Or is it a tomcat laughing at me from his place beneath the shop signs?
It's okay
I see in your eyes the kind of look that gives ideas
I'm afraid
I'll open my mouth
Slowly and "a batzegades"
Right out loud
The song that got stuck, I don't know how
Following me around the town
I know it sounds dumb, but I don't care, it doesn't matter
I feel fine; the melody keeps you in my mind
I don't really care if I waste my time
I carry a song and I like it
Ooohh, right out loud
The song that got stuck, I don't know how
Following me around the town
I know it sounds dumb, but I don't care, it doesn't matter
I feel fine; the melody keeps you in my mind
I don't really care if I waste my time
I carry a song and I like it

Whenever I check this topic it always is uplifting and amazing. It makes me wish we could all get together and share music in person.

I have been wondering what the Cs meant in the November 21, 2015 session when they said:

(L) Alright. We're getting silly, so we'll say goodnight.

(Galatea) Getting silly is fun!

A: Relax now and enjoy the show. Goodbye.

I am thinking what do you mean "Relax" with all the crazy stuff happening how can we "Relax".

Well, there are plenty of examples here I think such as:

Loreta's Dom la nena and Catalan group named Els Pets (The Farts) but song by Brad Jones

anorma's hilariously mirthful "happy making old austrian Music"

987baz's freedom song by Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky [Abbey Road Live Session] (fantastic meaning and powerful voice and background music)

c.a.'s youthful passions remembrance of a Bob Seeger song Night moves

sToRmR1dR's blues classic by Joe Cocker- Unchain my heart

itellsya's shamanic soul festival songs (my description only) never have seen such an interesting collection (the board playing was unbelievable !) and the Hero song in the kitchen was icing on the cake.

And these are just some from the current page so I just wanted to say thanks everyone for sharing. I'm not sure what to add right now but I'll just throw one in the mix so don't take it seriously.

From the past going full Cyrkle, a geeky, light weight group from the 60's with not a lot of serious things on their mind (unlike some or us today).

Listening to "War" by Bob Marley

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loFDn94oZJ0

"War"

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.

That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.

That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola,
In Mozambique,
South Africa
Sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed -
Well, everywhere is war -
Me say war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south -
War - war -
Rumours of war.
And until that day,
The African continent
Will not know peace,
We Africans will fight - we find it necessary -
And we know we shall win
As we are confident
In the victory

Of good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah! [fadeout]

So much truth in that song, isn't just Africa is it? The battle/turmoil progresses. Hang in there.

Session 16 October 1994:
A: Changes will follow turmoil be patient.
Q: (L) That is inexpressibly depressing. Do you understand?
A: Why? Change will follow.

Indeed, that's what I thought as well, as I was listening to it - much truth that applies not only to Africa but the current global situation...

Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky [Abbey Road Live Session]

"Iron Sky"

We are proud individuals living for the city,
But the flames couldn't go much higher.
We find Gods and religions to,
To paint us with salvation.
But no one,
No nobody,
Can give you the power,

To rise over love,
And over hate,
Through this iron sky,
That's fast becoming our minds.
Over fear and into freedom.

Oh, that's life
Left dripping down the walls
Of a dream that cannot breathe
In this harsh reality
Mass confusion spoon fed to the blind
Serves now to define our cold society

From which we'll rise over love,
Over hate,
Through this iron sky,
That's fast becoming our minds.
Over fear and into freedom.

You just got to hold on!
You just got to hold on!

Ohhh ohhhh oh oh

[Sample from "The Great Dictator" (1940) movie - Charlie Chaplin:]
(To those who can hear me, I say, do not despair.
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed,
The bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress.
The hate of men will pass, and dictators die,
And the power they took from the people will return to the people.
And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men -
Machine men with machine minds and machine hearts!
You are not machines, you are not cattle, you are men!
You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful,
To make this life a wonderful adventure
Let us use that power!
Let us all unite!)

And we'll rise over love,
And over hate,
Through this iron sky,
That's fast becoming our minds
Over fear,
Into freedom.
Into freedom!

From which we'll rise over love,
And over hate,
Through this iron sky,
That's fast becoming our minds
Over fear,
Into freedom
Freedom

From which we'll rise over love,
And over hate,
Through this iron sky,
That's fast becoming our minds.
Over fear and into freedom.
Freedom!

Oh!
Rain on me!
Rain on me!
Rain on me!

987baz I was thinking how much "this iron sky" reminds me of what the Cs describe as the "frequency fence". This is not the usual place to make this comment but I will place it here because you have shared the song here.

So my idea of the "Iron Sky" is:

Session 23 October 2004
Q: (Galahad) What is the major problem facing the group at the moment?
A: Stalling frequency waves.
Q: What can we do to jump-start the group?
A: Requires will and knowledge. You share, they find will if it is there to find.
Q: (A) What kind of knowledge do we need to share?
A: That their lack of ability to see and do is due to deliberate stalling.
Q: (Galahad) Can you elaborate?
A: They are in a frequency fence being stored for later food.
Q: (A) Are we also in a fence? Or, are we different?
A: Quite.
Q: We are quite different?
A: Yes.
Q: What makes us different?
A: Seeing and doing.

