I see this periodically with people who are suffering from either ideological possession, or who simply want to nestle down into the blankets and stay asleep...
-While at the same time, they fight to maintain the delusion that they are open-minded, critical thinkers who are absolutely not suffering from ideological possession and who are not simply trying to nestle down into the blankets to stay asleep, (such ugly features simply cannot be accurate descriptors of themselves! -That would mean the ego is in charge along with a bunch of trash programming. No sir..!)
I admit I do tend to err towards a positive prospect and give benefit of doubt rather than finding solace in grim visions plus who am I to be right but what’s that got to do with being ‘possessed’?
Can you see in the above mbww the gap between what Woodsman suggested to you and how you have responded? Do you understand the concept of Ideological Possession? Because when one admits to a tendency ('an inclination towards a particular characteristic or type of behaviour') to 'err' one is acknowledging a possibility of being consistently in error i.e. a definition of
too err is to make a mistake. I know you think that your erring is a positive but can you see at all that you are actually revealing to yourself a potential
error in your critical thinking capacity by making the repeated baseline assumption of
positive prospects and
benefit of doubt?
You've got blocks and fortifications built into place, and you're pretending that you're something you are not.
Have you ever considered you are pretending
to your self to be something you are not?
The biggest flaw however is that such an explanation of the world based on psychological traits focuses on perceptions and fails to provide meaningful causal explanation, the WHY. Evil psychopaths devoid of any soul take the prime seat in a world devoid of any purpose? Just so that "us", the good humans can have something to fight against, a raison d'être? - in other words evil becomes immanent...But why, cui bono? For their own delight? For polarization purposes? Doing the devil's bid? Consciousness awakening?...Enlightenment through suffering? - Doesn't have to be any of that, if you ask me.
And then how do you factor in the divine providence and guidance (pronoia), the "angels" and the "us from the future" intuition...? Would you have your children put through suffering and ordeals so they become better adults, or learn better?
A causal explanation is that this place is a school and we attend to learn all its lessons. So its not a world devoid of purpose; far from it - its highly purposeful. Its purpose is to provide all means possible at this level of consciousness of learning which if it is to be completed requires suffering as part of the process of balanced learning - by definition. Because suffering exists and suffering offers lessons. One does not learn by learning only what comforts and pleases the ego. A balanced universe allows all things to exist within its reach, including all the worst things imaginable. These are also but names of God as the Sufis suggested. When one goes to school we are not allowed to dictate what is and isn't on the curriculum. We may not like a certain subject; it may be very hard, even painful. But perhaps that's where the most valuable learning lies, so we have to go through it as well. The fun bit, the easy bit, the bit that seems to come naturally to us - oh yes we learn from that as well - but if that's all we learn, are we really learning or are we hiding and finding comfort in that which merely pleases? We think not.
That's probably where you and the members here divide. That's fine. That's your free will choice. But it is also ours. For many here have learned the hard way the more you suppress, avoid, delude the self with wishful/magical thinking (e.g. love and light etc), the more the imbalance and distorting of reality manifests in ones life, and tends to reveal itself in the liminal spaces between a rigid one dimensional mind set and a perpetually balancing universe (where light and darkness have equal right to exist).
.
My thinking however is that such visions of dominance and control are deeply flawed simply by the negative perception lens they subject reality to.
No one here thinks in terms of outcomes of dominance. We all recognize that attempts at control are all eventually destined to fail. But we do recognize that 'negative' forces, which by their inherent nature are incapable of comprehending that they are merely an aspect of the light that manifests all, believe they can dominate and do seek perpetual control (i.e. the extinction of the light that made them). This is the subtle difference between what you think we think and what we actually do. This dominance seeking by the dark can rise dramatically for a period and give all the appearance of managing to wrestle control away from the light - and that darkness can appear to last for enough time to produced increased suffering - but everything is merely a lesson and the sun will rise once more and balance will be restored - and lessons will have been learned. But no amount of thinking that this can't happen because of love and light not allowing it to be so will ever bare scrutiny against the fullness of reality itself. So good luck to you with trying to maintain that illusion over the next while. Its going to take an awful lot of self-delusional mental gymnastics to sustain.
