Israel-Palestine War: Hamas Breaks Out of Gaza, Israel Responds With Genocide

No hack can turn a small lithium battery into a mini-explosive. The security breach in these beepers is physical and not informational, meaning that they were intercepted and explosives were placed in the entire shipment, probably in their batteries, which were detonated by a timer or, perhaps more likely, by a detonator.
The Sky News Arabia channel, citing exclusive sources, said the communication devices had fallen into Israeli hands before reaching the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
“Mossad managed to intercept Hezbollah’s communication devices before they were delivered to the group,” the sources told the channel. (...) the spy agency “rigged a quantity of the highly explosive material pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) in the devices' batteries, which were detonated by increasing the batteries’ temperature.”

Israel will receive a “just punishment for this sinful aggression,” Hezbollah said in one of its initial statements on Tuesday.

Israel remained mum, with the Prime Minister's Office distancing itself from a now-deleted social media post by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's former top aide and spokesperson Topaz Luk, which hinted at Israeli responsibility for the attacks.

A few people have questioned why Israel would play this hand when it would arguably have been far more effective during or immediately prior to offensive actions.

If there's any truth in this article it might offer an explanation. This is all according to three unnamed US officials citing a former Israeli official, make of it what you will.

A former Israeli official with knowledge of the operation said Israeli intelligence services planned to use the booby-trapped pagers it managed to "plant" in Hezbollah's ranks as a surprise opening blow in an all- out war to try to cripple Hezbollah.

  • But in recent days, Israeli leaders became concerned that Hezbollah might discover the pagers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his top ministers and the heads of the Israel Defense Forces and the intelligence agencies decided to use the system now rather than take the risk of it being detected by Hezbollah, a U.S. official said.
  • The Israeli concerns that led to the decision to conduct the attack were first reported by Al-Monitor, which said two Hezbollah operatives raised suspicions about the pagers in recent days.

Was it a 'use it or lose it' capability?

It seems pretty plausible, I did actually think that something like this might have happened. Now it will probably be much more difficult for Mossad to conduct operations like this in the future.

I don't know of any way to make any normal battery explode so reliably in such a catastrophic way. My guess is the rumors of inserted explosive material is correct. IOW, the devices were specifically designed to kill Hezbollah peeps.
It is more admissible to believe/think that something was put in it than the other way.

There is this new report

"Israel has yet to issue official comment, but there are several reports from the region that war preparations are underway. There are reports of evening Israeli shelling of Hezbollah positions in south Lebanon."

"Israel's Channel 14 is reporting that "senior Israeli military officials are preparing for a third Hezbollah war which is expected to begin almost immediately." The US State Department has said the US "was not aware of this operation and was not involved" in the attack. The Biden administration says it is "still gathering information".
I was thinking just that. If Israel's intention was to kill as many Hezbollah officials or key people as possible, all at once, then it follows that most probably they are about to get their war on Lebanon started.

Yeap, most probably
Not that airlines have any inside info, but most seem to be suspending flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut for more than just a few days.

Ryanair cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv until Oct 26, citing ‘operational restrictions’

Air France said it was suspending services to Beirut and Tel Aviv up to and including Sept 19

KLM cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv until Oct 26

EasyJet stopped flying to and from Tel Aviv in April and will resume flights on March 30, 2025

Air India suspended scheduled flights to and from Tel Aviv until further notice

Cathay Pacific cancelled all flights to Tel Aviv until March 27, 2025

Delta Air Lines paused flights between New York and Tel Aviv through Oct 31

Lufthansa said it was suspending all connections to and from Tel Aviv and Tehran up to and on Sept 19

United Airlines suspended flights to Tel Aviv for the foreseeable future due to security reasons

If it was the fear of discovery that bought the whole thing forward then hopefully it was another event that did not go to 'plan'. And as said, has made everyone aware now of some of their schemes.
What also occured to me was that whilst the genocide was mainly contained until recently in Palestine, those asleep could pretend whatever their self calming narrative was to be.
However, with the recent escalation into other countries and now this obvious evil against the Lebanese people, that 'excuse' to themselves and those Governments can not longer hold water. It was premeditated evil.
I have been praying that Israhell did not select the time to bomb Lebanon, and Beirut in particular, when all the highly skilled doctors and medical staff from nearby countries, and called back off duty, had all arrived in the overcrowded hospitals. Which they are renowned for targeting during a crisis that they created in the first place.
We just have to hope also that these such things do not explode in planes in the future. They have enough ways they already use to control planes and plant explosives as we have witnessed so many times in the past. We already have the awful maintenance track record of Bo-ing to contend with. Doors falling off. Doctors falling out of the sky in Brazil etc.

