Wanted to share this video, there's something very relaxing from how John Butler plays the guitar and sings :D

Very nice! Thank you for sharing, Marina9!

I used to play, many years ago. I've heard Segovia live, and several others. But here's one of the finest classical guitarist I've ever come across. Not very well known, but stupendous technique and depth of feeling. The sound really touches the soul. I hope you will enjoy this:

This one is very lovely too! I forgot how I love classical guitar. Thank you, sitting.

Hey sitting,

Thanks for sharing your find of Enno Voorhorst playing classical guitar so outstandingly and exemplary.
Never heard of him before but quite a revelation. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on IMO.

FWIW.

Thanks very much for sharing sitting, he's amazing!

Very good song of Reinhard Mey, Pashalis; the terrible present said with a melody reminiscent of a naive German song of s xvi. Disturbing mixture.

It's unfortunate that Reinhard Meys songs are not more widely known in the english speaking world. To get the full scope and sheer deepness of his texts in combination with his music, you have to understand the german language well and he is a master of using the german language, often in very complex, profound, deep and poetic ways.

The song above is just one of many from him. He is musical rebel who tries to wake people up for decades now.

A further example of his work, which, as far as I know, has never been translated into english either:

In 2006 he published his album "I can!", in which the song "Alles o.k. in Guantánamo Bay" which means "Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay" was included:

The lyrics translated:

Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

We say black is black and white is white
and if we [just] say so, then that's enough for proof.
We know the evil ones are evil, we are the good ones:
So don't ask questions, we are asking the questions here!
So go behind the cordon, please do not stop,
[just continue to] go along, there's nothing to see here!
Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

We've made a commendable camp here
and every [Nazi camp] model-comparison is totally inappropriate.
A camp in which justice and law prevails:
The law/justice is always where our flag flies.
We make the rules here and we are the law:
So spare us your whiny sympathetic drivel!
Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

We are the good ones and the others are the evil ones:
It's just that simple with human rights.
What do we care if you are peeing and yelping on us:
Take care of your own business!
Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

We have a good barbed wire fence:
You should not look over it [what's behind it], you only need to trust us:
Even if you can not see what is happening behind it,
with the person that kneels there blindfolded.
We caught him, we are the worlds-judge:
No matter whether the global public likes it or not,
because everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

We are the good ones and the others are the evil ones:
It's just that simple with human rights.
What do we care if you are peeing and yelping on us:
Take care of your own business!
Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

In the land of the brave and home country of the free,
we do not wait for your advice, do not tamper with us!
No discussion, no Geneva Convention,
this here, is God's own country:
We do it our way in Guantánamo Bay.
Everything's OK. in Guantánamo Bay

So now please the prisoners-choir:
Khobé, khobé Guantánamo Bay.
And now the old europe:
Tout est parfait à Guantánamo Bay.
Yes! And now quietly, only the axis of evil please: [nothing is sung/heard, then Reinhard says] Hmm... nice!
in Guantánamo Bay.
All rogue states together please:
Koullu tamam fi Guantánamo Bay.
Hmm, fine. And again, the yes-sayers from the German Bundestag:
Yes, yes, yes, yes ok in Guantánamo Bay.

And another very good and important song from Reinhard Mey, for everyone to keep firmly in mind. That one was never translated into english either. It is called "Sei wachsam" which means as much as "be alert/aware/watchful". He starts the song at 02:40 and before that, tells the audience why it is so important for him to stay alert/aware, because the PTB are going to destroy the future and he will do everything in his power to make sure that his own children will not get sucked into that black hole as well:

The lyrics translated:

Be alert

A torn election poster on the wet grass,
they smirk at me, the old soggy phrases.
The faces of old man overinflated youthful:
Who praise the Middle Ages as the progress for you/us.
And I think to myself, every step to this promised bliss,
is a step toward endless yesterday [past], a step backwards.

How they urge the people prudence and sacrifice,
they call them people, but mean subservient.
All the gluing and fawning [smarm]is no longer bearable,
when you learn to translate what they are really saying:
The Minister takes the Bishop's arm whispering:
You hold them stupid - I hold them poor!

Be alert,
Memorize those words very well!

Be alert,
don't fall into their trap! Mind you, to use your freedom
because freedom wears off, if you do not use it!

Be alert,
Remember those faces very well!
Be alert,
Keep your courage.
Be alert
and be on your guard!

You turn on the television, they whine for good old values.
Their good old values are almost always the wrong ones.
And those who pedal so pertly in the talkshow,
are the ones who trample on all values with their feet:
The media-mogul and the newspaper-czar,
the worst tups as gardeners, how wonderful!
They call for the crucifix, for customs and decency,
but their message is nothing but ass and tits.
Barbarization, stultification, violence are their commandments,
their gods are the numbers of prints and ratings.
They bend the truth and twist the law/justice:
So many good old values, really [???], that makes me really sick!

Be alert,
Memorize those words very well!

Be alert,
don't fall into their trap! Mind you, to use your freedom
because freedom wears off, if you do not use it!

Be alert,
Remember those faces very well!
Be alert,
Keep your courage.
Be alert
and be on your guard!

A huge trade cycle for Pied Pipers,
for freeloaders and bribe recipients,

an age for self-servers and wheeler-dealers:
Hypocrisy, feigning and trading for posts [status].
And they are all highly respected and highly recognized,
and after the worst [of those people] roads and airfields are named.
They capture the chicken thief, the arms traffickers are left alone,
no pipe of pot, but a poison gas factory you can buy.
Poisen the air, contaminate the lands with radiation, create the greates damage with impunity,
but don't get caught in sit-ins!
The Green-guy will get caught, but the environmental-pig enjoys credid,
and the police always have to beat up the wrong people.

