E-cigarettes: research - experiments - ideas

May I ask if you really wish to have a Nautilus tank?

I don’t know, the above sounds like you don’t think this a good system … I was just following 987baz’s lead. I am fairly new to vaping and as yet not entirely convinced it fits my needs, but I am happy to experiment further.

At the moment I have a Vaporesso Luxe with 1.2 ohm pods, but I don’t particularly like the flattish mouthpiece of the pods - I’d rather have a round mouthpiece, a bit similar to a real cig. And I wouldn’t mind being able to do my own coils - eventually, and if I stick to vaping. So far I haven’t found a mix that is at the same time pleasant and not causing me to cough (I use commercial juice 50/50 PG/VG, but I have ordered stuff to customise it in any way I want).

Other than that, I am not attached to any brand or pod system, apart from the fact that Oz is a small market with limited range.

These are available in various lengths and diameters. They are called drip tips.

Good, in this case you can use ss 316l wire. Dirt cheep. I will write a tutorial in the not too distant future.

It should be possible to make a nic salt according to your needs. I guess that malic acid could be suitable for you.

Unfortunately there is no solution yet. What I have been thinking about is that there are small rebuildable atomizers that could be dissembled and sent in parts. Just as an idea..

To me that sounds like it is available from the manufacturer, but not in Oz ….?

correct, those are the only ones availabe atm, but I spoke to the guy at pharmacyworld and he said they will get their order from them in a few weeks and will email as soonm as they do. I vape .8ohm at 16w atm so using a .7ohm should be close, but I would like to try the 1.2. From what he told me, the tank has a better restriction on it, giving a tighter draw than the Luxe and better air flow. And I agree that the luxe mouth piece is a bit off putting.

It also says on the aspire website that the 3s tank is compatible with all Nautilus series coils link

It's pretty much the only option we have here atm for MTL tanks, that should change with time, and having the mod alredy will mean it's just a matter of getting a new tank when they become available. Apparently the innokin tanks are great but we don't have access to them yet .. but they are on the TGA approved list, so they will eventually stock them ..

here's a link to the TGA approved list link

edit: added TGA list

FWIW I also have an Aspire pocketx (same company as the Nautilus) and it comes with .6coils in it and it's about the same as the Luxe with a 1.2 in it IMO.. it has a driptip mouth piece like the Nautilus tank so I assume that makes a difference!? It's what is called a AIO (all in one) so it looks like a mod and tank but it's not, and there are no settings you can adjust, i like it, but it's very limited, and meant for new vapers and technophobes mainly 🤣

Apparently the innokin tanks are great

What is great are the Innokin batteries, namely Apex (22mm) and EZ tube(25 mm). Excellent for rebuildable atomizers. Light weight, 3 clicks on/off, adjustable voltage/wattage, USB C charging. The EZ has 90 mm length and is a bit of a prick but still better than many others.

The tanks are not that great from my perspective. They have bottom airflow from which they will leak one day. The drip tip is 2-3 mm too short. Built in coil has 0.8 ohm. However, in Oz...

Oh that’s right it was the easy tube that was recommended … maybe flshgordon? I will keep an eye out for new additions, the guys at the pharmacy said he will let me know when they get new stock as it arrives that might suit my needs .. but yeah for now I think the nautilus and the armour s are the best I can do .. thanks for the info brokenenglish

The draw on the Nautilus tank is MUCH tighter than the Luxe, in fact than all of the Vaporesso units. Very much feels like a smoke. I bought on just the other day for this very reason

It may be the pod because the one that is in the bottle has been perfectly stable. I have the original bottle that they sent with the vaporesso, which is the Wyte. Natural flavors, Nicotine, vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol.

Have never used a vaporizer, yet I'm looking at this method for Nicotine delivery.

Today, while busy looking at propylene Glycol (use in so many types of processes), had noticed a FAQ from a big manufacture of PG. Generally, the big manufactures cater to the stream of industries below or to the side as other manufactures have different uses, and then down stream until it hits the commercial markets, hence a vaporizing medium. I don't know what these mediums say about it, yet it seems odd to me to make use of it in a respiratory product.

So, a large manufacture's FAQ had this mention of their PG, so just posting it here - the do not support its use:

Making DIY coils using a coil winder

I will leave the introduction to YouTube. This video here shows it quite well:

For coils around 1 ohm that should be suitable for most of us we will need a rather thin wire near 0.2 mm which translates to 30 or 32 gauge in American denomination. I will make some tests and post the results at a later date.

The wire I will use is made of stainless steel 316l and looks like this:

This can be a relatively mild reaction to pg which may or may not go away with time. If it persists you better try vg.
It seemed like some teeth were getting a little numb, along with the stuffiness and throat constriction, so I stopped. The vape store refunded the extra pods I had and they couldn't take back the liquid and just tossed it. I said I was sensitive to the PG.

They have some 80VG/20PG liquids at this shop. Would that help or would it be better to get a hold of 100% VG and dilute with distilled water? Also not sure if symptoms were the metal in the coils because they are the Nickel Chromium Aluminum ones, although I don't think I was even near burning out the coil.

They can actually give me store credit for the vaporizer so I could get a different one with more power for the higher VG. They have Smok brand Novo 4, Nord 4 and Nord 5. The Novo 5 is 40w max adjustable but only comes in .7 pods. The Nord 4 is 80w adjustable with a better range of pods 0.16 up to 1.2, while the Nord 5 has only 0.16 and 0.23.
