Ascorbic acid (vitamin C)

A few days ago I saw a link for dosage of vitamin C, for different diseases. Now I can not find the link. The link was to research from 1981.

Someone can tell me the link?

For any supplements, I think it is better to buy from a known brand or dealer rather than generics. Known companies have more incentive to police fraud in their products, as they will be held responsible in legal products liability for problems in the products they sell. Generics can just close up shop and disappear.

I'm not done researching yet, this is my top pick at the moment for L-ascorbic acid.
$66.33, free US shipping
NutriBiotic, Ascorbic Acid, 100% Pure Vitamin C, Crystalline Powder, 5 lbs (2.26 kg)

By the way, FOTCM can set up a referral link to iherb just like amazonsmile.

I ordered Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C from LivOn. I have been making my own but I wanted to have some premade stuff on hand in case electricity was off and I needed some. I can say that it does give my husband and I a huge dose of energy almost right away after taking it. That leads me to believe it is working. It also had good reviews on Amazon. Only draw back is price. Sure does taste better than the stuff I have been making.

the reason I mention this is, it's very difficult to get powdered forms of pretty much anything through customs here in oz.

I would like some advice if possible...

I recently ordered a large package of ascorbic acid... I thought it would be a good idea to stock up and would be able to provide for family and friends as well. However (silly me :umm:) I didn't think to check where it was being sent from. When it arrived a few days ago it was in Chinese packaging, distributed from a Chinese pharmaceutical company. It may cost a lot to send back to Germany, and it says its 99% pure....

My question is, shall I send it back? or shall I keep it and risk contamination from heavy metals etc?

I ordered 25kg for 150 EURO, off of the German Amazon site, Here is the link :

I think that 150 euro for 25 kg is a suspiciously cheap...Really i dunno what you may doing with it. But what is "99% pure" ? Does seller mentioned something about any additives? You can contact with seller and ask him information and documents about product.
I want to order Now Foods, Sodium Ascorbate Powder, 3 lbs (1361 g) for 54$ and
Now Foods, Sunflower Liquid Lecithin, 16 fl oz (473 ml) for 10$.The Now Foods company checked and i trust it. Their products are high-quality and relatively low prices

Hi,
I bought this one in Spain. It's 100% Vit C. It's not very expensive, but the label warns that it is made in a facility that handles: milk, egg, soya and products thereof. Made in UK. I don't Know if anyone has found a better option to buy in Spain. :)

I just received an ultrasonic cleaner today.

_http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quality-110V-Professional-Watch-Glasses-Mini-Professional-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-New-/271512126463?

$29 USD, free surface shipping.

It looks like Soviet-era technology, grey and ugly, but it appears to work. -I cleaned some dirty tweezers and a pair of pliers in it. They came out sparkling, and I could see flecks of hardened dirt come floating up during the process. However, I remember getting my glasses repaired a year ago and the old and tarnished frames were dipped into their super-expensive ultrasonic bath and came out golden and perfect after only a couple of minutes. I don't know if mine is capable of that; they were probably using a special cleaning fluid or something. Regular water in mine didn't do anything for the tarnished copper penny I tried in it.

But for the purposes of mixing Liposomal Vitamin C, I suspect it will do the job just fine. Now just waiting for the ingredients to arrive.

*****EDIT:

I tried some money again (a couple of tarnished Canadian loonies) adding a bit of vinegar to the water. That did the trick. Nice and shiny. :)

I buy supplements form iherb.com... We have a track record together. Two years ago or so, I used to get my supplements from them without any problems. They shipped stuff first to Germany and since it is a EU country, Spain didn't posed any problems. At one point, they changed my shipping options as an experiment, supposedly to make it faster. For this purpose, they provided a track number and shipment came from Switzerland, a non EU country... It was a nightmare.

Spanish customs opened my package and found progesterone cream among other things. So they charged me money to have the pharmacovigiliance department check my package. After two months or so, pharmacovigilance said there was no way they were going to allow the package into Spain: not the progesterone cream nor any other innocuous supplement in the box. After other two months of back and forth with iherb.com, they finally refunded me the amount of money they promised in case something like this would happen.

I actually ended up telling them that if they didn't refund me, I was going to stop recommending their services to people. I stopped ordering from them, but recently began again because it seems it is the only website that ships to Spain. I recently found that they gave me like $25 gift certificates as an "apology", so I thought that was nice.

All this story just to clarify that yes, you can order from iherb.com. But you can't order DHEA or progesterone cream or any other product on the black list in Spain. And now, if the package is by any chance rejected in the Spanish customs, you will not get refunded.

In any case, shipment to Spain from iherb.com is done meticulously so packages stand a better chance of not being open: you can only buy up to 60 euros (?) or so and you cannot order more than 3-4 kg at a time. The specifications are on their website.

Since the Ebola outbreak, I've been making steady orders from them. The restrictions are such, that you can only buy one jar of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C crystals: 3 pounds weight - over 1 kg) and you are done... You have to make any separate purchases on another shipment.

Iherb.com is relatively cheap and although you buy stuff without tracking number, stuff usually arrives. The new restrictions placed by iherb.com to Spanish customers makes it very likely that your package will arrive fine and without being opened.

FWIW! :)