Be alert,
Memorize those words very well!

Be alert,
don't fall into their trap! Mind you, to use your freedom
because freedom wears off, if you do not use it!

Be alert,
Remember those faces very well!
Be alert,
Keep your courage.
Be alert
and be on your guard!

We have a constitution that is supposed to guarantee the rule of law.
But how can it help [us] when they manipulate it at a whim and wish:
Those agitators who always jabber about a peace mission
and already are busily rattling under the table with the sword.

The old sparkle in their eyes at the moment of the great Tattoo [Zapfenstreich]:
About face, forward march in lockstep, a song and [back] home to the [Nazi] Reich.
„Never again should violence come out of this country!“
„We need to show our stands [protect values], we can/should not stand aside!“
„Purely humanitarian of course and without bloodshed!“
„Combat missions are now [all of a sudden] no longer quite so ruled out.“
They drag us ever deeper in, piece by piece,
And since this morning at five o'clock, we are shooting back again!

Be alert,
Memorize those words very well!

Be alert,
don't fall into their trap! Mind you, to use your freedom
because freedom wears off, if you do not use it!

Be alert,
Remember those faces very well!
Be alert,
Keep your courage.
Be alert
and be on your guard!

I long for people who do not deceive me,
for people that do not, on every official speech, lie so completely.
And spare me [from] the phony honest [people]:
The phony honest people, the truly dangerous ones!
I long for a piece of truthfulness,
after a bit of backbone in this warped era.

But [if you] tell the truth you will soon have nothing to laugh anymore:
They will ruin you, execute and silenced you,
blackmail, bribe and try to buy you.

If you tell the truth, keep the engine [of your car] running outside,
then they say it [the truth] loud and fast, since the saying teaches:
Those who speak the truth, need a damn fast horse.

Be alert,
Memorize those words very well!

Be alert,
don't fall into their trap! Mind you, to use your freedom
because freedom wears off, if you do not use it!

Be alert,
Remember those faces very well!
Be alert,
Keep your courage.
Be alert
and be on your guard!

I've yet to find a song, that can better describe the signs of the times then this song...

One of the best musicians in germany "Reinhard Mey", already knew years ago where our civilisation is headed.

A musical poet if there ever was one.
You can hardly describe the mad world we live better, then Reinhard does in his poeting stile of writing music. A literal song about the signs of the times, which so few seem to notice. An astounding song and musician...

The song is called "Das Narrenschiff" which means as much as "The Ship of the Fools":

The lyrics translated:

The Ship of the Fools

Quicksilver is falling [it's getting cold], the signs indicate a storm
and only stupid giggling and nagging from the command tower.
And a dull grinding sound grudges out of the engine.
Rolling and pounding and heavy seas
the band is playing „Humbatäterä“
and mad laughter is heard out of the latrine.
The cargo is rotten, the papers are fake
the bilge pumps leak and the water-tight compartments are blocked,
the hatches are wide open and all alarm bells are ringing!
The waves are crashing head-high into the loading bay
and St Elms fires are [seen] flicking on the derrick [bay deck]
And yet nobody on board is able to read [understand] the signs!

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

On the horizon, the weather-lightnings are signaling the signs of the times:
Malice, greed and vanity.

On the bridge, blunderer and simpletons bustle.
In the murky [waters] the sharp-toothed shark is fishing,
bringing his prey onto dry land, to the sand bank,
while avoiding taxes at the well-known treasure island.
The others pimps and money launderers are already waiting:
Brothel-King and gambling baron
in the bright light, nobody has to sneak around in the dark [anymore].
In the banana republic, where even the president
has lost all shame and knows no scruples
and adorn himself with the tax thief in his entourage.

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

People have become sleek, have gotten used [and arranged] to it.
All the high ideals are wrecked.
And the great rebel, who was formally never tired of fighting,
mutates into a servile, poisonous gnome
and sings his songs lamblike for the wicked old man in rome.
It's true: Times are changing!
Formerly wild young people are now submissive, devout, tame
bought, anesthetized and unable to fly:
Swap velvet paws in exchange for their once so sharp claws.
And vain old men present themselves cheeky,
with ever more far too young women on the upper deck
who warm up their flabby limbs and pre-chew their food.

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!

They are arming against the enemy, but the enemy has long been here:
He has his hand on your throat, he is right behind you.

Under the protection of paragraphs he shuffles the marked cards.
And everyone can see it, but all look away
and the dark-man emerges from his hiding-place
and deals in plain view right in front of the kindergarten!
The lookout shouts from the highest mast: "End times in sight!"
but they are petrified and don't hear him:

They move like lemmings in submissive hordes.
It is, as if all [people] have lost their minds,
committed themselves to the downfall and decay
and a ghost light [friar's lantern] has become their beacon
.

The helmsman lies, the captain is drunk
and the machinist is sunk into dull lethargy,
the crew are just a bunch of perjured scoundrels,
the radio operator is too cowardly to send an SOS:
Kobolds for [leading] the fools' ship;
Full steam ahead and headed for the reef!
Really truthful lirics and nice voice.Thank-you very much to share it Pashalis. And i would like to share with you another beautiful voice.

Alone
Without your love
I am walking
I am walking
And I do not know what to do
Neither heaven answer me when
I ask for you, my good.

While I am asleep
I feel that the two close together,
We go to a blue sky
But when awake the sky is red.
I miss you.

Let me look for you
and if I find you
and if I find you
Come back again
Forget the past
I no longer remember of that yesterday
Forget the past
I no longer remember of that yesterday.

caballero reyes,

Thanks for introducing me to Lila Downs. She has such a mellow and expressive voice. And I like the Latin flavor of the music too.
