Earthquakes around the world

WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT AUGUST 29_2024

Moderate levels of seismic activity occurred in the past 24 hours. After the earthquake M6.1 in El Salvador, an aftershock of magnitude 4.2 was registered. Civil Protection authorities of El Salvador have reported no casualties or material damage.

As can be seen in the following map, seismic activity of M4 or higher in Central America began on August 21 with two M4.8 earthquakes, the energy moved towards Panama and an M5.8 earthquake occurred. Subsequently, an M6.1 earthquake shook El Salvador, which was also felt in Guatemala.

chrome_screenshot_29 ago. 2024 7_48_06 p. m. CST.png

According to USGS, the earthquake could have been felt by more than 15.8 million people in 4 countries: Guatemala (8.1 million), El Salvador (6.3 million), Honduras (1.4 million) and Nicaragua (9,820)

Hopefully the energy has been mostly released in El Salvador, otherwise we could expect a shock in southeastern Mexico (Chiapas, Oaxaca and including Guerrero and Michoacan), which in the worst case could be M6+ low.

● M 4.3 - south of Panama/ 29 21:05:41 (UTC)/10.0 km depth/ USGS

So far this has been the result of the SSGEOS seismic forecast.
Stronger seismic activity can occur around the 25th. A cluster of critical lunar geometry on 27-28 August can result in larger seismic activity around the 30th.

SSGEOS proposed a 70% probability for earthquakes of M6.0 and up to M6.9, which has been fulfilled with the earthquakes in Tonga and El Salvador that occurred without human and material damage.

In the past 24 hours, there were 1,003 quakes of magnitudes up to 5.4:

●3 quakes above magnitude 5
●30 quakes between magnitude 4 and 5
●109 quakes between magnitude 3 and 4
●210 quakes between magnitude 2 and 3

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 was registered in Oaxaca, Mexico, which was later adjusted to M4.9. The earthquake was felt in other states such as Puebla, Veracruz and Chiapas and there are no reports of damage. Let's hope it is not a precursor earthquake. On the other hand, an M5.1 earthquake occurred 296 km SW of Arenas, Panama in the Pacific Ocean. The following map shows the location of the seismic activity >M4.5 of the last days. As can be seen the fulcrum point was the M6.1 earthquake in El Salvador and it has shaken on both sides. A stronger response can still be expected in southern Mexico.

So far this has been the result of the lunar and planetary geometries that SSGEOS forecasts. Four M6+ earthquakes have occurred in the analysis period.

SSGEOS updated the seismic forecast for the next few days.
updated 4 September 2024, 06:06 UTC
A convergence of three planetary conjunctions on 5 September can result in stronger seismic activity, potentially peaking around 6-7 September.
Stronger seismic activity above average can occur in the first two weeks of September.

September is the month of earthquakes in Mexico.

A seismic cluster of M5+ has been presented mainly in the western Pacific Ocean. M4+ and M5+ activity has occurred in different parts of Indonesia. It is worth remembering that after the M6.2 earthquake in Papua New Guinea, a significant response is expected in the region both towards Indonesia and towards the Coral Sea and the Tazman Sea regions. In fact, New Zealand and Australia presented M5+ and M4+ activity respectively.

An M5.0 earthquake occurred a few minutes ago in Turkey. The closest larger town where the quake was felt is Gaziantep, a city of 1.1 million people in Turkey, in 35 km (22 mi) distance southeast of the epicenter. The earthquake was the strongest to hit this part of Turkey in over 1 year 27 weeks. On February 06, 2023 a M7.8 earthquake occurred and it is estimated that close to 50,000 people lost their lives. This region recorded an atmospheric fluctuation on August 30 chrome_screenshot_7 sep. 2024 1_26_39 a. m. CST.png

New crack opens in northwestern Mexico

A mega crack opened up in the earth in the desert of the coast of Hermosillo, southwest of the capital of Sonora.

Through social networks, residents of Ejido J. Cruz Gálvez, located 25 kilometers from Hermosillo, in an area known as El Caporal, broadcast the recording of the ditch where apparently some calves that were grazing fell.

Giant cracks begin to form in different parts of Los Angeles, California.
Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in the city of Rancho Palos Verdes due to a landslide that has led to utility outages and evacuation warnings for affected residents.

The governor's proclamation of a state of emergency would allow state government to "use and employ" state resources to provide assistance to nearly 300 residences and businesses now without gas and electricity.