May we all escape this darned "frequency fence".

Don't be a free lunch. See and do! ;D

Thanks Goyacobol for reminding "The cyrkles".

Loreta thanks, did not know the Catalan band.

"RED SKY" (CIELO ROJO). A CLASSIC OF MEXICAN FOLKLORE. SING: LILA DOWNS.

Alone
Without your love
I am walking
I am walking
And I do not know what to do
Neither heaven answer me when
I ask for you, my good.

While I am asleep
I feel that the two close together,
We go to a blue sky
But when awake the sky is red.
I miss you.

Let me look for you
and if I find you
and if I find you
Come back again
Forget the past
I no longer remember of that yesterday
Forget the past
I no longer remember of that yesterday.

I had a similar feeling about this song too. Also, the passion, frustration and, dare I say it, determination in his voice while singing "freedom" resonates with me, hopefully people listening will get the message :cool2:

This is a rousing song a real anthem. Saying that i saw him live at a concert in Leeds and he sings like that in the others and realty does have an ability to lose himself in the music. He is the words and it strikes me as a guy who will write from the heart and about life experiences I love his music. Like the idea about the frequency fence never Would of linked that.

On Sunday, I had a late sleep in, half dreamy but played some Pandora to relax in the morning.

A song came up that I was surprised about. Nine inch Nails, I recalled were a quite bit hard, which I wasn't really into. But this song felt so relevant to these times, I didn't even expect it to be NIN!

As I like to find similar music to songs that appeal to me, I put "A warm Place" into pandora and another NIN song came up, Ironically it is called Leaving Hope- which is very relevant to the latest session and Behind the Headlines show:

Both from what I read are pretty dark songs, but they feel so real and warm to me. I suppose the analogy of being the only one eyed man in the blind world applies: The only emotional/objective people in a world of subjectivity would find "negative" things as nourishing- as they are real. This world is not changing for the better- if you want to feel good, listen to pop music manufactured by the psychopaths, lol!

I've yet to find a song, that can better describe the signs of the times then this song...

One of the best musicians in germany "Reinhard Mey", already knew years ago where our civilisation is headed.

A musical poet if there ever was one.
You can hardly describe the mad world we live better, then Reinhard does in his poeting stile of writing music. A literal song about the signs of the times, which so few seem to notice. An astounding song and musician...

The song is called "Das Narrenschiff" which means as much as "The Ship of the Fools":

The lyrics translated:

The Ship of the Fools

Quicksilver is falling [it's getting cold], the signs indicate a storm
and only stupid giggling and nagging from the command tower.
And a dull grinding sound grudges out of the engine.
Rolling and pounding and heavy seas
the band is playing „Humbatäterä“
and mad laughter is heard out of the latrine.
The cargo is rotten, the papers are fake
the bilge pumps leak and the water-tight compartments are blocked,
the hatches are wide open and all alarm bells are ringing!
The waves are crashing head-high into the loading bay
and St Elms fires are [seen] flicking on the derrick [bay deck]
And yet nobody on board is able to read [understand] the signs!

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

On the horizon, the weather-lightnings are signaling the signs of the times:
Malice, greed and vanity.

On the bridge, blunderer and simpletons bustle.
In the murky [waters] the sharp-toothed shark is fishing,
bringing his prey onto dry land, to the sand bank,
while avoiding taxes at the well-known treasure island.
The others pimps and money launderers are already waiting:
Brothel-King and gambling baron
in the bright light, nobody has to sneak around in the dark [anymore].
In the banana republic, where even the president
has lost all shame and knows no scruples
and adorn himself with the tax thief in his entourage.

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

People have become sleek, have gotten used [and arranged] to it.
All the high ideals are wrecked.
And the great rebel, who was formally never tired of fighting,
mutates into a servile, poisonous gnome
and sings his songs lamblike for the wicked old man in rome.
It's true: Times are changing!
Formerly wild young people are now submissive, devout, tame
bought, anesthetized and unable to fly:
Swap velvet paws in exchange for their once so sharp claws.
And vain old men present themselves cheeky,
with ever more far too young women on the upper deck
who warm up their flabby limbs and pre-chew their food.

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

They are arming against the enemy, but the enemy has long been here:
He has his hand on your throat, he is right behind you.

Under the protection of paragraphs he shuffles the marked cards.
And everyone can see it, but all look away
and the dark-man emerges from his hiding-place
and deals in plain view right in front of the kindergarten!
The lookout shouts from the highest mast: "End times in sight!"
but they are petrified and don't hear him:

They move like lemmings in submissive hordes.
It is, as if all [people] have lost their minds,
committed themselves to the downfall and decay
and a ghost light [friar's lantern] has become their beacon
.

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

I used to play, many years ago. I've heard Segovia live, and several others. But here's one of the finest classical guitarist I've ever come across. Not very well known, but stupendous technique and depth of feeling. The sound can touch the soul. I hope you will enjoy this:
