Iodine and Potassium Iodide

After I increased my Iodine dosage to 2 drops of 5% Lugols, something started to happen.
First is that I must go to the bathroom very often. Even during the night. I have never go to the bathroom during the night and now I have to get up in the night to go to the bathroom. Then again, in the morning I feel like my bladder will explode if I don't go to the bathroom immediately.
So , I guess it's some kind of a detox reaction and many things are expelled out of my body through urine.

Then I have a stiff and painful neck. I can handle with that , but it's very unpleasant at night when sleeping .

Then sometimes I can feel a taste of iodine in my mouth and especially during the days that I'm taking iodine. I can feel how its coming from my sinuses. After iodine, I don't have a congested sinuses anymore but now I can feel a sharp pain deep inside the sinuses and it affects the eye and the head. So it feels like my eyeball is hurting me from inside.

So, a few detox symptoms that I can handle for now.If things will get uglier I will decrease iodine dosage .

You may want to take a bunch of chlorella 30 minutes before taking iodine. It will absorb then toxins in your gut released by iodine.

Indeed, it looks like a symptom of bromide detox (you'll see the list of symptoms when you scroll down): https://www.sott.net/article/307684-Iodine-Suppressed-knowledge-that-can-change-your-life

Yes, I was thinking the same, but now I have to order chlorella. I finished one bottle a few months ago.
Thank you

Yeah, sounds like the classical detox reaction.

Until you're able to get some chlorella, I was going to suggest cilantro, however, cilantro (and parsley) in the raw, can contain heavy metals from the soil they are grown in. You may want to have a look at this link http://healthywildandfree.com/parsley-cilantro-remove-heavy-metals-heres-what-they-didnt-tell-you/ which discusses the pitfalls of cilantro. It also gives suggestions (apple cider vinegar, Vit C, essential oil of cilantro) to help with detox.

Heavy metal detox is not for the faint of heart!! it may also help if you do a few days off iodine in between so not to be overwhelmed by detox reaction.

I've been drinking tamarind tea which is supposed to help detox fluoride, one of the baddies.

I think cilantro is rather a mobilizer (as iodine) and not a binder of heavy metals. From Dr. Klinghardt's protocol:

Cilantro (Chinese Parsley)

This kitchen herb is capable of mobilizing mercury, cadmium, lead and aluminum in both bones and the central nervous system. It is probably the only effective agent in mobilizing mercury stored in the intracellular space (attached to mitochondria, tubulin, liposomes etc) and in the nucleus of the cell (reversing DNA damage of mercury). Because cilantro mobilizes more toxins then it can carry out of the body, it may flood the connective tissue (where the nerves reside) with metals, that were previously stored in safer hiding places.

This process is called re-toxification. It can easily be avoided by simultaneously giving an intestinal toxin-absorbing agent. Our definite choice is the algal organism chlorella. A recent animal study demonstrated rapid removal of aluminum from the skeleton superior to any known other detox agent.

Dosage and application of cilantro tincture: give 2 drops 2 times per day in the beginning, taken just before a meal or 30 minutes after taking chlorella (cilantro causes the gallbladder to dump bile — containing the excreted neurotoxins — into the small intestine. The bile-release occurs naturally as we are eating and is much enhanced by cilantro. If no chlorella is taken, most neurotoxins are reabsorbed on the way down the small intestine by the abundant nerve endings of the enteric nervous system). Gradually increase dose to 10 drops 3 times/day for full benefit. During the initial phase of the detox cilantro should be given 1 week on, 2–3 weeks off.

Other ways of taking cilantro: rub 5 drops twice/day into ankles for mobilization of metals in all organs, joints and structures below the diaphragm, and into the wrists for organs, joints and structures above the diaphragm. The wrists have dense autonomic innervation (axonal uptake of cilantro) and are crossed by the main lymphatic channels (lymphatic uptake).

Cilantro tea: use 10 to 20 drops in cup of hot water. Sip slowly. Clears the brain quickly of many neurotoxins. Good for headaches and other acute symptoms (joint pains, angina, headache). Or, rub 10–15 drops into painful area. Often achieves almost instant pain relief.

