Iran Is Working to Undercut Trump in Presidential Election, U.S. Spy Agencies Say​

The US intelligence community has “observed” Iran trying to influence the 2024 election — and keep former President Donald Trump from a second term in the White House, according to a Monday unclassified briefing.

An official at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence told reporters that intelligence agencies have “observed Tehran working to influence the presidential election, probably because Iranian leaders want to avoid an outcome they perceive would increase tensions with the United States.”

Officials had previously described Iran as more of a “chaos agent” in the 2024 race between Trump, 78, and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, 59.

Now, Iran is spreading “disinformation” through “vast webs of online personas and propaganda mills” in addition to clandestine efforts to put a thumb on the scales for Harris.

If one thing is clear, it is that after the bombing of Lebanon and some skirmishes with Turkey, whichever candidate wins will now be the president for war promoted by the most pro-Israeli government in US history. A government that supports and applauding genocide and the ethnic cleansing.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh assassinated in Tehran​

Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the resistance Palestinian movement Hamas, has been killed in an attack in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday morning that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence was hit in Tehran.

The statement said the attack is under investigation and the results will be announced later in the day.

The Palestinian resistance leader was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian.

Russian Foreign Ministry: Haniya's murder is a political murder
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov called the death of the head of the Hamas politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, a political assassination and warned of a possible escalation of tensions in the region. In an interview with RIA Novosti, Bogdanov said that such actions are absolutely unacceptable and can have serious negative consequences.

"This is an absolutely unacceptable political assassination, and it will lead to further escalation of tension," Bogdanov said.

He stressed that the incident would significantly complicate the negotiations taking place in Doha and have a negative impact on the conflict settlement process.

The head of the Hamas politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed at night as a result of a rocket attack on his residence in Tehran. One of his bodyguards was also killed in the attack. In an official statement, Hamas confirmed the death of its leader and blamed Israel for the incident. Representatives of the movement reported that the attack occurred after Haniyeh took part in the inauguration ceremony of the new president of Iran.

The Israeli authorities have not yet claimed responsibility for this attack, which adds uncertainty to the current situation. Experts fear that this event could provoke a new wave of violence in the region and intensify confrontation between the parties.

There has been no immediate comment from Israel on the strike, which took place hours after Haniyeh attended the inauguration ceremony for Iran’s new president.

Several Israeli ministers have reacted to Haniyeh’s death though. The heritage minister, Amichay Eliyahu, celebrated his killing, writing on X: “Haniyeh’s death makes the world a little better” and that this is the “right way to clean the world from this filth”.

Shlomo Karhi, minister of communications, wrote on X: “Yes, all your enemies will perish, O God”, although it later appeared to have been deleted.

Amichai Chikli, minister of diaspora affairs and combating antisemitism, posted a video of the Hamas leader on X with the caption “Careful What You Wish For”.
