6.3-magnitude quake hits South Sandwich Islands region -- USGS

BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 jolted South Sandwich Islands region at 22:53 local time on Saturday (0053 GMT on Sunday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 60.783 degrees south latitude and 25.3145 degrees west longitude.

BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 jolted 66 km SW of Sand Point, Alaska at 08:03 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 41.26 km, was initially determined to be at 54.8674 degrees north latitude and 161.1436 degrees west longitude.

HONG KONG, July 31 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 jolted 37 km ENE of Hinatuan, Philippines at 0606 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 46.19 km, was initially determined to be at 8.5493 degrees north latitude and 126.6298 degrees east longitude.
