Éiriú-Eolas - Breathing Program

SoverignDove, I've experienced what you are describing also. I haven't personally experienced any negative consequences of it, and it might well be the mild hyperventilation issue you've inquired about. I don't think we have much to worry about :)
I take the approach of watching the effects closely, and if anything gets too intense, we can always just stop the Beatha portion for a little while, continue doing the Pipe breathing and POTS, then continue the beatha portion at a later date.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't experienced any negative consequences either. If it gets too intense (I did stop once and waited until the spasm and numbness stopped before continuing) I will stop before continuing again. I'm glad to see this wasn't a solitary experience! ;D

Some feedback about my own practice of EE since almost 3 months.
I'm doing it fully at evenings before sleep, once a week. And I'm also doing daily stretchings from the programs mixed with some others that I know of. I'd like to be more regular, my laziness is a tough sparing partner.

In the beginning I had the same kind of mild hyperventilation effects that are already reported on Beatha, not being able to move the fingers, feeling like(let me try to explain) the bones were trying to escape the skin on the ends, that's what it felt energetically, high pressure and strong resistance.
Sometimes, the numbness around the mouth and also the belly, and sometimes in the whole body.
Feeling (very) hot or cold also, depending of my energetic state, I guess.

I have to mention that I had some troubles standing up staight in PB, related to my scoliosis and some bad postures, so I was more laying down to finish Beatha after, I think it is related to the hyperventilation.
It really improved and I try to stay as straight as possible now, I was too curved in the beginning, and letting my belly go out was pulling my muscles around my clavicle, the scalenes if I would guess. It is easier now and I understand the posture as being truly important, in general. The warrior breaths help me to amplify my willpower, or it is the impression I have when I'm doing so. This thought is in my mind : I will persist until I succeed. ;)

One new phenomenom that appeared recently after Beatha is the powerful ear buzz heard, the first time I heard it I thought it was something somewhere in the house doing that noise (the kind of noise that a old TV or a radio would do if not set up properly) because it really feel like it's outside. It progressivly looses strength when I arrive to the meditation.
I am also more concentrated on the breathing in itself, there is less and less noise in my flow of thoughts. My muscles are completly relaxed for POTS, especially the face muscles, it is really great. I have often seen some colors and some faces produced by phosphenes, I guess. Reminds me of some Reiki experiences too. I've been zoned out too.

It really is effective, and yesterday night, while listening to Ailen's voice, in french-I should maybe try the english version-, it suddenly felt like there was a 'holy echo' on some sentences, it was really weird because I'm used to listen to it and I had never have this feeling. I felt some kind of unity in some ways with the group.
I have to improve my english to describe sensations, it's not that easy, my vocabulary feels poor right now.

Thank you so much, by the way.

I thought your vocabulary was great. It was nice for me to read your experience with EE as it's something I'm trying to encourage myself to do more. :)

Very similar effects as a result of doing the meditation segment as you've mentioned above - notably the ones highlighted above. These have become almost persistent now - electric numb feeling in hands & feet & at times all around the body. It did worry me before as I felt so removed from physical occurences, or weak & without effort.

I also agree.

I like to do Pipe Breathing and PotS in the morning, because when we say "Live in me today" I think about the consciousness "being with us" and manifesting through us during the day, so that we will be more aware and therefore act in a way more consistent with our selves and The Work... etc...

But when I do the whole program I do it all together in the evening because I often fall asleep as well as you do... :)

fwiw

Think I might try doing it in the day/morning again - did so earlier this week, & it made a difference throughout the day. I felt as though I was still asleep but my mind was clear.

To those who are having intense tingling sensations, feeling a numbness etc., let me ask, are you breathing gently as Laura says on the CD. Or, during beatha are you breathing very hard? From my own experiences, breathing hard, especially when doing the faster beatha, made me tingle more. Then, I realized while listening to Laura that she says to breath gently in and out.

Just something to think about and if you are breathing hard, start doing it in a more gentle manner, stop forcing it. It helped me, maybe it will help you, too.

Eiriu Eolas is supposed to be gentle.

The gentle breathing also helped me. At first I wasn't feeling satisfied with the amount of air I was getting in the short parts of the Breatha, so was breathing heavier to try and make it more 'effective'.

However after just sitting through it calmly and breathing gently the whole time, the emotional releases afterwards have actually been stronger, to the point that I've had to just end conversations due to my level of irritability. It's also much easier on the nostrils :)

This reminder of it supposing to be gentle was very good for me to read, thank you! I have also been trying to get a 'nice, deep breath' in and out during the Beatha portions, and it definitely contributed to the tingling sensations. I also was having a bit of a hard time with my nostrils getting very dry and starting to become fairly uncomfortable during the beatha portion. I'll definitely try and be more gentle tonight and going forward!

To me is OK, I always have trouble describing sensations either in English or my native language, I am not used to describe my own sensations, and at first, I did not want to feel any sensation. :)

FWIW Iwas getting ... not fairly uncomfortable during the Beatha portion, it was more like: too much uncomfortable in the Beatha, with the dryness in my nostrils. A recommendation from EE forum, had worked for me quite well: Inhaling not “using” the nose, inhaling through the nose. As how I feel it when I inhale, I focus on the sensation on the rest of the muscles while the diaphragm does it movements while inhaling, my abdomen expands the moment I inhale –like pushing the air from there(down) and not from up (the nose)- and later, I feel how the air goes to the lungs. Had not being able to feel how the diaphragm per se moves, though.

Had not felt any tingly sensations for a while, I focus also in relaxing other muscles. The limbs for example, there is a moment when I don't feel them, more often the arms and hands than the legs and foot. They are there although as if they aren't, I do not feel neither anything up or down when the limbs are located. Not the sensation, as if they were numb either. They just seem to not exist, while I do the exercise.

Quick question:

I've just started the Pipe Breathing and I notice that my exhale lasts three times longer than my inhale. I inhale for a count 6, and my exhale is generally 18-20 count.

Is that okay, or should I be pushing my exhale a little harder?

The choice is yours, do whatever you are most comfortable with. See what the difference is with exhaling a little 'wider', rather than harder, to fit to the count of nine - think of breathing through a drainpipe rather than a straw.

This may help, or not.

That's a good idea about widening the mouth. Will experiment and settle on what is comfortable. Thanks!

On my experiences with EE I remember a dream after POTS of a golden aura coming up my body and this was after my first session. A few months in now and I've also heard the "holy echos" and body sensations in the form of head "rushes." Also the peace of mind and emotions afterwards is incredible, it's like a sense of unity for a time if that makes sense. It's difficult to put it all into words.

I ordered the DVD. My gesture of commitment and not taking only without giving. I hope it will be enough in lieu of a live instructor.

Just wanted to share my EE experience last night, which was my first complete session for 6 weeks or so. (I had a rather traumatic episode following a group EE session which may be related or not - posted on Psychology board).

Last night though, I had such a wonderful, peaceful, loving, accepting, quietly joyous experience throughout. I felt so 'clean' inside. During PoTS, it 'felt' like my 3rd eye chakra was being wiped, with a 'higher connection' forming that I haven't experienced before during EE. It seemed I was more aware of other 'possibilities of being' - developing new circuits - perceptions and abilities.

Thanks again for all involved in EE :)