If you don't have chlorella at the moment you can use wild garlic as a toxin-absorbing agent:

Garlic (Allium Sativum) and Wild Garlic (Allium Ursinum)

Garlic has been shown to protect the white and red blood cells from oxidative damage caused by metals in the blood stream — on their way out — and also has its own valid detoxification functions. Garlic contains numerous sulphur components, including the most valuable sulph-hydryl groups, which oxidize mercury, cadmium and lead and make these metals water-soluble. This makes it easy for the organism to excrete these substances.

Garlic also contains alliin which is enzymatically transformed into allicin, natures most potent antimicrobial agent. Metal toxic patients almost always suffer from secondary infections, which are often responsible for part of the symptoms. Garlic also contains the most important mineral, which protects from mercury toxicity, bioactive selenium. Most selenium products are poorly absorbable and do not reach those body compartments in need for it. Garlic selenium is the most beneficial natural bio-available source. Garlic is also protective against heart disease and cancer.

The half-life of allicin (after crushing garlic) is less then 14 days. Most commercial garlic products have no allicin releasing potential left. This distinguishes freeze-dried garlic from all other products. Bear garlic tincture is excellent for use in detox, but less effective as antimicrobial agent.

Dosage: 1–3 capsules freeze dried garlic after each meal. Start with 1 capsule after the main meal per day; slowly increase to the higher dosage. Initially the patient may experience die-off reactions (from killing pathogenic fungal or bacterial organisms). Use 5–10 drops bear-garlic on food at least 3 times per day.

The simplest solution at the moment would be active charcoal 30-40 minutes on empty stomach before taking iodine, imo. It's also much more affordable.

Good points Altair! I had forgotten that cilantro mobilizes. Thanks for clarifying that. Garlic is likely the best to use until chlorella arrives.

How often do you take the lugol? Do the symptoms clear up in time for the next dose? It might also be a matter of spacing up the lugol intake, at least while you have these symptoms.

Wanted to pass this by the forum and see what you think. I'm waiting for probiotics from iherb for my mom, but they still haven't arrived. I was planning on trying the probiotic enema to get her straightened out (last Sunday she did the first coffee enema and it seemed to go well). I have BAM (Beneficial-Active Microorganisms) I bought from forum member Kawika - I just remembered yesterday that I still have some left from around 5 years ago (bought a whole bunch).

First I wondered if it's still good to use for the enema, and also it's supposed to have quite a bunch of different strains of beneficial bacteria and yeast. I remember reading a few years ago that Kawika thought nothing happens to BAM (as it's in a liquid) and keeps well for many years, but can't seem to find where I read it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm taking Lugols on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then 2 days off during the weekend.
The symptoms usually last only the day that I take Lugols. Sometimes they are more severe, sometimes not so much, but the next day it is all cleared. That is why I'm taking it every second day with 2 free days for the weekend.

There are days when I feel the need to eat a lot of salt. So when I taste the salt it seems so nice. On those days detox symptoms are usually stronger.
Other days when the need for salt is not so drastic, the detox symptoms are usually lighter.

Yes, I have tried cilantro but it is just a mobiliser. I was using it with chlorella. I still have some cilantro but I will use it when i will order chlorella again.
I also use garlic. I'm making done broth and u put a lot of garlic, tumeric, parsley, and a lot of salt inside. So i eat it every morning and it beautifull.

Good to hear that your mom is responding well to the coffee enema, ST. :)

I asked Kawika and 'Awapuhi about this recently myself and 'Awapuhi said that it could be beneficial for these purposes. Also, Kawika confirmed that BAM's shelf life is quite long, as in years. But maybe they can elaborate a bit more here.

On a related note, I tried the regular probiotic enema yesterday for the first time. It may be too soon to say how its affecting things but I got up quite early this morning feeling no need for further sleep, so it's possible that it has an energizing effect. I'll be paying attention to any other differences I see in the coming days.

I don't think I would be comfortable using BAM for an enema. Keep in mind that one is looking to populate the intestines with human specific microbes, more or less, and those of particular strains.
