I was just gifted a beautiful horse :)

It was love at first sight for both of us! Her current caretaker said "she's been waiting for you" and just gave her to me

She's a 4 year old red and white paint, about 16 hands and very broad (which is good 'cause so am I) I'M SO HAPPY I'M ABOUT TO POP!! :) :) :)

I didn't realize what a hole losing my horse had left in me until I met my new friend.

Now I gotta go put up a fence, and I'm going to build her stall right off my bedroom window so we can smell each other at night. :D

Will post pictures soon :D :D :D :D

Horse smell is divine! Pics pics pics!

I am very happy for you Guardian. How "kewl" is that? :wow:

And you are going to have her right outside your bedroom window!

I, too, am awaiting pictures of this lovely creature, and would also like to know her name. Can't wait. :)

Way to go.................your a lucky man...and they loooooooooooooove carrots.

:D :D :D

What an amazing story, someone good with animals is always good with me. Really uplifting to hear Guradian, also looking forward to pics and her name?!

Reminds me of one night fortunate enough to meet an 18-hand gentle giant, twas midnight or so - so only saw him by moonlight but he was magnificent and so aware and sensitive of/to the environment around him. love me some horses. his name was Guinness and came up for a hello. I pictured Atlas being a bit more apt a name for his broad shoulders and mane, but hey, wasnt me horse. great meeting him though.

other horses I know....

Miss Diva

Beau

Luxxor

Shu (a mean yet adorable pony)

Whispers are good at night too, she'll love the closeness.

:)

A red and white paint sounds like an Abby to me. Abigail.

Exciting news!

What a lovely story! Brings tears (of joy) to my eyes. I have loved horses since I was about 3 years old and met my first one (yes, I do love their smell as well). I am so happy for you both. It seems a match made in heaven.

She originally belonged to a young woman who hand raised her from a filly. The young woman tragically passed away not long ago, an a Elder in their community who already had horses took the young mare...who's been very depressed and hasn't wanted anything to do with anyone. Evidently something about my smell, looks, whatever, made the mare perk up and she came right over to me for cuddles and brushing. I just mentioned that I missed my horse and wanted to get another, and he said "She's been waiting for you" and "You can have her if you have a place to keep her" Super Jaw Drop

It does look like she was waiting for you! ;)
Congratulations!! :D

Congratulations Guardian! I understand your passion. I have been blessed with having horses for most of my life and those few years without, while valuable in learning that I did not need horses to be happy and have a purposeful life, were not the same and lacked the daily thrill and passion and learning experiences that close contact with such amazing entities provided. Good luck with your new friendship--she is very lucky to have you as there are more needy horses out there right now than there are good homes.

And good luck with your fence. I am fencing in a three acre field for my horses at this time too. It is a big project that is helping to keep me sane right now as I am in a bit of a funk and on my way to The Swamp soon. The vision of my horses delight in having new pasture to run, explore and dine in is a little joy that helps me keep going. Again, best wishes on your new relationship! :flowers:

Her name is "Agaliha" which is Cherokee for "Sunshine"

The fence and barn are proving to be a bit more of a challenge than I expected. We have a HUGE cherry tree right smack in the middle of what I wanted to use as pasture, and the wilted leaves are deadly to horses, and there is a ginormous boulder where we were going to put the barn....so we are moving all kinds of stuff around. I should have gotten rid of some of this junk by now anyway...so it's all good :)

It's raining right now...which is WONDERFUL...pounding these fence poles will be MUCH easier when it stops. The gentleman who's currently taking care of Agaliha told me not to rush...take my time and do it right, my new friend isn't going anywhere, so my new goal is to have it ready by the end of the week. I found a company that delivers pre-built barns on a flatbed. The guy is going to come up here in a car to see if they can make all the corners to get up here. IF they can, we won't have to stick build one which will save a lot of time.

This is pretty much par for the course ...EVERYTHING I plan always take 2-10 times as long as I think it will to accomplish, and it never quite turns out how I pictured in the beginning...but it turns out :D

That´s awesome guardian!! :D

and as everyone else mentioned, we need pictures! ;) :D

How is Hagar and Hildagard doing?

They're doing great!!! They don't even need their leashes anymore, they come when they're called. We just let them out in the morning and they graze around the house. If it gets hot, they come up on the porch and ask to be let in. They like to take a nap in the AC from 1-3 pm on hot days...then it's back outside for afternoon playtime :D
