Iodine and Potassium Iodide

Reading people's experiences, I guess I've been very lucky. No bad experiences with iodine. I started in November at 50mg a day then a four weeks ago I upped it to 100 a day (8 drops 10% Lugols) for about three weeks. I didn't feel any different so I went back down to 4 drops a day.

I think you mean bromine, which is one of the toxic halogens/halides that displaces iodine and has to be detoxed, rather than theobromine,

Duh! Thanks for the correction.

My experience:

I have been doing the protocol for 23 days, as Gaby’s Focus said, I started with one drop of Iodine 5%, increasing one drop every three days. I’m at 8 drops now and I don’t feel any reactions, any improve in energy or whatever, I don’t have a serious problem neither, I don’t know if bad memory count. I would like to drink up to 15 drops to see if there are some viruses hidden :D

I only see symptoms I use to have on occasions, stuffy nose (usually dust entering in my room) and a very little discomfort in the lymph nodes of the throat

I'm taking the Iodine with selenium after breakfast between 12:30-13:30 pm, salt (before breakfast and after Iodine), vitamin C 1-2 hours after, magnessium and probiotics before go to sleep, I took the probiotics one week before the protocol began. Instead of B2 and B3 I'm drinking tea with herbs (they're well known in South America) for the liver, digestion and kidneys:

(The first two weaks, one or two times a day)
Carqueja (Baccharis articulata)
Dill
Chinese star anise (Illicium verum)
Cangorosa (Maytenus ilicifolia)

(for one week now)
dandelion
Rosemary
Peppermint
Boldo (Peumus boldus)

In going to drink this two later
Artichoke
Green tea

And I'm especulating of if the herbs can cut the energy effect, what do you think?

I have omega 3 available, what is the best moment to take it? or, It isn't necessary at the moment?

I think I'm one of these lucky ones. Had very mild detox reactions and mostly positive effects. I had some skin fungus and problems that were accompaining me for many years, and no treatment delt effectively with them. Since starting taking 50mg of Lugol's, every day my skin is better, it's amazing. I had some cancer sores in my mouth in the first 3 days, but they subsided on their own.
Other than that, I've had some busy dreams, more clear thinking and a greater sensation of wellbeing in general.

I'd suggest you wait a bit longer than 1-2h before taking the vitamin C, even cut it out completely at some days. You might also consider cutting out all that other stuff, besides the iodine (You're taking Lugol's, right?), and see how it goes. Sometimes less is more, even with supplements.

That's a good summary of my experience, too.

I agree with Aragorn here Josev, it's better to go slowly i'm telling you this from my own experience, me too when i've started the iodine protocol, didn't feel almost no changes then i decided to increase the dosage, i've done that and behold, about a week and a half later i got a cold so severe that i couldn't do anything, i was reduced to bed, no energy, weak, very unpleasant, i'm pretty sure that wasn't a "normal" type of cold, i think it was a mix of heavy detox reactions + the activation of some nasty dormant viruses hence the cold, from then on i prefer to go slowly to take no more than 50- 54 mg a day, slowly but surely.

Btw i've noticed too some positive changes, my concentration has improved, brain fogg dissipated, i'm feeling more relaxed and good. :)

I've been taking 4-5 drops everyday since November 2015ish, but shortened it down after getting a constant metal taste in my mouth (figured I needed to do rounds of DMSA, so waiting till I can afford it) - Although Iodine has been proving to do wonders on my menstrual cycle, I'm now 12 days late and I'm usually very regular. When I've checked around on the web, a few people have reported irregularities with their menstruation whilst taking Iodine.
I'm not too worried, it just feels as though it's "building up" or at least prolonging any PMS symptoms which at times can be pretty bad!

Has any other women on here experienced the same?

It can take much longer than 23 days for the body to replenish its need for iodine. As has been noted, unless a person has a serious condition that they wish to treat - one that is known - just go slow and easy. If you don't have any major issues or diagnoses, I don't see any reason to take more than a drop or two a day. Don't just decide, based on no evidence, that you might have this or that or something else and you are gonna whomp it with iodine! That's nuts!

For those who DO have diagnosis of some serious condition, you need some medical guidance and to be fully informed before you start increasing your intake of iodine.

And keep in mind, in all cases, it can take MONTHS to correct deficiencies.

I actually have experience this. In the beginning, it cause (or I should say I think it was due to the iodine) a very uncomfortable, painful and strong menstrual cycle. After that, to be honest, I feel like my menstrual pains are actually lighting up :)

I mean, if you don't have a reason to believe it's something else, I'd suggest waiting it out for a bit. If too much time passes with no sign of it, then maybe you should double check with a doctor.

I have been taking around 3-4 drops of 2% Lugols for the past few months. That seems to be the limit right now. I tried to up the dose slowly to around 7 drops, but I suddenly noticed increased irritability in the afternoons and the rash I have became more persistent. Once I reduced the dosage the rash settled down, but nothing seems to clear it up completely. I do take weekend breaks from iodine and have been taking cilantro and chlorella along with the co-factors. Am thinking I may need take a longer break and let the rash clear, then start back with just a drop or two. I have tried magnesium oil and bentonite clay, but neither seems to affect it.

One other thing I have recently noticed is that my emotions are more accessible and that any type of bodywork seems to precipitate some emotional clearing. That’s quite new as I have never had any reactions like that before. It feels as though the iodine and HM detox is clearing a wealth of toxic emotions along with everything else.

Hello Lyliac and Solie, this happened to me also, last week I started taking iodine again and it was just exactly while I was pmsing, my period came a couple of days later and im very regular, also the pms cravings, mood swings, and irritability were huge, cramps and my breast were hurting a lot. I was also wondering about this.

Not sure if you heard the Health & Wellness show where they interviewed Lynne Farrow, but she said that for skin flareups, they have found that zinc helps clear it up. If you are not taking zinc, you may want to take some and see how it goes.

Thanks, Nienna. I have been taking Zinc in the gluconate form - may need to up the dosage or try another form. I have an appt. with a nutritionist on Monday and will ask him. My zinc levels were slightly low last time we checked, so it may be an absorption problem or the form I am using.

Thanks for sharing your experiences too, :) I'll wait it out! Stick to 2, it's probably unnecessary the amount I'm taking.