You also have to take energy density into account.

When an electric car battery bursts into flames, you're talking +70kWh batteries. They are designed to discharge quickly, which is how they provide lots of go-power - but not for very long. Thus, when one fails, it can be pretty spectacular.

A wireless pager that uses modern electronics has a winky little battery - that can't be magically made to turn into a high energy-density battery. And even if it could, how exactly do you make a relatively safe battery connected to low-power electronics suddenly overheat and explode via software? That's Hollywood stuff, not the real world.

Even if you take a big lithium-ion battery pack and drive a nail through it, they heat up and self-destruct, but they don't often explode like C4 or something. And they certainly don't consistently explode like we saw in Lebanon.

And today it's exploding radios and rumor has it, iPhones. The iPhone, if true, is a humdinger because darn near every politician in the West uses an iPhone...

They've also already claimed they know the type of explosive used.

The easiest approach would be to replace something like 30-40% of the battery volume with explosive + receiver/trigger electronics. Batteries usually add a fair amount of weight to the device. That would mean battery life isn't so great, which would mean they might notice eventually and/or swap out the battery (assuming the device has a swappable battery). Modern gizmos are usually pretty tightly packed already.

It is interesting that Lebanon is asking Taiwan to explain how the Mossad accesses its country and modifies electronic devices to make them explode. Moreover, it should not be forgotten that Nvidia, the world's largest electronics manufacturer, has its manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, which is why there is a lot of interest in preserving the island. If the relationship were proven, it would mean that this is no longer a safe country for the production of electronic products.

I was thinking just that. If Israel's intention was to kill as many Hezbollah officials or key people as possible, all at once, then it follows that most probably they are about to get their war on Lebanon started.
Iran's restraint will not stop Israel from starting a regional war. Israel is seeking by all means to be legitimately attacked and if it doesn't happen with this kind of grotesque Mossad killing actions, it will create another new false flag. As I see it, this war cannot be avoided unless something happens in the United States or in Israel's internal politics.

Israeli journalist Barak Ravid confirmed the explosions are the “second wave” of Israel's terror attack, “which started on Tuesday” when thousands of pagers blew up across the country, injuring around 3,000 people and killing at least 12.

A new wage of Israeli explosions across Lebanon. Electronic devices are exploding in shops, cars, homes and even in funerals. Yesterday’s attack killed civilians including 3 children. This is a deliberate attack on Lebanese civilians. This is mass murder. pic.twitter.com/icqLXFUNMM

Iran has shown restraint after Israeli killing of Hamas leader, president says
The Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has said Tehran has shown restraint so far in its response to the Israeli assassination of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh because it believes Israel has been trying to lure it into a regional war.
(...)
“What Israel has done in the region and what Israel tried with the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran was to drag us into a regional war,” he told reporters. “We have exercised restraint so far but we reserve the right to defend ourselves at a specific time and place with specific methods.”

Little write up on the pagers etc. here
Regarding this other devices, were manufactured at a similar company at the same time? Or they were planted for this days?
The extent of the Israeli infiltration of Hezbollah's technical supply chain goes beyond pagers however. Latest news is that several other types of communication devices have exploded today, Wednesday, across Beirut. Devices such as walkie-talkies, fingerprint security locks, home solar energy systems and other types of domestic radio devices are involved.

You also have to take density energy (STS) into account, came to my mind thinking in this ...dot.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday adopted a Palestinian-drafted resolution that demands Israel end "its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory" within 12 months.

UN overwhelmingly backs Palestinian resolution to end Israeli occupatio

A majority of the 193-member United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday voted in favour of a Palestinian resolution demanding an end to Israel's occupation of Gaza and the occupied West Bank within a year.
The nonbinding resolution put forward by the Palestinian Authority was based on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) back in July, which said Israel’s presence in the occupied territories was unlawful and must end.
One hundred and twenty-four countries voted in favour of the resolution at UN headquarters in New York City, while 14 countries voted against it, including Israel and the United States.
The 43 countries that abstained include US allies Australia, Canada, Germany, and Ukraine.
The resolution put forward by Palestine calls for Israeli settlers to be removed from the areas occupied by Israel in 1967; divestment from Israeli entities profiting from that land; and compensation for Palestinians who have been living under Israeli military occupation.
